Getting Away from a Busy Life
September 2, 2012
Our stay was an ideal getaway before fall. It was quiet and relaxing, on a cove surrounded by blueberry fields and we rested well our entire stay. We hiked and kayaked nearby and also visited a swimming beach across the bay from us. The tides in the area are quite dramatic.

Comfortable Solitude
August 19, 2012
Our family chose Maine to escape the August summer heat and humidity. It was our first trip to Maine. We didn't realize how scenic and peaceful this location in Jonesport would be. There was so much to do that we easily could have spent another week exploring the Maine Coast. There's nearby beaches, hiking, restaurants, etc. A couple of days we chose to just stick around the cabin and enjoy Mason Bay and it's peaceful surroundings. The cabin had everything we needed to make our vacation a relaxing and rejuvenating stay. It was a vacation that my wife, the kids and I will remember forever. Not only that, we're probably going to make this an annual tradition. I would highly recommend this cabin to anyone looking to get away from it all, yet have everything you need at the same time.

Incredibly quiet
July 30, 2012
This was our second visit to the cottage. It was as fabulous as last year. Never saw or heard a person while at the cottage. We saw beautiful sunsets from the porch Saw lots of birds – even took a ride out to see the puffins. Very quiet – felt rejuvenated. Centrally located between Machias and Jonesport.

comfortable retreat
July 30, 2012
This cottage in the woods has many amenities to make guests feel at home. Surrounded by blueberry fields, it is the last cabin on a dirt road with coastal frontage so it is very private. At low tide, it is an easy walk along the beach. We loved meeting up at the end of the day in the "bar." Actually, it is better than the photos in the listing.

A perfect home for exploring Down East Maine
July 22, 2012
My wife and I stayed at the cabin for a week. We had a wonderful time. While it is close enough to Acadia, we found that we spent most of our time hiking at closer locations and visiting local towns. The Jonesport area is great for getting away from everything, and perfect for a vacation. The cabin is located on a hill overlooking Mason Bay, and you can sit on the screened-in porch and watch the tide come in and out. Also it is located a fair distance from the main road, so you never hear car traffic.

Very Relaxing
September 27, 2011
This is a very peaceful, relaxing oceanfront cabin. We enjoyed a very nice week with the tides and birds at ebb and low tide. Highly recommended for a family getaway.

We had another wonderful stay at the cabin. This was our 2nd year and we look forward to returning again. The peace and quiet is wonderful. The cabin is well supplied we only have to bring food and books to read. This is a wonderful area away from all of the tourists. Great place for our family retreat.

Wonderful cabin & vacation
July 26, 2011
Our family thoroughly enjoyed our week in the cabin. It was so well stocked with things we didn't even know we needed. We had a most relaxing and comfortable stay and it was even more idyllic than the pictures conveyed. Jonesport is a very quiet town, but an easy drive to tons of other spots if more adventure is what you desire. Within just 20 minutes or less from the cabin, we enjoyed the Sandy Beach right in town, hiking and exploring Great Wass, Roque Bluffs beach, and a couple of great restaurants in Machias. We also enjoyed a few day trips to Bar Harbor (about an hour and 20 minutes away) for boat tours, walks along the shore, shopping, and of course, Acadia National Park. About an hour in the other direction and well worth the drive, is Quoddy Head Lighthouse, at the eastern most point in the United States. Beautiful and breath-taking view. If quiet is what you seek, look no further than the cabin! We enjoyed quiet mornings reading in the screen porch and listening to the sounds of only the shore birds below. Our 5-year old daughter loved exploring the tidal inlet every morning to find "treasures" and our 2 dogs enjoyed walks along the blueberry fields in the mornings. One morning, we saw a mother and baby deer who examined us for quite a while. It was wonderful to return to the cabin each afternoon or evening. A reprieve in every way. It was always at least 10 degrees cooler there. The weather was perfect during our week - it never rained once and was in the 80s each day (or higher), although I believe that was unusual. Our week was thoroughly enjoyable and relaxing and we'd love to return again!

Wonderfully private and cozy cabin
May 28, 2011
If you are looking for a cozy, secluded and comfortable seaside getaway this is the place for you. Even though we had cold and rainy weather 5 out of 6 days we had a wonderful stay as the cabin is a great place to hang out and read, play games and put puzzles together. Lots of nice walks with the dogs on dirt and gravel roads along side the blueberry fields. A Bald Eagle flew right by the porch window one morning. Fun day trips too - Helen's Restaurant in Machias is famous for their pies, great hike to the sea in Cutler, and Lubec is lovely. Highly recommended!

Great Getaway!
September 28, 2010
We wanted a beautiful place to recover from some health issues and found it in this comfortable cabin in Jonesboro, Maine! Watching the Bay fill and empty each day monitored by the flocks of birds; buying fresh lobster right off the boat; watching whales off rugged cliffs leading to the ocean. Very quiet location. Loved it! All amenities except TV which we didn't want...

Much needed break
October 30, 2009
Just what was the Dr ordered. It was a pleasant and very peaceful vacation. Relaxing on the front porch watching the sunset over the bay in peace and quite while enjoying a good glass of wine, couldn't be beat. The cabin was spacious and very well equipped. We look forward to coming back!

Perfect Honeymoon
August 19, 2009
The weeks leading up to our wedding were extremely hectic, so this was the perfect place to recoup! We canoed the bay at high tide, biked around, explored the beach, and spent a few hours watching eagles and osprey from the porch. We also made a couple of day trips to Acadia and Bar Harbor. The cabin itself is full of woodsy-seaside charm and left us wanting for nothing. The only disappointment was that the gobs of blueberries growing in the fields are not to be picked as they are owned by local farmers... but the ones we bought from the roadside stand were delicious! We definitely plan on returning to this small slice of perfection!

We spent a very relaxing week in this attractive cabin--highly recommended! Tucked away in the woods, with just the right amount of shade and sun. Beautiful view onto tidal water. The cabin feels spacious, and it has plenty of creature comforts to feel cozy during rainy weather. For us--we are musicians--it was heavenly to have absolute quiet, only interuupted by nature sounds.

Relaxation Maine-style
June 19, 2009
A week up in that cabin was exactly what we needed. The location was perfect for numerous day trips of hiking, shopping, and exploring the northeast corner of our country. The seafood right from the docks in Jonesport was wonderful and the cabin had everything we needed to unwind from the craziness of normal day-to-day life. Even though it rained and was a lot chillier than Florida weather I'm used to, the cabin was a great place to be for the week. I will definitely try to come back again in the future!

In 1854, Thoreau wrote that divinity was present in nature and the human soul. Fast forward to 2008. This cabin was “Walden” with modern amenities. If you love beauty and nature, the ebb and flow of tides, lobsters fresh from the sea and tranquility; this is your destination. Our stay was a journey of discovery and rediscovery. Thanks for sharing your paradise.

Me and three of my friends rented this cabin for a week and had an amazing time! The cabin was extremely clean and cozy. Everything you would need was supplied; towels, dishes, trash bags, etc. The view was beautiful from the back porch and the little fire pit in the front was nice as well. I would highly recomend this cabin to anyone who is looking for a nice relaxing week! Also the owner Mr. Gandy is one of the easiest people to work with, he made sure that everything was all set for us and I thank him for that!

I was expecting something nice. I was wowed. I have 4 small children ages 3 to 8, they can't stop talking about the cabin. The master bedroom with its own bath was a great luxory away from home. The cabin is cozy yet roomy enough for all of us. The water is perfect for little kids, we were able to let our kids walk way out and splash around, they didn't want to leave. Nearby you have Roques Bluff state park and Acadia is a manageable drive away. The place is well equiped and Nathan (the owner) very gracious and accomodating. Rent this place, you won't regret it. We hope to visit again.

A very quiet and peaceful spot. Not much to explore at low tide as the ground is mostly mud, but Wass Island is about 10 minutes away and a beautiful place to hike. The cabin is spectacular. Very clean, comfortable, we made ourselves at home.
