Description of the Kapoho vacation home rental
This tropical home features open-beamed ceilings and panoramic tropical and ocean views. You can see the lights from a passing cruise ship at night from the lanai! There's a full kitchen, generous living and dining area opening onto the lanai, a queen-bed bedroom and bath. For extra guests, the second bedroom has two double beds. And for your evenings, there's a Satellite TV/VCR, a nice stereo with CD and tape players, an assortment of video and audio tapes and CD's, and for those who would rather curl up with a book, there are lots to choose from.
Outside in a gazebo near the house is a full-featured spa for your relaxation and enjoyment!
The kitchen is fully equipped with a microwave, blender, coffee maker, range, fridge and all cooking and dining needs. This home is thoughtfully and tastefully appointed to make it feel like your very own home-in-Paradise.
Located in a quiet, ocean-front, gated community with easy accessibility to Kapoho Bay and the ocean itself, there are several calm lagoons for swimming and snorkeling. Some of the lagoons are even heated by geothermal fresh-water springs! A guide-map at the house will direct you to all the best spots. Champagne Pond is about a 15 minute walk from the property.
Kapoho is a beautiful place, a peaceful and quiet place that is perfect for those who want no part of tourist hawaii. We try our best to make it very clear that there are few tourist accommodations near here. We have many beautiful swimming spots on or near the ocean, a couple of sandy beaches near Hilo and a beautiful scenic drive to the other side of the island will let you discover even more of the lovely beaches on our island.
We chose Pualani in Kapoho as our vacation home for the very reason that there is very little tourist traffic here and that this is one of the last places on the islands that is still considered ??real Hawaii. ??
If you have already experienced ??tourist Hawaii ?? and are ready for something different, you might like this. If you would like to feel what it would be like to be here among the folks who live here, work here, play here and raise their families here, you will find this area a true adventure. If you like hiking, snorkeling, exploring, and are looking for a real tropical get-a-way, you ??ll love it.
This is rustic, rural Hawaii at its best. You can experience the most beautiful, unspoiled tropical surroundings imaginable. Languish in the naturally heated warm pond five minutes away, snorkel in our crystal clear tide pools or take a breathtaking ride down the Rd Road to beautiful Kehena Beach (clothing optional) 20 minutes away. No matter what your choices are, you will be richly rewarded with taste after taste of our roads less traveled.
Pahoa, our nearest town about 8 miles away, is a funky little village of colorful people doing their thing. There are fun little shops to visit and we have some of the best offerings of restaurants on this side of the island. You will find superbly prepared Thai, Italian Tuscany style, Bueno Mexican food to name a few with funky décor, casual ambiance and a delightful surprise of wonderful cuisine. The new Malama Market at the north end of town in the new shopping center has everything you might need! The Pahoa Olympic size swimming pool is free to the public!
There is a Sunday Pahoa Farmers Market where you can find just about every kind of local veggie and fruit, and many prepared offerings and if you are in the mood, indulge in an open air massage. Every Saturday and Sunday, just north of Pahoa you will find the Makuu Farmers Market which is bigger than the Pahoa Market where you will find arts, crafts, jewelry, plants, surfboards, locally hand-made items, and of course lots of locally grown fruits, vegetables, and food and drink prepared right there for you!
If you would like to venture out and explore even more of the Big Island, indulge in some trips to Volcanoes National Park, Lava Tree State Park, Waipio Valley, Hilo Town, or even a beautiful 2 ' hour drive to Kona on the other side of the island.

Reviews for this vacation home rental in Kapoho, Big Island, Hawaii
Hi Pat,
Thank you very much for letting us stay at your beautiful home in Kapoho. We enjoyed our stay very much and had lots of fun at the hot springs and the steam caves. It was so convenient to the things we wanted to see yet lots of privacy and away from the hustle and bustle of Hilo. I received the deposit refund yesterday. Thanks again for everything.

Aloha Pat,
We really enjoyed our stay at Pualani. It was cozy and comfortable. All the gadgets and facilities were in good condition and the ocean view was excellent. We explored the entire east coast of the island. Especially liked the hot pool on 137, black beach with hike down the lava rocks, the tropical vegetation, tidal pools and swimming area near the house, etc. We saw lot of colored fish and other marine life. We also enjoyed cooking with the unusual tropical vegetables (have heard of frsh drum sticks for soup?) with spices. The pine apples, papaya and the small banana were also fantastic. I read two of your books, in addition to the books we brought with us.
I also want to thank you for letting us hang at your Aloha house on Sunday. Diane really liked the 180 deg ocean view and the fantastic breeze outside. We saw sea turtles from the lava rock backyard.
Thank you for sending us the deposit back.
We were expecting a lot of rain to dampen our vacation. We were pleasantly surprised to see that it rained at night and occasional down pours during the day lasting only for short periods.
It was a long trip back to Boston, but this vacation was worth all the travel.
We hope to come back to Hawaii soon.

Hi Pat,
We had a great time at the Pualani Home. Thank you for having us,

Aloha Pat and Andy - Thank you for returning the $100.00 deposit. We really enjoyed your lovely dream house and surrounding area. Our time in Kapoho was a very special part of trip to the islands. We might return some time without the kids. If we do we will certainly get in touch. You really do have a beautiful home in Kapoho and we will share pictures with friends who might be looking for a nice out of the way place in paradise.

Hi, Pat – I received the refund on our security deposit in the cute fish motif stationary. Mahalo. I have been meaning to email you to tell you we really enjoyed the place, just everything about it was super. We snorkeled in the pools and saw lots of turtles, which was so great. What a unique and cool area of the island. We also loved Pahoa and had a GREAT Thai meal in the funky restaurant furthest east of the two. We would recommend your place to anyone. It was nicely decorated and well equipped, too.
Thanks for all!!!

Aloha Pat!
Unfortunately we are home! We had the time of our lives!! Words can’t express how beautiful Kapoho (and the whole island really) was. We seriously did not want to leave. If we didn’t have 3 dogs and 3 cats at home waiting for us – we might have actually stayed. We went to the Kona area after we left your wonderful home…it was nice but we definitely prefer the Hilo side of the island. We brought several real estate publications home with us and are brimming with ideas of how exactly we can change our lives and move there. I bet that happens a lot. We definitely hope to be able to go back and stay at Pualani again!! And also would recommend it to anyone who asked. We will put a glowing “review” on one or more of our websites.
