Ohana - the perfect retreat - Outstanding

We just got back from our Hawaii vacation and will be talking about it for months. The Ohana retreat was perfect for our growing family! We had plenty of room, tons to do, fresh fruit and great coffee everyday. A wonderful pool, tennis courts, shuffleboard and private patios off of each bedroom. The pavilion is fantastic for evenings and late night conversation. Most of all Matt, Lisa and Alvin are fantastic hosts and helpful with all the details that make a vacation special. I whole heartedly recommend Ohana retreat!

This was the best of the best. Fresh fruit every morning. I was part of a lucky group of people who got to stay here for a wedding. We had both houses booked so the entire retreat was ours to use. They have so many wonderful amenities. The rooms are amazing- the beds are completely comfortable. The fact that they have so many items to use in their garage for beach going was WONDERFUL and saves money on kayak rentals and whatnot throughout the island. I would HIGHLY recommend this retreat. Very safe- in a wonderful part of Kona.

Our family of 15 came from all over the mainland (some of us kama'ainas) and had an absolutely wonderful week! There are not enough superlatives to describe our experience! Randel and Alvin were so welcoming and accommodating. The house is incredible, well-equipped for family meals and fit us all very comfortably. We strolled the beautiful grounds and took advantage of the fresh fruit every day (we could not get enough of the ripened-on-the tree papayas and mangoes!). The location is ideal for heading into town, shopping, beaches and touring around, but away from the hustle-and-bustle (waking to musical birdsong every morning). The tennis court, shuffleboard area, ping-pong table and pool provided a lot of improvised fun between our scheduled activities, and having boogie boards and other gear available saved us from having to rent in town. When we wanted to just sit back and relax, we had spacious rooms to get personal quiet time. This house beats a hotel any day for experiencing a slice of "real" Hawaii (we also stayed in a Waikoloa resort afterward for a few days, but it just wasn't the same). Our only regret was having to leave! Just be sure to get some insect repellent and sunscreen -- this is the tropics after all.

I just got back from a 10 day stay at the Ohana Retreat. My family and very close friends ALL had an AMAZING vacation. The Ohana Retreat exceeded all of our expectations. I really don't know were to start. We had a group of 15 adults and 5 children and everyone loved this place. Everything about this property gets a 5 star rating in my book. The home was awesome there was so much room, the beds were comfortable, the pool and play areas were used everyday. The FRESH fruit and chocolate from the plantation was delicious. Randall the property manager was so accommodating. I could go on and on.....We all did not want to come home. We can't wait to go back again.

We stayed at O'hana for a week and could easily have done another week. Great location; you can walk to lots of local attractions; fresh fruit for the picking, bikes to ride, the house was immaculately clean. We had a couple of small green geckos that sat on our balcony railing that shyly posed for pictures before skittering off -everybody in our group (of 17) has raved about this place. A great family holiday location! Sharing the pool was not a problem, nor was use of any of the equipment. We had to get the sliding screen door fixed after someone walked into it but it was done right away with a smile - much appreciated. Cant' say enough about this place. Awesome!!!

Our family had its reunion at Ohana Retreat and it was a fabulous place for the kids with endless things to do. Peace-seeking adults could always get away to their private suites. It's well appointed, clean, and the caretaker, Randall, was consistently attentive. Suggestion: Find some landmark to help you find the turn off the main island road onto Ho'omaluhia Place. Even though we knew it was at milepost 3.5, when driving south, we missed it every time. The plantation is a wonderful plus.

Start with the house that is so wonderfully situated and beautifully laid out for privacy. Add at least one porch and one lanai per bedroom! Add the fruit outside the door. Add Randele, who is so helpful. Add the setting that is beyond compare, with every flower that flourishes on the island beautifully cultivated on our property. Add the swimming pool which was perfect for relaxation after day at a beach or two! We were mourning our leaving even as we left for another gorgeous island! Our family of 11 was happier than happy at the Ohana Retreat. I am trying to remember what could have been better, and am at a loss. By the way, the beach towels are much nicer than those usually found in hotels/houses. We loved eating on our lanai, in the pool lanai, and in the beautiful covered area that is set up for large or small parties. We loved the sculptures and the wooden things brought to life by Alvin, as he brings the plants to perfection. Oh, yes, and the abundance of birds!

Ohana Retreat in Kona

Ohana Retreat was the perfect spot for a vacation. We rented both houses to accomidate 16 families for the Kona Baseball tournament. The rooms were very spacious and private. The kitchens were well equipt with everything one needs to feed such a big group. It was a very safe environment for all ages. Randall the manager was the best! He was very accomidating and helped us with all our needs! The lush fruits throughout the property were wonderful, many of the kids got to pick their own fruit from the tree which made it very rewarding for them! I would recommend this property and would stay here again!

An ideal site for a gathering of family and friends.Relaxing, lots to do, great facilities(pool,shuffleboard,bikes,badminton,etc. well kept, Randall was very helpfull,courteous and accomodating, close to great restaurants, loved the fresh fruit daily,quiet,felt safe etc. Recommendation-need a safe to lock up passports etc.Not that it wasn,t safe but being in a strange country one wants to be secure with documentations. Would certainly recommend to others and plan to return.

More than great!

The web site photos were beautiful, however, Ohana Retreat was even more wonderful in reality. Our family of 17 could not have been more pleased with all the accomodations. The children(and adults)were fascinated with the fruit trees. Picking fresh bananas at our pleasure was a huge treat- plus all the citrus fruits we could eat. Randal and Alvin were completely pleasant and helpful at all times -hard workers but still finding time to help the children find a ripe mango or passion fruit. We have super chefs in our crowd and the large kitchens were well supplied with equipment. Plus the garage had working bikes, swimming equipment, tennis rackets, kayaks, etc etc. In closing- once again- Ohana Reteat is even better than we had anticipated from the web site. We all thank you for a magical week.

This place is truly amazing.....you will not be disappointed! The accommodation is spotless, the grounds are impeccable and gorgeous, the pool was warm and lovely, fresh fruit to be picked every morning, excellent coffee, a one of a kind vacation plantation!

The house and grounds are amazing! It is a wonderful place for families with children of all ages. The location is great, too. Our only wish was that the pool was heated. It was a little too cold to hang out in when it was cloudy.
