Lovely Private Home Directly On Lake Champlain
Liam and Laura Murphy
eastern shore of the lake halfway between Burlington and St Albans and overlooking the Lake Champlain Islands.
The most recommended activity is to do nothing. Or almost nothing. Relax. Wind down. Nap. Read. Do a jigsaw puzzle. Watch the sunset. Putter around. There is a TV/DVD combo if you do need some electronic entertainment but there is limited TV reception or only a dial up internet connection.
If you want to be more active. Walk the long, long private road or miles of connected dirt roads. Hike the trail from the property up Eagle Mountian and enjoy sweeping views of the lake, islands and mountians. Swim. Fish. Bike. Go for a boat ride. Build a fire on the beach and roast marshmallows

It's the second year that I rent this beautiful little cottage on the Champlain lake. It's just perfect for a couple or a little family. The view is fantastic and the lake is quiet. We had a nice time bathing and kayaking.

My husband & I left three days early because we were so disappointed. The furniture is extremely worn and uncomfortable. The main bed is a mattress on 2x4’s and is impossible to get a good night’s sleep. The owners informed us they were switching the second full bed to two twins less than 24 hours before our arrival, so our in-laws had to sleep on twin beds. The oven did not work, and the toilet is very unstable to where you feel like you are going to fall off! We informed the owners after we left about the toilet and oven, they said we should have told them and they would send a handyman to fix it. However if you read the review from 2009, the toilet has been unstable since then! We were looking forward to using the boat & kayak however, the boat has a crack so it fills up with water! The cabin was supposed to be pet friendly however our dogs found rat poison traps in each room. This cabin is definitely not worth the price.

Not only was the view from both decks gorgeous, the house cozy and well stocked, the beach awesome, with canoes and kayaks, picnic table, etc. but my kids did not complain once about not having a tv. We visited Burlington (easy 20 min. trip from house), Ben and Jerry's, rented a boat on the lake, and went to Canada and even a drive in movie. The house is extremely private and nestled in the woods. Loved it. Thanks Julie!

The location of this cottage could not be more ideal. Located above the causeway, there is limited boat traffic and the dead-end road on which it is located also provides for very limited traffic noise. Overall, it is a very serene location with fantastic sunset views. The cottage itself is rustic as described, but we found it quite lovely. The furniture--as we suspected from the photos--could be slightly more comfortable, but it was fine for a week's worth of time. There is, however, a slight problem with a rocking toilet that will hopefully be repaired soon. The kitchen is relatively well-equipped and the layout of the cottage is quite comfortable for traffic flow. The on-site canoe and kayak were in good working order and it was easy to paddle directly from the shore of the cottage's beach. We would certainly consider a week's rental here again and thank the owners for their opening such a gem to renters.
