THIS PROPERTY HAS BEEN IN OUR FAMILY FOR OVER 90 YEARS! The original home burned down almost three years ago and this is all new - we'd like to share the view with you!
This rural residential area, is just south of Kingston on the part of Puget Sound called Port Madison. It was originally established (in 1916) as a summer community for Seattleites. The Indianola dock, built when the Mosquito Fleet boats supplied the majority of transportation on Puget Sound, was easy access for weekending families. Now this local landmark has been converted for recreational use (shortened to 870 feet), and the center of on-going local activity.
TAKE THE 30 MINUTE (BAINBRIDGE) FERRY FROM DOWNTOWN SEATTLE ....AND ANOTHER SHORT 25 MINUTE DRIVE TO PARADISE! You can also take the Edmonds to Kingston Ferry, or drive around via the Tacoma Narrows Bridge.
Over a dozen golf courses in the area: White Horse, Gold Mountain (home of the '08 NCAA Men's West
Regional Championships) Port Ludlow and Trophy Lake to name a few.
If you visit in the fall, visit the head of Miller Bay to see the salmon run at the Grover Creek Fish Hatchery operated by the Suquamish Tribe.
It is just a short drive to St. Peter's Mission, resting place of Chief Seattle. The site of "Old Man House" marks the location of one of the great cedar lodges used by northwest Native Americans for thousands of years.
Clearwater Casino in Suquamish as well as The Point Casino in Hansville are each ten minutes away. There are numerous historic towns to explore. Poulsbo is a fun destination, full of amazing restaurants, fun shops, a beautiful marina and waterfront park - there's always something going on! Port Townsend offers a haunted castle. Port Gamble is a 120 acre National Historic Landmark with turn of the century buildings. Hansville has the Point-no-Point Lighthouse. Antique shops and regional artists and boutiques abound.
In season, you can crab, dig for clams, or just do nothing at all. One of the more interesting things in town is the annual summer festival "Indianola Days", complete with fun run, amateur sand castle building, salmon bake, occasional talent show, and pet parade.
