Islamorada Oasis

Oasis by defination - a refuge, as from work or stress; haven. What a wonderful ten day vacation my family of five adults, just spent here at 246 Apache Street. With almost daily visits from the wild manatees and perfect weather we couldn't have asked for much more.- This private home sleeps 6 comfortably in 3 bedrooms on main floor; 3rd story loft sleeps additional 4 singles & private granny flat on street level sleeps 2 more w/ kitchenette, living room. bathroom & walk out patio. Main floor has spacious living quarters with great screened in upper balcony. Enjoy the view with your morning coffee - my favourite thing. A variety of fun and fine dining restaurants are within easy driving distance, fish lovers heaven. Pizza around the corner for lazy, eat-in evenings. Grocery and liquor store a quick 2 mile drive to stock up on supplies. Generous stock of towels, sheets, etc available for use and full appliances made this stay for my family a great time. Beautiful private pool steps from the house and close to the canal. We would definately come back! And thank you Joe - the rental process was easy and hassle free. Craig, the on-site contact person, was friendly but unobtrusive. Thanks!

Home Away From Home

My family and I have stayed here multiple times over the years and both kids and adults have never been disappointed! The inside of the house is clean and spacious allowing guests privacy. The outside has a beautiful pool that has been wonderful for hours of swimming and relaxation along with the dock for boating, fishing and searching for manatees and iguanas! I would reccommend this house to anyone who is looking for a beautiful and convient location along with great customer service from the owners!

Definately a perfect getaway

We had such an amazing time at this house. We would definately recommend any one to stay there. My kids loved fishing off of the dock and feeding the manatee. We all enjoyed the beautiful sunrises and sunsets. Plus the house has everything you could possibly want for your vacation, spacious, clean and close to everything. We LOVE this place!!!

Awesome Time, Every time

Time of my life!!! The property is well maintained and the open floor plan on the main level is great for large groups to socialize. The place was decorated well and felt comfortable like a home more than a hotel room. The loft is great for groups of kids, 4 twin mattresses up there and "privacy" for the teenagers without isolating too much. Not sure why its listed as only sleeping 8, you can comfortable sleep 4 adult couples in the 4 bedrooms as well. I personally love to fish saltwater/blue water and being from PA the opportunities locally are limited. Here, they are literally just out back on the dock. Alternatively, A short boat ride (we rented one as well which was delivered right to the dock) puts you in some of the most famous sport fishing waters in the world. We did well with Black Fin Tuna, MahiMahi and various reef species. The house is a manageable distance from Key West as well. We made a day of it and had a blast. Have made some nights of it with friends on several trips which was great as well. Just watch for the deer crossing on the way down supposedly, still have yet to see one!! The local bars/restaurants have great poster card quality sunsets (check out my profile pic) and most will even cook your fish caught that morning. They call it "hook and cook" around there. Friendly people, great music & VERY relaxing. A more romantic Brazilian Steak House is a short drive away as well for that get a away night with the lady. The kids had a great time as well. They were feeding wild manatees with fresh water right from the dock hose, playing in the pool, jet skis, tubing on boat rides, the list just goes on and on. I have gone down every year now as often as I can. Sometimes just with a group of serious fisherman or potential clients, sometimes with family to relax and laugh. Either way, every single trip has left me with hundreds of photos and memories that will last a lifetime. Thanks!!!

Wonderful Vacation Home

We rented this home for the month of Feb. What a wonderful place it is. We had anywhere from 2 to 8 people at various times and the house was just great for visitors also. We loved having our boat tied up at our own dock and enjoyed the manatees when they came to visit. The pool was great, although a little cool when we arrived. However, it warmed up during the month and we even went swimming the last 2 weeks. The home was clean and pretty well equipped. I did purchase a few things for the kitchen while we were there but they were minor things like chip clips and cutting boards. The kitchen is like new and great for cooking for a crowd. We loved eating on the screened porch and it became a favorite place to sit and drink coffee early in the morning and enjoy watching the boats leaving the canals. The house is very well equipped with nice linens. There are quite a few sets in each bathroom so you have plenty for guests also. It was such a pleasure not to have those thin, cheap towels and sheets like in some homes you rent. The owners have provided lots of beach towels also. This house is in a great location to get around the upper keys. It was easy to ride bikes to nearby places and we enjoyed riding through the neighborhood also. You can easily drive to Key West from Islamorada and spend the day and be back that evening. Some members of our party went into Florida City to play golf a few times and didn't mind the drive either. Some of our favorite places to go by boat and eat on the water were: Islamorada Fish Company, (they have great fresh seafood to buy also), Lorelei, and Island Grill. We also enjoyed the Cheeca Lodge, Robbie's, Dillon's, Snapper's. and The Big Chill. The food and atmosphere is wonderful at all of these. The only place we had a truly bad meal was Craig's...we DO NOT recommend it. Robbie's was a fun place to go and rent kayaks and tour the mangrove tunnels and lovely water around there. You can also feed the tarpon and watch the many pelicans vying for food. All in all there is so much to do that we needed another month to take advantage of everything. Craig, the caretaker for this house, is a great guy and so helpful. We really enjoyed getting to know him and his son, James, also. They were so helpful to us in getting to know the shallow waters in the bay off of our canal.

We enjoyed the home tremendously. It had plenty of space and convenient access to the gulf and ocean. The owners and care givers for the property were a pleasure to deal with at all times. We recommend this home for your Keys vacation.

Family Reucation!

What a wonderful trip and beautiful house. We traveled with four families and this house was perfect. Plenty of room for the children to play and plenty of room for the fishermen too. The house was an ideal location for us. Close to the Gulf and not to long of a boat ride to the Atlantic. The dock space was awesome. We had 2 boats and a jet ski with us and had plenty of room. Not to mention the fishing from the dock was fun for the kids too. The house had plenty of space for our boat trailers and cars. Never did we feel crowded. The pool was FANTASTIC! My little girl really became a fish in that pool and will hold special memories! When can we book again? Julie

Awsome Vacation

Me and my Girlfriend decided to take a vacation with a couple of family members and i must say this home is by far beautiful inside and out... the backyard view is breathtaking during sunrise and sunset... and the best part is the manatees come up to the dock and they are super friendly... We went fishing on the dock and no lie we caught about 150 fish from the dock only.... the kitchen is big and very clean, the beds are very confortable also..... i recomend this spot to everyone and anyone that plans to take a vacation.

Islamorada Family Reunion

Perfect house in perfect location for a family reunion. We had 8 adults and 3 children together in this house and had room for 2 more people so space was not an issue. My elderly parents were able to stay in the ground floor apartment which worked out wonderfully for their comfort. I think we spent the entire vacation either in the pool or fishing dockside or grilling at the patio. Never had to leave really to have a good time. But the location was so close to so many activities we managed to have the vacation of a lifetime. Plus the manatees! we had six come visit us at once on the last evening before leaving, just wonderful. The caretaker was very nice and responsive to all our questions. I hope we can come back next year. Thanks for everything! :)

Great Place!

Great place right on the water. The pool was great and we got use of it since the weather was pretty warm. We saw the manatees right off the dock and caught a lot of fish! The owners even put together a list of local restaurants and attractions, which made it easy for us to rent a boat, have dinner with views of the sunset and check out some of the more 'touristy' stuff. We are definitely are going back and staying at this house!

Group of 8

Our group of 8 adults had a pleasant stay. The house is quite nice, roomy, nice dock setting, kitchen is well-equipped. The 2nd & 3rd bedrms are on the smaller side w/Queen Beds(?)it says, but we were thinking they looked more full size beds?, all BRs have TVs. There are not alot of lights except in the kitchen area & MBR so on cloudy days it feels kinda dark inside. Also, there are alot of stairs up to the main level of the house from the front door/driveway level; and more stairs up to a nice loft area w/two twin beds. There is a sm apt on the street level with a separate entrance on the waterside of the house, which is a nice touch. Bring or rent a boat, like to fish, watersports, & warm weather and you will enjoy your stay - we did even though it was cooler than normal while we were there.

Guestbook

Dear Marina and Joe,

I hope this email finds you both well.

Yes, indeed we did have a wonderful vacation/wedding. I would like to thank you for all your patience and understanding with me. All the hard work paid off and the wedding was absolutely beautiful. Food was wonderful and the weather couldn't have been better if we'd ordered it!!

It's been hard coming back to the 'real' world!! LOL Started back at the school this week and will return to the hospital next. (I'm easing into the 'work' routine)

I want to thank Craig for being right there. You are lucky to have such a good neighbor and manager for your house. He launched the canoe for us to enjoy and volunteered to get it out of the water after our stay. We enjoyed going up and down the canal in it. He is a very nice person.

Also would like to thank you for having such comfortable beds. I usually don't sleep well away from home because of that. I slept like a baby from the first night.

Thank you for giving me and me family such good memories.

Sincerely,

Jennie Harrison
Mother-in-law??? (Still getting used to that title!! LOL)

Jennie's stay was from 5/9/2013 to 5/16/2013
