Area Description

Kenmare is at the mouth of Kenmare Bay in the 'little nest', or Neidin, as it is known in Irish. It is surrounded by mountains, the highest in Ireland are located immediately to the north, the famous Ring of Kerry. The mountains immediately to the south form, the less famous, but equally scenic, Ring of Beara where many local artists live. Drives around are not to be missed!Kenmare is home to numerous award winning restaurants, pubs and the finest of shops. Local artists and craftsmen in abundance. Two 5-star hotels are in town, with spa services available. Minutes walk to a 5,000-year-old Druid Stone Circle, pre-Stonehenge, a Holy Well, miracle of sight, both in the town. A lace-making centre.
