Best part of the day was watching the sunset...
August 16, 2012
In 10 days I missed only 2 sunsets, as we travelled out of Kona. I watched all the other ones from the lanai of the house, which has a great view of the ocean. Other things we enjoyed about this house: no matter how hot it would get, there was a little bit of a breeze, the living room felt airy and pleasant... With the trees around it, shade and its location above most of the town, the lanai was where we ended up spending most of out time. The kitchen has everything you need, it is clean, the space is well organized and functional. Excellent accommodation for my family and our friends.
First time visitors are pleasantly surprised to find that summers in Hawaii are much cooler than most of the mainland. Usually our hottest heat wave day of the summer ...is about 88 or 89. Never weather temps up in the 90's, with most summer days about 87. With the constant tropical breezes, its why we call it paradise on earth. Keep in mind the SUN sets .. year around between 6 and 7 p.m . which cools the nights down fast. PARADISE .

Two week retreat

we stayed here with our 3 small children and my parents for 15 days. There was plenty of room for all of us and the house was well equipt with supplies and beach toys. The view is something we miss the most, and the beautiful trees and shrubs. The window screens and doors don't close 100% so you do get the occasional visitor in the house, (geckos) but otherwise for the price and the quality of the home, this was a great place to stay. Our community representative was great, and very accommodating, our kids even got a pool for the deck to play in when we where at home, and on our last day he was very flexible in giving us a few extra hours with the house. Not to mention he provided us with free car seats, they would have been about $250 to rent. I hope we have the chance to stay here again, thank you for everything.
We love having small children and babies - free use of day cribs, high chairs and strollers.
Our home gets its name honestly . Awesome views of the whales playing and wide angle sunsets Ben the maintenance man has adjusted the screens . The doors get lots of " play " with little guests running in and out. We can't always accommodate later check outs i.e. if other guests are arriving the same day, but are happy to help out if no guests are arriving till the next day. If available on booking , a late check out purchase at half rate is also available - giving you the home till midnight. A great half rate option for those that don't want to take their chances. - our little Aloha

This was our second stay at this wonderful house. I would highly recommend it. I don't like to read the other reviews as it reminds me that this isn't MY home, and that other people stay here. I would love to be able to call this house my home. It has everything that you could possibly need to have a wonderful vacation. I have nothing negative to say about it at all, except the fact that the deed doesn't have my name on it!!!!

This was the best trip we took to Hawaii. Thanks for the service you provided. It sure was easy to book with you. Everyone enjoyed staying at this home. Very convenient. I think it is the best value on the island. - Bertram Young, San Francisco August 2011
We found the Whale Watch Home to be a good value, especially with the size of our party. Hotel rooms would have been much costlier. We found the beds to be comfortable and we all slept very well. Enjoy the sunsets from the lanai, even if it is cloudy, you might be surprised. The house was very comfortable and well located and we look forward to returning to Whale Watch House. Bring good binoculars. -- Don Bua and Family, Ukiah, Ca April 2010
It was very fun and nostalgic to be living in"our" Whale Watch Home for a week. That home has lots of memories for our family and it was great to be able to share our vacation with our adult children and some friends. ... As building contractors, we lead a very busy life here on Anderson Island. To see my husband Paul relax on the lanai and serenade us every morning with the ukulele was really the highlight of this vacation for me! Mahalo for making it all possible! - Bridget Larsen, Anderson Island WA, Dec. 2007
We had a great time and enjoyed the Whale Watch home immensely. Beautiful view and great neighbourhood. There was only one day that we did not spot whales! The geckos provided lots of amusement - especially the evening one of them took on a huge moth on the lanai and took a chunk out of its wing! - Margaret Waddell, Saskatoon Saskatchewan, Jan. 2008
We had a wonderful stay at your house. Good location, fabulous view, and plenty of space for our family... The beds were great, as was the weather. And thanks for supplying the baby items, i.e. crib, high chair, toys etc. We also appreciated the boogie boards, beach toys, and flippers. I would definitely recommend others to stay at the Whalewatch Home. Cheers, Blake Kadane - Feb. 2008, Calgary, Alberta
After my stay at your place we moved down to the Marriott (a company meeting): boy were we sorry. I told everyone how great your place was. I would love to stay at this house again... Thank you for making my family's trip so nice. - Scott Lucas & Family, Feb. 2008, Modesto, CA
We had a really great time. The house was beautiful and well equipped. There were plenty of cleaning supplies and bags, foil, et cetera. Everyone slept comfortably and soundly. We also really appreciated not having to rent our own body boards. Our experience was totally positive. We actually saw many more whales than expected from the lanai and it was also nice to watch people surf Lyman's. Thanks again, Tonia White - Feb/Mar 2008, Portland OR
We had such a wonderful time at the whalewatch home! We especially enjoyed our surprise visitors... the geckos. It was fantastic how well equipped for kids you were... We will absolutely stay with you again, and we are hoping to make it to Kona again. Thanks for making our vacation special. Hope to see you again, The Guss family
Ps we've rented many beach houses on East coast beaches, and none have been so well supplied. It was particularly nice have the paper products ect. - John & Julie Guss, Sewickley, PA, Mar. 2008
Very little to improve on in the house - it was very comfortable, beds were great (I've a bad back and didn't have any problems), kitchen was well fitted out, etc. There was nothing at all we needed that wasn't there, the place was very clean and well maintained and it was the first property we've rented anywhere that has had so many supplies in - normally you have to go out and buy cleaning supplies, etc., and it was great to have everything there. - Des & Maria Meagher Slane, Co Meath Irland July 2008
Thanks for your help whilst we were staying in Whale Watch house. We had a wonderful time and the house was great. - Cheers and thanks again, Matthew Dusting, Victoria Aus. Oct. 2008
