Very nice

People at this trailer park are very nice and the security is excellent. Oscar's trailer was very clean and every night was quiet. Everything except the bathroom fan worked. There's a new pool, still a little under construction but otherwise very enjoyable. Our 2 best vacation days were visiting the very nearby state park and Dolphins Plus, both in Key Largo.

Once again we vacationed in the keys and had a wonderful time. Property was a little small, but served us very well none the less. Trailer was off the beaten path and very quiet and peaceful. Loved another year in the keys.

Off the beaten path, an extraordinary experience

This is a trailer park. If you want elegance and beaches, this is not for you, but it's unparallelled as a base camp for fishing, boating, or just exploring the upper keys. BTW, $100 per is cheap for anything with the word "key" in it. First, you are ON the bayside of Key Largo. you can launch a boat feet from your lodging. There is a grandiose pool with 200 deck chairs overlooking the bay access you see in the ad. If you walk along that canal, you can see 200 fish over 2 feet long at a favorable tide. At the end of the walkway along the canal is the favorite hangout of 2 large manatees. You can enjoy superb cooking and hospitality at (very) nearby HOBO'S restaurant. In that same area is a large Publix if you want to fix your own. Just past that is the library where visitors have free use of a large selection of internet computers. Tavernier and Islamadora are short drives. You can take the alternate route north over Card Sound Bridge ($1 toll) to the famous Alabama Jacks canalside bar & grille. The park office is fully staffed, including maintenance, and they or Oscar are always reachable. The people at Calusa are most friendly and are quick to offer a cordial greeting. There are quiet hours and the residents are well-behaved.

A wonderful experience!

Our 2 month stay was wonderful. The Key Largo area has so much to offer and we loved the layed back island feel. Oscar and Sonia are wonderful to rent from and the staff at Calusa is the very best. We were met in the office with friendlyness and effeciency. A call to Oscar or Sonia with any concern or need was promply met. And by promptly I mean that we had 2 minor incidences of things needing fixed. One call to Oscar and the Calusa maintanance was there with in 10 to 15 minutes and the problem corrected in less than an hour. Oscar, Sonia, and the staff at Calusa's friendly professionalism set the standard everyone should try to emulate. They really made our winter stay worry free. Our unit came well equipped with much more than we expected. We wanted for nothing! The new pool with the view of the bay is absolutely fabulous and couldn't have been better done. Laundry is right there & it was great to be able to do it & play with my grandkids at the pool at the same time. :) Calusa is a safe secure park, quiet during the week and lively during the week-end, with very friendly people and happy kids. We are still smiling from our stay there and are happily anticipating our 3 months there in 2013. :):)

I was very pleased with our stay at Calusa Campground. I would recommend it over and over. I was sad to leave but certainly hope to come back soon. Everyone was friendly, the grounds were clean and well kept. I could not have been more pleased.

What to expect for the money

This vacation rental is what you would expect for the money if your looking for a comfortable bed with an ok shower for the price it's fine. Oscar was very accomadating.

The unit was clean and provided all needed for the week (other than food), additionally the campground was very well maintained and the staff was very friendly and accomodating. The only reason it did not get 5 stars is because the pool in the "campground" was being renovated (therefore not available to use).
