Key West private home right on the water - family owned for three generations (former home to WWII war hero Admiral Edward McCarthy, the former mayor of Key West (Mayor Alan Cleare), and the former District Attorney (Alan B. Cleare)). Just a few doors down from Jimmy Buffet's former home (on the same street). Bring your boat! This home is right on the water directly next to the serene, gorgeous, and undisturbed salt ponds (direct access to the Atlantic Ocean channel). It is the only unobstructed view of the salt ponds in Key West. Many people start their morning on sea kayaks, watching the sun rise from Sunrise drive (appropriately named), drifting through the mangrove tunnels into the salt ponds that house dozens of species of protected birds. Or start your morning off swimming in the ocean or the pool. Dock your boat (rentals just down the canal) directly behind the home and take in a sunset in the middle of the ocean. Watch the sun rise and set as you sit out back by the new pool looking at the glisten of the sun on the water. Fish directly off the bricked deck out back where you will catch anything from snapper to grouper. Throw them right on the grill and have dinner by the water. While you eat, look out for Manatee that commonly swim by with their babies and like to stop by for lettuce and fresh water. You will never feel more relaxed after a few days at the home commonly called the Dragon Fly and you will be counting the days for when you can return.
