Located on the corner of Alaniu and Welakahao, this 1/2 acre property sits just 300 ft from the ocean shore. This is an oasis of Old Hawaii yet shops and restaurants are just 2 blocks to the north & south. The main house is a lovingly restored 1927 plantation home in the 'arts & crafts' style. The cottage is nestled under mature palms that offer wonderful privacy keeping it Hawaiian. The studio features 30' of windows with high open beam ceilings. Our guests love this property and so will you! Start walking 4 miles of beaches just away or head down to a private sandy beach less than a dozen houses down the street. This neighborhood was established long before the first hotels made Kihei, Wailea and the beaches of South Maui an international destination. This unique property is a delightful alternative to condo accommodations.
The property introduces you to a quiet local style of life, but still close to all the "in town" amenities of sunny, beachside Kihei. he hot tub and gas BBQs are just a few steps off lanais in the courtyard surrounded by lush palms, plants and orchids with a Royal Poinciana tree towering over for shade.
No smoking in the units, but if you must, keep it on the lanais. We have heaps of beach chairs, boogie boards, snorkel gear, tennis rackets, bikes and a kayak.
Welcome to Maui and E Komo Mai!

Reviews for this vacation home rental in Kihei, Maui, Hawaii

We spent a much needed vacation during Thanksgiving 2014 with my son, daughter-in-law, granddaughter, daughter and her boyfriend for 10 wonderful days. The house was as perfect as described, wonderful for a large family. We loved spending time on the front porch. The beach is a block away, just perfect for watching the sunrise or sunsets. We loved the using all of the "toys" and so happy that we were able to meet the owner. Thank you once again from the entire Kostick Family!

We chose to spend 10 days at this wonderful family-friendly property. All adults; 7 in total. A reunuion of sorts. The Plantation style made us all feel at home. Mama and Papa chose the studio but came together in the house kitchen, lounges and verandah.Good solid feel with amenities but not over-the-top. Park, beaches and shops within walking distance. A rental car is a good idea so that the full beauty of the island of Maui can be explored. We would all love to stay here again.
Best Trip EVER

If you're looking for a place to stay, then stop, because you've found it. There are three different choices (depending on how much you want to spend) and each are amazing from the looks. We stayed in the Studio, which was the smallest and were very sad to have to leave. The owners are excellent and offer you a lot for you money. You are close to the beaches, but not in the middle of all of the other vacationers. It's cozy and sweet there. We look forward to our return some point in the future, because there is no where better to stay on the island. I'd give it 6 out of 5 stars if I could.

Spent all of March at this property and enjoyed everyday. Priced right and met every need we had. Owners very accomodating and cared about our comfort and needs. Any item that needed attention, very few, were cared for immediately. Kristin and Kim manage and care for the property well. If you need anything it is available on the property to make your vacation enjoyable. We are back again next year.

Thanks for making this place available to us! It was affordable but elegant. We had access to a washing machine and dryer. We loved having a stove and access to the barbeque. There was a lot of little touches they added inside and out. There was a lot of privacy when on the patio and cottage. A million Thank You's. We can't wait to come back we want to bring our kids!

Escape to paradise Maui Khei
June 13, 2008
After travelling to Florida & San Francisco visiting family with my boyfriend Christian. There's no place else but to relax at Steve & Toni's cottage we stayed there for 10 days. Its been the best experiencing holiday of a lifetime for both of us. The cottage was well equiped couldnt have asked for anything else. We loved having breakfast on the patio and listening to birds & gecko's. After been out all day we loved to chill in the courtyard with the lights dim when it was dark in the night time and have a BBq. We both will be coming back and sharing our experience with family and friends.

We had the best experience at Steve and Tonia's house. The pictures do not do this wonderful home justice. We loved enjoying the patio every morning and the grill and hot tub in the evening.

Not to be improved home-away-from-home
October 20, 2007
We have no way to ask for any improvement, as we don't believe there could be any. Our concern had been "too much contact with the hosts" and much to our relief, we were warmly welcomed,... and then left alone, with the promise of help if any were needed. Thank you for the use of all of the supplies, ie: mats, beach umbrella, coolers, snorkle gear, beach towels, beach chairs, etc, etc, etc. The decor of the cottage was absolutely beautiful and warm. We will be back! Thank you Steve and Tonia Rich and Heidi Troup
Lovely Stay in Maui, Hawaii
January 29, 2006
We loved the cottage! The Baneys were the best hosts we could of ever imagined. We were enjoying our honeymoon and ran into some problems (getting our rental car broken into on Hana Highway and having left everything in our car like the brainless love birds we were) ended up on the Baneys porch in tears. Steve went to the bank and forwarded up some money to hold us over until we got everything straightened out with our banks. The Baneys went to extra mile for us at every turn - which we were and are so appreciative for! Dispite our catastrophy, we had a beautiful honeymoon. The cottage and courtyard are so much more beautiful in person and the tropical fragrance when you walk out the cottage is breathtaking. Everything you could possible need is provided at no additional fee, it is the perfect home away from home! And was more private then we had anticipated too! Thank you for the wonderful stay!

âÄúTonia and Steve, Thank you so much to let us stay in your studio cottage even though we inquired about it the last minute. It was a pleasant surprise that we were able to find such a wonderful place to stay in Kihei. We love how you decorated and maintained the cottage and supplied everything we needed. It is always hard to leave Maui, but this time it is much harder!âÄĚ

âÄúAfter spending a week in the condo/resort setting, it was pure delight to come to the peaceful private setting offered by the Baney studio! Absolutely nothing was lacking.
We especially enjoyed the P'olenalena BeachâÄĒwe saw a school of dolphins close enough to shore for those in the water to swim with them. Also witnessed a wedding on this beach. See you next year!âÄĚ

âÄúThanks so much for the great place to stay! We absolutely loved it here, it had everything we needed to make our stay enjoyable. The Beach studio cottage was perfect for us and will definitely recommend it to friends and family planning trips to Maui . We were here for our honeymoon and would absolutely love to come back sometime for an anniversary!âÄĚ

âÄúThanks for sharing your beautiful little corner of paradise. This is so much better than the sterile condo alternative. It's not a question of if we'll be back, it's matter of when! We really appreciate your attention to detail in providing everything we could possibly need. Hopefully we'll be back sooner rather than later---âÄú

"After a hectic few weeks in Vancouver, it was great to come here to relax and decompress. We didn't do too much this visit but we are already planning our next trip! Talk about all the conveniences of home-my kitchen isn't this well stocked with tools and appliances! This is a wonderful clean and charming place to stay. For our own selfish reasons of course, we hope more people don't find out about you and these beautiful oasis in the midst of condo crazy Kihei.
We hope to see you again soon, Toni and Steve and thanks again for everything.

Better than we expected! Had everything we needed and then some. Very friendly and laid back and sincere were Steve and Tonia. Extremely reasonable rates. Snorkeling was the best and jumping off rocks at Changs pond on Hana Hwy. was very exciting. The banana bread in Haiku was amazing. Can't wait to come back to Hawaii.

The little studio cottage was the perfect start to our spiritual re-calibration! From the warm welcome (complete with two cold beers)! To all of the details and thoughtful amenities, it was everything we hoped for and more! Thank you so very much for sharing your home with us for these wonderful few days in paradise. We also appreciate all of your personal suggestions and helpful hits for making our visit that much better. Can't wait to visit again.
Best wishes and Mahalo!

From the warm welcome and splendid hospitality through to the beautiful and cozy studio it was a perfect spot to spend the end of our Hawaiian honeymoon. Thank you so much for sharing your corner of paradise and we will be looking to return sometime with our four children.
Ed and Nelly,
Our stay in the studio cottage was delightful. The cottage is bright and airy with magnificent view of Haleakala in the morning. It offers all of the expected amenities and so much more that were unexpected. The Baneys are wonderful hosts and just nice people to get to know. The courtyard is peaceful and pretty. The extras that we used were the great gas grill, the bogie boards and the cooler.
Just to prove that I am not a member of the family, I will admit that the lack of a freezer in the kitchen was annoying since I could not keep ice cream on hand.
But without a doubt, I can heartily recommend the accommodations to anyone who favors serenity and wonderful on-site hosts.
We have found a fridge with a freezer which will fit iinto the space so that Ed can have his ice cream next time he and his wife return!
Aloha, the Baney's
Peaceful, charming, and quiet. The studio is
beautifully decorated and the amenities
exceeded our expectations. The courtyard
setting is tranquil and private. Tonia and
Steve are wonderful hosts. They really made
us feel at home. "Thank you. We absolutely
loved our stay". I would love to stay here
again upon returning to Maui.

What a great couple, they were a joy to have on site. We look forward to seeing them again soon.!
05/16/2005 We had a wonderful stay here! The room was beautiful and well appointed. Everything looks much better in person! The owners were so helpful and accommodating! It's just too bad we were only able to stay for such a short period of time. We hope to come back and enjoy more of what Maui has to offer!

03/20/2005 We absolutely loved our visit to Maui. We spent our first week at your lovely studio cottage. It was so comfortable and cozy with all the amenities of home. We loved having our morning coffee out on the Lanai as well as our afternoon margarita, after a day of diving or playing on the beach. The location is ideal for the boat ramp and all the wonderful beaches nearby.Kihei has many good restaurants or you can make your own on the grill provided on the courtyard. We definitely recommend a stay at the courtyard cottages next time you visit Maui. Jackie and Bob
