Description of the Kapoho vacation cottage rental

We now have two cottages, Hale O Palama and the Bamboo Hale. PLEASE EMAIL FOR AVAILABILITY & PHOTOS. Lava Lane Retreat is located in the heart of the famous "Red Road" historical corridor one mile from Kehena Beach. The 45 minute drive from Hilo Airport will transport you to the enchanted East Coast where the feeling of ancient Hawaii still exists. Our newly built and well appointed 600 square foot cottages offer privacy in an inspirational six acre tropical park landscaped setting.

We are close to Kehena Black Sand Beach for snorkeling, whale watching, or a memorable swim with the spinner dolphins. A short walk to Kalani Oceanside Retreat.

Relax and enjoy the serenity of a hammock gently swaying beneath shade trees, the air infused with the scent of plumeria, puakenekene and other flowering trees.

Swim in the warm thermal ponds of Ahalanui Park, or steam bathe in one of the many volcanic rift cones. Snorkelers will enjoy the variety of tropical fish, green sea turtles and colorful coral gardens in our local marine preserve, Champagne Pond and Kapoho tidal ponds.

A real once in a lifetime adventure takes you to the lava fields of Puu O'O and watch as the molten lava flows down the Hilina Pali and into the Pacific Ocean creating new land in the Volcanoes National Park.

The historic town of Pahoa provides a eclectic mix of artisan townsfolk and features affordable acclaimed restaurants offering ethnic variety, Thai, Mexican, Chinese, Natural Foods and Tuscany Italian. Local vegetarian cuisine is close by at Kalani Cafe. Buy your fresh produce and gifts at our Sunday Pahoa farmers market.

The windward side of the Big Island offers many days of activities and adventures, from the snow capped majesty of Mauna Kea to the sparkling waters of the Pacific.
