The house overlooks the Nissequogue River and Long Island Sound. There is a water view from almost every room. There is a nice yard, big trees and immediate access to the water for boating.
Two major state parks and local town parks and beaches are less than three miles away. Sunken Meadow State Park includes a golf course and beautiful beach and boardwalk on Long Island Sound. One town beach, with life guards, on the Sound side, is right across the water by canoe or kayak.
Explore the whole area on the map link above. Use the arrows to find the beaches, parks and parkways.
We are ideally located for day trips to all other parts of Long Island and to New York City by train or by car.
Since we purchased this house in 2007 we have upgraded the electrical service and included internet service. We have installed a new oil burner and separate water heater which provide heating and lots of hot water. All rooms were freshly painted and furnished. We have provided a new dishwasher, a new microwave, a new washer and dryer. We have a new flat screen TV. There is a gas grill and table and chairs for use outside.
The new beds and mattresses in the bedrooms include three wonderfully sturdy bunk beds built for us by Bunk Bed Dan in Vermont. These provide a lot of sleeping options as they are full size beds on the bottom and standard twin size on the top. Every bedroom has either a built-in or freestanding closet/clothes rack. We can actually sleep more than eight people if needed but think up to eight is best.
We think we have supplied the house with everything you will need for a very pleasant vacation. We will be open to your suggestions for anything we may have overlooked.
There is off street parking in the driveway. The separate garage is not included in the rental.
The Long Island Railroad and major state parkways serve this area with access within three miles. Your car, or a rental car, will make it possible to get to local grocery stores, shopping centers, shopping malls, churches, restaurants, state parks, town beaches, golf courses, and other activities.
Canoe and kayak rentals are available locally or bring your own kayak, small boat or canoe.
Long Island is located to the east of New York City, with Long Island Sound along its North shore and the Atlantic Ocean along its South shore.
You can take a day trip to Montauk Point Lighthouse at the end of Long Island's South Fork and spend the day at Hither Hills State Park on the ocean.
You can drive onto the Orient Point ferry at the end of Long Island's North Fork for a trip across the Sound to New London, Connecticut for a visit to Mystic Seaport. There is also a ferry crossing Long Island Sound from Port Jefferson to Bridgeport Connecticut.
Many walk-on ferries cross the Great South Bay from towns along the South Shore for day trips to the ocean beaches along Fire Island.
Long Island has large suburban areas close to New York City to the West. To the East it has farms and vineyards. There are colleges and universities, concerts and theater performances, sports and activities of nearly every kind including a nearby ice skating rink which is open to the public.
There is something on Long Island for just about everybody and every interest.

Lucky to Find North Shore Rental
July 18, 2013
There are very few availabilities between Manhattan and the East End of Long Island. So many of us stay in typical chain hotels along the LIExpressway. Well, here is a home, a real home, that is clean, filled with all you need, and enables relaxation and appreciation of Long Island's North Shore to boot. 4 Bedrooms with Vermont made pyramid beds, AC, and a front porch with idyllic views of the Nissequogue River, Long Island Sound in the far distance. It is a bit tight but very cosy. Beautiful kitchen implements and a grill with casual seating outside. Cooking is fun. Chairs on the lawn and a bathrobe per guest in which to drink coffee, enjoy the waterview, and catch up. Situated in an old Italian immigrant summer bungalow neighborhood "San Remo," this house is close enough to the Sagtikos Parkway and Northern State to get in and out, close enough to Kings Park to enjoy true blue family owned deli's, bakery, and restaurants, yet, far away enough to feel you are really on vacation - canoe/kayak, beach it, ride a bike, relax and read a book. Parks and boat rentals are nearby. The house is old, quaint, and useful. Take a day trip to NYC from the Kings Park LIRR, enjoy a family outing, but best of all, visit LI and see your relatives without having to stay in the "same old" hotel. We are glad to have found this place! Thank you Sandra!

This house was very clean and in a great quiet location. Large kitchen table and well equiped kitchen made it easy to prepare meals. We would stay there again.

Great Spot to Relax!
August 18, 2011
We picked a hot week, but enjoyed cool breezes off the river every night, and thoroughly enjoyed watching the birds congregate just a few steps away in the mornings and evenings. The grill provided a week's worth of fun family barbecues, which was great! The house is nicely set up and the kitchen met all our needs. We were sorry when our week ended, and hope to have a chance to get back. THANKS!!!

Great house, clean, large enough for 4 adults and 4 children. It was fun cooking on the BBQ and enjoying the outside space. The owner was very friendly and helpful. It was overall a relaxing trip.
Cozy house with fabulous water views

This house was great for our family from Germany. It had all of the amenities one could think of and many additional helpful features that we didn't think of in advance. It was great to grill in the backyard with water views in sight. The kayak launch ramp within walking distance of the house was delightful. We'll definitely try to get this home for future stays, it's a lovely place.

Very very nice Stay
March 24, 2010
My family and i stayed here over Christmas. The home is very clean, has everything you need and the landlord made every attempt to make the stay just as comfortable as home (we arrived in a snow storm and the driveway had been plowed, lights were on, the home was decorated for Christmas and there was hot chocolate on the counter). I would definately stay again!!!

Long Island - central

The house is lovely - very clean and lots of facilities although another bathroom would have helped at times (7 of us stayed). Kings Park is a great place to be based to enable visits all over Long Island and NYC. We had rain due to freak weather but found lots to do locally despite this so would heartily recommend this house to anyone looking to explore the area. The landlady is lovely and very helpful, we had a fantastic holiday here

Kings Park Rental

We had groups of friends visiting from France and they needed a place to stay. This house was large enough to accommodate 8 adults and 3 children under 5 years old. It was great for everyone to have all of the benefits of living at home while being away. There's a washing machine and dryer, dishwasher, coffee maker, dishes, plates, silverware, and coffee maker - everything you need. There's even television and wireless internet. Our guests were very happy and even commented on how comfortable the beds were. There's also a gas grill available for backyard barbeques. There are only three minor drawbacks: 1) there's only 1 and a half baths, so if you've got a large group, this may impact you, 2) the backyard is very, very small, but there are picnic tables you can use, and 3) there was no cell phone service (I have Verizon), but there is a wall phone you can use for local calls. Bottom line: This is a tremendous value for the money. We highly recommend it!

We really enjoyed this cozy cottage. The house has everything you need..even laundry detergent. Our kids loved exploring the river across the street (although not water for swimming) There was plenty of space and was a great location for exploring Long Island.

About:My husband took this picture during our "trip of a lifetime" as we were crossing the Atlantic on the Queen Mary 2.
Being "on the water" is one of my favorite places to be. That is why I had to buy this house overlooking the Nissequoge River and Long Island Sound when it became available. Looking...
