Visiting Kauai

Kauai is an island paradise located in the state of Hawaii. When planning a trip to the island with your family, you'll want it to be as perfect as possible. To enhance your time on the island, you'll want to find the perfect place to sleep at the end of each adventure-filled day. A vacation home rental can save you the trouble of checking into a hotel by offering you the option to choose from a selection of vacation rentals. Kauai, Hawaii has numerous options that you'll find right here on our website. While you're online it is easy to search our site to find Kauai beach house rentals that have been listed by the owner and are ideal for your family's needs.
Visiting Kauai
Kauai, HI, which is also known as "The Garden Isle," is the fourth largest of the Hawaiian Islands. Plan a visit to this scenic island and be ready to stay awhile. The island has much to offer families looking for a vacation getaway that's equal parts fun, adventure, and relaxation. Combine its lush beauty and Kauai home rentals with its beaches and many historical attractions, and it is easy to appreciate this Hawaiian paradise as the perfect family vacation.
Regions of Kauai
There are five primary regions to consider when staying on the island of Kauai. The east coast of Kauai is also commonly known as Coconut Grove. This location is the most populous on the island and a great location for Kauai condo rentals. The central location is where you'll find the island government, and it is located in the Lihue region of Kauai. Home rentals here are ideal for visitors who need access to the island's commercial center, and the cultural sites that are frequently enjoyed by visitors. South shore, north shore, and west side are the island's scenic regions and they boast many stunning locales, beaches and historic sites.
Sightseeing in Kauai & Things to Do
From hiking to frolicking on the beach, there are plenty of things to do when visiting Kauai. Because the island has more hiking trails and beach miles than any other island in Hawaii, they are both popular ways to spend one's days on the island and great fun for families with children. Hiking is a perfect way to experience the beauty and wonder of the island from an up-close vantage point. Waimea Canyon, known as the Grand Canyon of the Pacific, is notable not only for its panoramic views, but also for its many hiking trails. Beaches such as Baby Beach Kapaa are ideal locations for families with smaller children. Other beaches, such as Anahola Beach and Lydgate Beach, have lifeguards and are the best spots for snorkeling and swimming. From December to April, humpback whales visit the islands and can be seen either by boat tour or from the island's shore. Kauai is a place with many stunning scenic attractions including, but not limited to the Napali Coast, the Opaekaa and Wailua Falls, and the Waikanaloa and Waikapalae Wet Caves.
Regional Foods & Dining in Kauai
Kauai's regional food combines native Hawaiian dishes and the foods of Chinese, Japanese, and other immigrants to the islands. Different varieties of tuna are commonly used in Hawaiian cuisine. Other fish include red snapper, Pacific blue marlin, and mahi mahi. Regional dishes include kalua pig, hamburger patties served with egg and gravy called Loco Moco, and chicken long rice. Plate lunches are also common and typically consist of two scoops of rice, a scoop of macaroni salad and an entree such as pork.
Kauai Weather & Climate
People who live on the island and those who are staying at one of the Kauai vacation rentals enjoy subtropical weather conditions throughout the year. The enjoyable weather is courtesy of Pacific trade-winds that blow from the northeast at anywhere between five and fifteen miles per hour. When it comes to temperatures, people with Kauai condo rentals along the island's coast will enjoy temperatures between 70 and 80 degrees Fahrenheit during the day. Winter temperatures typically drop to the 60s, while the summer may see temperatures as high as 90 degrees. Rain in Kauai is heaviest at the peak of Mount Wai'ale'ale, which is one of the wettest locations on earth. At its peak, Mount Wai'ale'ale sees in excess of 460 inches of rain annually. In comparison, coastal areas may have no more than 20 inches of annual rain. Rain is at its heaviest during the winter months, which are November through April.
When to Visit Kauai
Anytime is a good time when it comes to browsing Kauai vacation rentals and planning a trip to the island. Courtesy of Kauai's pleasant year-round weather conditions, there's no best or worst time to visit. Regardless of the season, you and your family will have access to Kauai's warm waters, sun and sand, and all of the sights that one expects when visiting a Hawaiian island. So if a trip to Kauai is in your family's future, why not make the decision to rent and look over our Kauai vacation home rentals today.
