BIG ISLAND FAMILY FUN
Hawaii’s Big Island is a big ohana, and that means family, whether it’s a traditional mom & dad and kids, blended, extended, multi generational family reunion or a group of old friends. The Big Island ohana embraces groups of people traveling together, of different ages, with different interests and tastes. And there’s an adventure waiting for anyone with a sense of play and imagination.

In one day, a family can experience the desert like lava plains along the Kona Coast and the rainiest city in America, Hilo. Go from sea level to the world’s tallest mountain Mauna Kea (13,796 when measured from sea level, 33,500 from the ocean floor), cruise through green rainforest or black lava rock. Watch whales, swim with dolphins, whisper to horses or listen to rare birdsong. The Big Island will offer you a vacation of a lifetime.

The Big Island of Hawaii offers a vast array of fantastic and fun filled cultural, scenic and eco friendly activities and excursions.

It’s all here on the Big Island, in a Big Way!

Awesome family fun filled adventures on the Big Island of Hawaii:

Big Island Air: Consider seeing the Island from a bird’s eye view. Your options of either a helicopter or fixed wing aircraft will enable you to view towering waterfalls and inaccessible valleys on the Hamakua Coast, black sand beaches bays and even aerial whale watches, along with fantastic views of the North Kohala, Mauna Kea and Mauna Loa mountains as you approach Hawaii Volcano National Park and witness “Madame Peles” incredible Lava handiwork. An air tour could well be the highlight of your Big Island Visit!
Experience a Snorkeling Excursion: Snorkeling allows you to experience the beauty of Hawaii’s underwater world and meet its inhabitants, including Dolphins, green sea turtles colorful tropical fish, eels and even graceful manta rays, and can be enjoyed by all! You will be able to select from high speed “Zodiac” rafts or you may opt for a large catamaran vessel with all of the creature comforts you desire, as you explore Hawaii’s amazing marine preserves. Snorkeling isn’t just for anybody- it’s for everybody.
Indulge yourself at a luau: Lu’au is the Hawaiian word for food, culture and entertainment rolled into one celebration. Select one of your evenings to attend an oceanfront cultural feast offering over twenty selections of Hawaiian and traditional dishes. The center piece being the “Kalua Pig” roasted in an underground oven called an ‘imu’ for about 12 hours, while you enjoy the dance, chants and music of the Polynesian islands. Make sure you stay and witness the FIRE dancers’ grand finale!
Whale and Dolphin Boat Tours: One of the best shows in Paradise takes place every day in the coastal waters of the Big Island. The show is put on by the various species of whales and dolphins that are not far offshore. Hawaii’s best known visitor is the magnificent humpback whale that will captivate you in the winter months, and enjoy our year round resident dolphin population. Many types of vessels are available for you to choose from.
Relax and enjoy a Guided Tour: The Big Island gets its name due to its size which is a little more than 4,000 square miles. Car tours around the island are fantastic, or consider an air conditioned sightseeing motor coach or bus tour. Your tour will include waterfalls, black sand beaches, orchid nurseries, and of course the Volcano National Park. Sit back and relax while your professional driver shares the island culture, natural history and geography of the Big Island
Golfing In Paradise: The Big Island of Hawaii is a golfer’s dream come true. Experience the most beautiful courses in the world. Choose from many courses located from sea level to 3000 foot elevation, select from a challenging oceanfront or a mountain side Scottish style links course. You will find a round worth remembering. Golfing on the Big Island is surely “Golfing in Paradise”!

If we haven’t featured your optimal vacation experience yet you may opt for:

A romantic sunset dinner cruise
World class sport fishing

And believe it or not much more!

Beautiful and relaxing. My husband and I just returned from KCR and we really hated to leave. We just returned two days ago from a 2 wk stay and loved it. It is a beautiful island and the resort is just like home. The staff are excellent!! They are very attentive to your needs, courteous and friendly. The accommodations were perfect. The concierge, Katie Butler was phenomenal. The staff at the spa are very friendly and the spa was great. The grounds are nice and tidy all day, everyday! What a great place for rest and relaxation. AWESOME!!!

This was our first visit to the Kona Coast Resort II. We took our two young sons for their first trip to Hawaii and thought that the Kona Coast Resort would be a good selection for a family trip! We weren't disappointed! We reserved a one bedroom unit and were pleasantly surprised at the spaciousness. One item that we particulary liked was that the unit had two full bathrooms. Mom and Dad got to have their own bath! Yeah! The resort staff were extremely friendly and helpful. On premises there were tennis courts, volley ball, shuffle board and of course the swimming pools. In addition the "Splash" Office rents out equipment and provides free sign out for "family board games" to play at night. Another plus of staying at the Kona Coast II was that you are only a couple minutes walk away from a shopping center that has a grocery store and post office. There is plenty to do or you can just relax and take in the beautiful view! We have already decided that we are returning next Christmas.
