Description of the Kamuela vacation home rental
From the Kona Airport drive north along the Kohala Coast past miles of lava, looking a bit like the face of the moon at times on the right side of the road and the deep blue ocean on the left.
Our caretaker Audrey will meet you at the Kohala Ranch guard gated security gate to escort you home. Drive up Kohala Ranch Road to Olomana Road turn left to 59-048 and pass through jasmine hedges and between seated lions to enter the home.
From the entry look past the coral garden, hills and winding fences look down to the ocean and around your country home in paradise.
To the left is the great room. Comfortable seating, a card table TV and DVD to entertain or be entertained. Continue past the half bath to the office. A large U shaped desk and two office chairs to handle business. A work out bench for your use and a library full of beach reads, books include thrillers, sci fi, mystery and more.
Next is the master bedroom with a queen size bed, lounger for watching TV and a recliner for reading. The bath includes a huge shower with his and hers shower heads, whirlpool tub and two sinks. Enter the walk in closet with two dressers and a safe.
Walk back to the entry passing a near continuous view of the hills and ocean to the dining room, elegant with a stunning view of the Kohala Coast.
The kitchen is next. Wake up to the smell of Hawaiian coffee, snack on island fruits and feast on fresh caught fish. With a gas cooktop on a cooking island and lots of corian counter top around it. Above and under the corian are cabinets full of small appliances, cookware, tableware and glasses. A large pantry, oven, microwave and refrigerator ready for snacks and meals.
The adjoining family room brings the group together on overstuffed couches.
Around the corner is a laundry room with large whirlpool washer and dryer, iron and board.
Down the hall are three bedrooms each has a full bathroom, closet with mirrored doors, TV & DVD and a sliding glass door with the ocean view. The first room has four twin beds dresser and end tables. The second room has a king size bed, end tables, an armoire, desk and recliner with glider. The last room has a king size bed, end tables dresser, armoire and a recliner with heat and message.
Just outside is a small shed with tubs of fins, sand toys, bogie boards, coolers, beach chairs and umbrellas. Perfect for Hapuna Beach, the Mauna Kea Resort beach or any of the nearby beaches!
A large covered lanai just outside the kitchen shades a Viking gas grill on a granite topped Bar-B-Q island, and a table with seating for four. Cold drink anyone?
Another expansive covered lanai outside the great room holds a dining table with chairs for eating or reading. This is a place to enjoy sunrises, fiery sunsets and the cool breezes anytime.
The last covered area shades the spa, two chaise lounges and two zero gravity chairs for soaking up the sun or resting after a swim in the private 60’ long two lane ocean view pool.
This home is on three acres of Big Island splendor with 360 degrees of beauty. Gaze down the hill with rooftops floating above the trees at the Kohala Coast and you may see whales or a pod of dolphins swimming past. The front of the house looks up to Mauna Kea and the assembled observatories. Look west and you may see Maui, sometimes shrouded in clouds.
The Big Island of Hawaii, is a land of extremes, with or a live volcano each of the worlds climates except the arctic climate, the tallest mountains in the world as they begin at the oceans bottom, and the best nights, warm and beautiful with an unrivaled stellar display. Reviews for this vacation home rental in Kamuela, Big Island, Hawaii
Richard Pinkerton
Houston, Texas
The Perfect Getaway!
May 29, 2012
This is a wonderful home to get away from it all while still being close to all that the Big Island has to offer. We were 20 minutes or less from great beaches, shopping, restaurants or Waimea. Some days we just stayed in to enjoy the view and quiet; everything you might need is provided in this house and you immediately feel at home. We spent time seeing all parts of the Island; the Kohala Coast, Waipio Valley, Hilo, the Volcano, Keck Observatory, Kona-Kailua, Waimea and all the scenery everywhere in between. We were connected to the rest of the world and work through our cell phones and the high-speed internet connection at the house. (We did try to avoid those amenities but you know how it is sometimes even on vacation.) I enjoy cooking and grilling - it was so nice just to step outside the kitchen and eat in paradise. No bugs, no allergies but lots of birds serenading you. It was one of our best vacations ever if not the best ever. Richard Pinkerton Houston, Texas One final note - the mattress was a temperpedic or something. We will be buying one for our home very soon.
