-units, right in town, with a great staff. Date: May 27, 2009

Best things about resort
Very nice landscaping, close to everything, staff could not be better.

Best attractions or restaurants nearby
If you do nothing else, be sure to snorkel or dive with the Manta Rays. Captain Mark on the Neptune is great. For a great fishing trip try the Camelot. They will do whatever you want for your time on the boat.

Reviews:
-Our unit was clean, big, and air conditioned very well. The grounds are lush and the groundskeeping is top notch. The staff catered to our every need. The kitchen is well equipped, and the staff brought us a coffee grinder for our beans. Gotta have that Kona coffee nice and fresh.

This is the big island and a car is an absolute necessity. Allow plenty of driving time because the speed limits are relatively low. If you do the Hilo side, be sure to take the side roads north of Hilo. We found triple stepped waterfalls in lava tubes with rainforest all around. Be sure to tour the Hilton if man made wonders are on your agenda.

Go to South Point and if you are very adventurous, jump off the cliff. If you rented a four wheel drive vehicle, you can drive down to the green sand beach too.

Volcano National Park has as many craters as you might ever wish to see.

And if you snorkel, go to the small park near Keahou. Fish Fish and more Fish, in stand up deep water. This was the best snorkelling I found in the Hawaiian islands thirty years ago, and it is still the best today. You don't even need to swim, just put on a mask and wade around putting your head in the water from time to time. There were six turtles in the tide pool the day we went.

-Lush and Lovely
Best things about resort
Good location on Ali'i drive, easy to access to restaurants, shopping and beaches. Lush grounds, bananas hanging from the trees, nice pool areas, private and even some heritage sites on property.

Best attractions or restaurants nearby
Many restaurants,Buba Gumps,Outback, Hard Rock our favorite was the shushi, tappa restaurant upstairs in Waterfront Row next to Hale Halawai park. Very good food, lovely patio service, over looking the surf on the rocks. In the same complex there is a engaging young man selling photos.Who will willing share stories on how the pictures were taken. Some good adventures behind the pictures.

We spent the last three days of a ten day holiday at Kona Hawaiian Village. We had done alot of sight seeing before arriving at the resort so we were happy to have such a lovely place to wind down.

Both pool areas, were lovely and not to busy. The water was warm, and the sand bottom spa pool very relaxing. We found the suite well appointed ,the kitchen had every thing we needed. There was a bit of an issue with ants however,we just made sure not to leave any food out. Both bedrooms were a good size with comfortable beds. The pull out was o.k. .would be fine for kids. It was a nice touch to find cards and boardgames in the living room cabinet. Eating out on the large lanai was a pleasure just to note :we found there were quite a few cats around ,not a problem for us;but it could be for some folks. The resort is handy to enjoy the tourist venues of the island. We did the the Altantis sub trip and really enjoyed it. On one day we took a short drive south and saw the painted church and Place of Refuge.Wonderfully maintained site with a rich history. They also have very cool wheelchairs to make the entire site handicap friendly. This resort is a treasure, and the island is a jewel.

--Great location, very nice units, pleasant property Date: February 20, 2008

Best things about resort
Large master unit and good sized 2nd bedroom. Roomy living space and dining on the lanai. Stacked washer/dryer in 2nd bathroom behind closet door but still a good sized bathroom. Provided pack and play for the baby! Close enough for us to walk to town.

Best attractions or restaurants nearby
There is a nice health food grocery store, Kona Natural Foods, in the inside corner of the parking lot near Safeway above Wallmart. We bought bulk oats, coconut etc. for wonderful breakfasts. Farmers market in town (Thursday? and Friday?) has papayas 4 or 5 for $1.00. Try the rambutan, red spiky looking outside, peel and they have delicious flesh around a seed.

Review
This was our first exchange with RCI and we sure did pick a good one. The ambience of the resort was fabulous, with 2 story units and 2 units top and 2 bottom there was plenty of space between the buildings.
We only went to the pool area closest to our unit but it had a waterfall cascading into the sand bottom hot tub!
The worst thing about the unit we had was the very dull knives. I do a lot of cooking and it took some effort to trim the fish. Next time we will bring a sharp knife from home. Also, don't forget your coffee filters! Couldn't get the wi fi from the room, just the from the lobby.
We did go to the presentation. It was peddled to us as an RCI update but we figured they were going to also offer ones for sale. They did fill us in on the Wyndham points system which we like, but this is the last presentation we will get talked in to going to. Got a $100 gift certificate for Costco and had fun using that up. We did like this resort enough that we bought a week on the secondary market.

Best things about resort
Everything is very close to this resort as you are right on Alii Drive. At the resort the pool and BBQ areas are very well maintained. Units are large and tastefully decorated. We got an upstairs unit and could see the ocean and beautiful sunsets from our lani.

Best attractions or restaurants nearby
As you come in from the airport there is a Costco this is a good place to get food and gas. There is also a Wal-Mart close by the resort. One of the best beaches for snorkling is Kahalu'u Beach Park (about 10 mins south from the resort) lots of tropical fish and turtles. If you want long sandy beaches head north to the Kohala Coast. Hapuna Beach is half a mile of white sand.

The units are well maintained and we liked the theme of the old Hawaiian Village. The orientation was helpful. Before you leave home buy a book by Andrew Doughty....."Hawaii The Big Islan Revealed" it was the most useful book about Hawaii. It has everything you need to know about the Big Island. Overall this was one of the best vacations we have ever had and hopefully we will be able to come back to this resort again.

Best things about resort
Plenty space in flat, the best I have had since a Penthouse apartment in Los Christianos Holywood Mirage. Good location for a cyclist, straight out on the road. Friendly people in the reception and a lovely hula girl just passed by in the reception where I am writing this via the wireless network.

Best attractions or restaurants nearby
Bike Works and other cyclists nearby. Mauna Kea is a day's ride on the bike, North and South Hwys are not that crowded and cycle paths on the shoulder is plenty. Share the road! Kona harbour nearby, Lava Java is good for lunch.

--Very nice units and property, gorgeous swimming Date: October 9, 2007

Best things about resort
Very close to Alii Dr, the main drag through a picturesque town, close to many beaches, the grocery, and a Walmart. Definitely go to the orientation and Aloha Tuesday, which are free even if you decide not to do the tour. The orientation is actually very helpful, and the Aloha Tues had fresh flower leis, local music, and hula lessons. Units are gorgeous with lanais and a courtyard setup, grills, kids loved the pools.

Best attractions or restaurants nearby
snorkling (Use Fair Wind to get to Kealakekua Bay-definitely worth the money), Place of Refuge, a million places to eat(all pricey), lots of cheap things to do in parks. Most of the great things to do are within 45 min., Volcano Nat Park about 2.5 hours, Waipio Valley about 2 hours, Parker Ranch 1.5 hours, Akaka Falls 3.25 hours

--Best things about resort
large units, and only 2 units in each building.

Best attractions or restaurants nearby
Beaches nearby, and walk to town, lots of restaurants nearby.

This property was great for our family of four. The 2br unit has spacious bedrooms, a washer dryer, BIG showers, and a great tub in the master. the lanai made dining really nice. they had allot of activities if you want, and the programs such as the aloha and mahalo parties were worth the time.

Low pressure on the presentation, which is nice... we still went to it, as the goodies they offer are great, the sales center even had a kids room!

The pools were great, our kids wanted to go 2 or 3 times a day! they have chairs and umbrellas for borrowing, which was a big savings and made the beach much more enjoyable! Gas BBQ's are available for your grilling needs!

Overall a great place, we would go back in a heartbeat.
