Description of the Irish Hills vacation cottage rental
Pontoon boat available for rent for additional charge ($500/wk or $120/day). I also have 2 2013 model jet skis for rent. They are $700/week (both for $1100), $300 for one day ($500 for both), or $400 for 2 days ($600 for both).
I have two two bedroom cottages available, and one 3 bedroom/2 bath cottage available. I am now taking reservations for Spring/Summer 2013. I keep my availability calender up to date, if the calender shows an open day, at least one of my cottages is available. I have alot of prime weeks in a 2 bedroom cottage due to a recent cancelation from a long time guest who had 3 weeks reserved. My 3 bedroom/2 bath cottage is available for weeks in August. If you have a larger group, and need multiple cottages, contact me ASAP for 2013 as I have only limited weeks currently with two or more cottages open.
Make plans now for a great time at the lake, and life long family memories. My cottages are very Family friendly.
The rates listed are for my 2 bedroom cottages, my 3 bedroom/2 bath cottage is $1,300 a week for prime summer weeks.
I only rent on a weekly basis during prime summer (Mid June-Late Aug). I will offer 2 night rentals in May, early June, and starting Labor Day weekend. Contact me for pricing.
Cottages come fully equipped (with the exceptions of bed linens and towels) for you to enjoy your family vacation.
Area Information
Round lake is about 550 acres. All sports. Good fishing. Lake is very deep in spots, but very popular sandbar in middle of lake draws a decent amount of boats on weekends for swimming, partying, and relaxing.
Round Lake does connect to larger Devils Lake (about 1000 acres) but only very small boats, and jet skis can make it under the brige.

We rented the 3 bedroom cottage. It was very clean and more roomy than I expected. The kids had so much fun with the row boat and paddle boat. They also had a chance to fish by the dock and caught some blue gill and bass. Very family oriented atmosphere. The owner Mike is very professional to deal with from the start, was very helpful with awesome costumer service.

The cottage was great, beautiful water, had a lot of fun at the sandbar. Mike was terrific and we loved the pontoon boat. The only thing we didn't love was that the people in the 3 bedroom cottage had like 20 people with them every single day. We only had people up on the weekend, because we wanted to be considerate. Otherwise, the week was one of my favorite vacations ever! Visit Highland Inn for great food and drinks and Jerry's Pub on Wampler's Lake.

The renting process was simple with Mike. The place was pretty much as advertised and is in a great location. We rented the pontoon, and other then being hard to start (which I figured out the magic touch by the 3rd day) was great.. It allowed us to get to the very cool sand bar... Great beach, great location, very clean... Mike & Chuck the property manager, we're both great to deal with... We had a great vacation and will be ack..

My family and I rented the upstairs 2 bdrm apartment and had a great time. It was really nice to have the water right there. The lake is great. Our dog loved wading into the water to fetch his ball. The weather was great. The other neighbors turned out to be great. Overall, it was a great vacation. We definitely would go back.

My husband and I had a chance for a spontaneous getaway and Mike had the perfect dates and cottage available. We stayed in the upstairs 2 bdrm unit and absolutely loved our time there! The unit was very clean and bug free! The water toys were so much fun and the sandy bottom right at the docks are a plus! We had fantastic neighbors below us, which made our experience that much more enjoyable! Chuck took very good care of us too. We had so much fun! Cottage is clean, view is spectacular and the weather was perfect! Room air conditioners are in the bedrooms and a fan in the master bedroom because it was hot! Walking around to see the local cottages is a treat as attractive landscaping and renovations are everywhere. We enjoyed the floating raft and the water was just the right temp. Would definitely go back to this lake again if not the same cottage. Visited Hidden Lake Gardens, the Cherry Creek Winery and Walker Tavern which were all nice. Wish I owned property on this lake!

Property as advertised, yet beyond expectations

What a great time, on a beautiful lake, with a homely feel. We stayed at the 3-bedroom ranch cottage in June 2012 for a 5 day/4 night stay, and it was beyond all of our expectations. Start to finish, we had zero issues on communication and follow-thru from the owner (Mike) to the maintenance guy (Chuck). Mike was pleasant during the entire reservation and confirmation process, and was very considerate with a follow-up call upon checkout to get our feedback and opinions. Chuck was there within a few hours upon arrival to make sure everything was to our satisfaction, and provided some local tips and tricks for eateries, directions, etc. He was open with the instructions to call for ANYTHING that we needed, but because of the wonderful condition of the property, we never had to take him up on that offer, as we required no additional services or immediate needs. The property was clean, and believe it or not, I think the lake was cleaner. Crystal clear water! The amenities to play on the lake were enough to help pass the time and aid in the relaxation process. And the accommodations of the 3-bedroom cottage itself left nothing to be desired. Full kitchen (stocked with all the essentials - pots, pans, silverware, etc.), comfortable living room with big-screen TV with Dish Network service, and all the necessities needed in the bedrooms and bathrooms. This really was an amazing trip, at an amazing cottage, with an amazing setting. Two thumbs up, and we are already looking forward to our next stay there! Thanks for everything!

We rented the lower section of the 2 bedroom cottage - as suggested by Mike, the owner. I am a heart transplant patient and sometimes struggle with stairs. In short we would go again. This time we would rent the upper unit just so you don't have people walking on top of you - an older couple but could still hear every step. The unit was clean and the pontoon boat was old but ran fairly well. The manager, Chuck is a great asset - a very helpful guy. We felt we got our money's worth but wish that previous tennants had more respect for the property. Love the Irish Hills and plan to return.
Owner's reply:
THe previous guest had "destroyed" a screen and some other minor damage that Chuck was unable to repair prior to this guest checking in, all the needed repairs were done within an hour or so after checkin.

Family Fun at the Lake

Our recent family trip home to Michigan was an excellent one. This time instead of staying with family we decided to rent a cottage. Mike's cottage on Round Lake in Manitou Beach, MI was a great one. We stayed in the upper half of his bi-level lake front cottage. My boys ages 2 and 5 years had a blast fishing off the dock, swimming, and having there first bonfire. We had access to the paddle and row boats which my nephews and oldest son had so much fun using. We are already planning to rent Mike's place again next year, and this time will be considering renting the pontoon boat for the week too. The only reason I gave the place 4 stars was due to the garbage container and parking situation. Unfortunately the main garbage container began to smell by our fourth day and the smell could be smelt in not only our place but the next door neighbor lady said it was coming in through her windows too. So an earlier garbage pick up mid week would be beneficial especially on a busy week. The parking may be better to if spots were assigned. Twice in our 9 day stay we were blocked in by other renters who had multiple cars and boat trailers. This was quite aggravating when we had places to be. Other than that our stay was perfect. The cottage was clean, fully stocked with cooking utensils, plates, cups, coffee maker, microwave etc... The water view from the upper level was beautiful. And the hot water tank was awesome, not a cold shower all week.
Owner's reply:
Unforunately, this particular week the garbage dumpster was a major problem. I have never had this problem before, I don't know why it became an issue this week. I think someone not associated with my property illegally dumped something into the container. As for parking, sometimes parking can be an issue. I have space for about 13 cars for the 3 cottages if properly parked. Occassionally if people do not park "smartly", it lowers the amount of cars that can be parked.

Wonderful Time had by All

Wonderful Winter Retreat 2012

We stayed at the 3 bedroom ranch from November 2011 to March 2012. There was plenty of room and at the same time cozy. The large door window in the eating area allowed us to view a beautiful frozen, snowy lake.....gorgeous during typical Michigan winters. The home heat-wise was very comfortable The owner is a positive person who is great to work with and the maintenance man stays right on top of any questions we had..There were no problems at all. The home is well - maintained. We are blessed to have found such a nice house and great people to work with for our winter in Michigan. This place is highly recommended by us! :) It must be gorgeous in the spring and summer months! Enjoy!

Greatest short week ever

My husband and I just wanted an easy and relaxing vacation. Got it here - especially being able to bring our dog. He loved it and was great fun for all the area kids. Liked the bottom cottage so we could just walk out the door and be on the lake. A few issues with the stairs, but just because we are older. Loved it! Hope to go again this year at the end of August. GREAT PLACE to relax even with others in the other cottages - no problems with anyone. We all got along great.

Potential guests are frequently concerned about the other 2 cottages on the property. My property is larger than most, so there is plenty of privacy for everyone despite the lakefront being shared by the 3 cottages. Almost all guests who stay, state that they enjoyed having some other people on the property. Have owned the property for 6+ years, never have had a problem with guests having any issue with guests in other cottages.

Had a great week at the lake. My kids had a blast in the water and fishing off the dock.The water was clean and clear, without seaweed. Couldnt believe how many fish we caught. The sunrise every morning was beautiful. Took the boat out to the sandbar a few times and enjoyed that. Also the evening boat rides were really nice. We walked to the ice cream parlor which was just down the road. The accomadations couldnt have been better. We had a wonderful time, no complaints and would go back again.

Perfect setting for our needs. Close to the lake, not any sand to track into the house. Well equipped kitchen. Minor plumbing issues which the owner handled promptly.

The lake bottom at my shoreline is very shallow, with a hard sand bottom. The sand does stay in the lake. I have a local on call maintenance man who is "on call" should any issues pop up.

Just spent a long weekend at this adorable little cottage on Round Lake. The owner was wonderful and very accomodating. The lake was amazing and so clear that you could swim off the dock. It was not murky or full of seaweed which I hate. I would definitely recommend this location to anyone that wants a nice get away on the water. I personally liked the lower cottage where we stayed. There are also two other cottages located above this unit but I liked sitting on the porch and hearing the water two feet away from me.

We had a wonderful time here. The lake was beautiful, the cottage was nice. Even though it was REALLY hot while we were there, the main bedroom had air and the rest of the cottage wasn't too bad with a couple of fans going. Overall, just an great place!

Family and I had a great time staying in the 1st floor cottage.It was great that we could bring our dog and not have to worry about him. The parking on the other hand needs to be mapped out better,once we spoke to the manager about where to park the parking issues were resolved. We do plan to come back next summer for another great stay...

I have since enlarged the parking area. Each cottage has "reserved" parking for up to 3 vehicles (back to back). There is room for an additional 2 cars roadside as well. Parking diagrams are in each cottage to reduce confusion.

The accomodations were good but there was just a window unit for the air conditioner. Thank goodness it was cool in the evenings. Only issue was that you have to share the pier, paddle boat, and row boat with another cottage. Which we did not know but other than that everything was good.

At the time of this review, this particular cottage had just one window ac unit in the bedroom which kept only the bedroom cool. In June 2012 I added a 2nd ac unit in the kitchen that will help keep this cottage cooler. This cottage does get alot of sun, and is quite bright, on the hottest of summer days this cottage is likely not to be "cool" (although the main bedroom will be), but should be relatively comfortable.

We have stayed here a few times over the years, great cottage. Clean and very comfortable, great place for family. Excellent swimming, great owner and local property managers. Owner makes a few improvements each year!
