Istanbul is one of the most cosmopolitan cities in the world. While the majority of the population are Muslims, it's a mix of cultures and backgrounds fused together in one city. It has a mix of Jewish, Greek and Armenian populations. It is a city where one can truly experience Middle Eastern and Western cultures all at once. From fashionable boutiqes of Nisantasi to the merchants of the Covered Bazaar, this busy city is home to many people from very diverse backgrounds, with the commonality of it's rich history. Turkey's geography makes it a wonderful blend of peoples and places. Magnificent scenery along the Bosphorus has drawn people from the ancient world to the contemporary. Istanbul, comprising both the European and Asian sides of the Bosphorus is a stunning amalgam of sights and sounds. Thousands of years of history is combined with a vibrant, modern and exciting city unlike any other in the world. To fully experience Istanbul takes a lifetime, as there are so many corners, nooks and crannies that demand to be experienced. To visit only the mosques and Bazaar is to miss the essence of Istanbul. While an acient country and culture, the Turkish Republic is remarkable youthful, having been declared by Attaturk in 1922. Attaturk's drive for secular, modern country continues today in Turkey's aspiration to join the EU.

After 2 days we had to change hotel, because the advertised benefits did not match what was on the site. Including no gym. No window. Street noise directly came in. Water plumb smelled like rotten fish. Reception located 200m away outside. No staff in the building whole day and night. No everyday cleaning of the room. Room flooded after heavy rain. I hope this apartment stops making lies after lies. Very bad place.

We stayed at Sultanahmet Suites in a 1 bedroom suite. It was new and decorated Turkish style. It had everything we needed and the staff were very helpful. We were able to breakfast each day in a patisserie with locals (a few doors down from the appartment) and join in with locals at the local restaurants. I would recommend this appartment if you like to mix with local Turkish people. It is a short walk to all the tourist attractions eg Grand Bazzar, Blue Mosque etc. We were assisted with airport transfers, shopping for a camera when I broke mine and a personalised tour to Gallipoli. A;; in all I throughly recommend this establishment.

PLEASE publish this story, because could happen to anybody. This is a valuable information for any tourists. We don't recommend Sultanahmet Suites. We were harassed and insulted by the owner, after he was enraged by a seroius dispute with us about a hidden cost. He shouted at us, and we were very scared by the level of his abrnomal anger. Later I wrote about this on tripadvisor. Then the owner immediately called my home from Istanbul, after midnight. He yelled at me, and threatened me as follows: “I tell you something. I will go to your embassy. I have all the copies of your e-mails and everything. You only have 48 hours to clean up what you have written about me to tripadvisor. So you either do that, or I will be a trouble for you.” (tape-recorded) Then his wife threatened me by e-mail. She is currently insulting me all over the web. This is how a guest will be treated, once a problem occurs, and once he writes a critical review online. PLEASE AVOID THIS PROPERTY!

The owner and his wife are very rude. They threaten guests to delete reviews. They expose guest privacy on the internet. Everyone must avoid this place.
