A bit of heaven on earth...a Hidden Treasure (#39252)

Jenner, California

Description of the Jenner vacation cottage rental

Hidden Treasure! Experience a very romantic cottage nestled amongst the rocks and pines of the Central Sonoma coast. Located on two private acres, this ocean front property offers views of incredible sunsets, sea lions on nearby rocks, migrating whales and wild deer. You can watch the stars from the hot tub on the cliff top at night and let the sound of the ocean surf lull you to sleep after enjoying a nice glass of wine on the deck. Sonoma and Napa's fabled wine country begins an hour away by car.
Hidden Treasure is located 25 minutes north of Jenner by the Sea.

Hidden Treasure is best for a couple alone or with up to two children.

One of our past guests describes Hidden Treasure best:

Hidden Treasure is a unique residence and location of breathtaking beauty, regardless of weather or season. The house is a perfect honeymoon destination or retreat for a couple looking to escape from the harried days of ordinary life. From the stunning, unique, wrought-iron bannister that dominates the home's core, to the manner in which the house was built directly into the hillside and the stupefying views from literally every room, Hidden Treasure is as much a wonder in its design as in its location. Perched on a bluff about 50 feet over crashing waves, the house offers great privacy, even though neighbors are within 100 yards on either side; the design of each lot is tasteful enough that many of the houses cannot be viewed from each other. True bliss is sitting in the hot tub, watching the waves, whales, birds, sunset, storms, seals or stars. Having stayed at many world class hotels, Paradise Bluff is in that class in design and locale especially. And the enormous high definition television and stereo don't hurt either.

 A Whale of a Fine Vacation, August 24, 2009
By Robert G Glantz (Berkeley, CA)
Our stay at HT was heavenly. Sitting on the deck and/or in the hot tub, scanning the seas for whales was a thrill. Thursday was Whale Day. We saw saw at least two pods breaching, spouting and diving all day. The home is magnificent and beautifully appointed. A few suggestions: A railing on the deck might prevent a dangerous fall. A starter load of firewood (with a note where to buy more) would make for a cozier welcome. Finally, the stairs to the bedroom are very slick in stocking feet. While it would be a shame to ruin the look of the wooden staircase with a runner, you might consider a varnish with grit of some sort in it to make the steps safer. Would we come back to HT? Definitely yes. The beauty, tranquility and luxury of the property make it an ideal retreat from the roar and the hustle of the city. Soaking in the hot tub, feeling the cool ocean breeze on one's face and hearing the surf roar on the cliffs below is a rare and enriching experience. My one regret was having to come home after six nights at HT.
Owner Supplied Testimonials
My advice for anyone considering staying here is - take the maximum number of days you think you would like to stay. Got the number? Now, either double or triple that number. This place "rocks"! both literally (see the cliff the house is built into and the indoor waterfall) and per the current slang. But be forewarned, the longer you stay, the less you will want to leave. I stayed a week -- that did not even begin to be long enough. The view, the privacy, the almost surreal quiet and the romantic ambience are incredible. I've stayed in some truly wonderful places up and down the California coast - this is now by far my favorite. As an added bonus -- while sitting in the jacuzzi - we watched whales jumping and slapping their tales and saw porpoises go by close in to the private cove. Enjoy!

Our family has rented vacation homes for the past twenty years, always taking meticulous care to choose those that will nurture and nourish us. Many have been special enough to bring us back time after time. However, in a unanimous vote, we declare your remarkable Timber Cove home the best ever. Everything about this home is aesthetically pleasing, from the incredible ocean views and restful sounds of the indoor waterfall to the thoughtful design and construction of each room and the house as a whole. The home enveloped and embraced us. We relished every moment and left reluctantly. Thank you for sharing your unique and extraordinary creation with us. We long to return. Gail, Matt and Kelsey
This spot had virtually all the ingredients for a romantic getaway -- privacy, views, unique character, outdoor jacuzzi, fireplace, great sound system and location, location, location.
