Description of the Kalapana-Puna vacation home rental
Enjoy the unspoiled east side of the Big Island in a comfortable, contemporary vacation rental with a glorious ocean view.
Soak up the Aloha . . . .
Avoid crowded condo complexes and small hotel rooms. Hale Mele Lea allows you to enjoy your Hawaiian holiday in a lovely, spacious, light-filled unit all your own.
Located on the ground floor, the two front sliding doors open onto a patio with a sweeping ocean view. Settle down with a cup of Kona coffee and listen to the sound of the nearby surf. Sunrises are worth the early hour, as they are exceptionally beautiful. In the evening you may be able to view Pele's fiery glow (and sometimes embers) on Kilauea, as well as a blanket of stars. To ensure your privacy and vacation enjoyment, the unit is NEVER rented when the upstairs is occupied.
**Please email the owner for a link to our web site containing additional information, photos, rates, and availability.**
This corner of the Big island offers delightful weather--much drier than Hilo, more showers than Kona--with cooling trade breezes throughout the day. This scenic area offers a balmy climate year-round.
There are plenty of attractions in the area to keep you busy sightseeing, swimming, and exploring. However, it may be challenging to avoid spending all day on the patio gazing at the ocean view and relaxing in the tranquility of the Big Island.
The Big Island is larger than all the other Hawaiian Islands combined. Vacation activities abound, including hiking through pristine rain forests, relaxing on black sand beaches (Kehena Beach is 10 minutes walk away), exploring lava tubes, hiking in the National Park, swimming with the turtles and dolphins, learning about the cultural heritage of the Hawaiian peoples, and, of course, viewing the world's most active volcano, Kilauea, where new land is being created every day. Most of all, you'll enjoy "talking story" with the locals who know and love this beautiful island.
Note that the area is not home to mega-resorts, fancy restaurants, para-gliding, and long white sand beaches. It is a corner of "Old Hawaii", as yet untouched by tourist hordes.
