Description of the Lake George vacation home rental

Ten minutes from the southern tip of beautiful Lake Champlain, half an hour from the summertime hot spot of Lake George, New York (Six Flags!), and 45 miles from Okemo Mountain Ski Resort in Vermont, this lakeside Adirondack vacation rental is perfect for hunters, ski bums, fishermen, families, or for a romantic getaway.

Twenty-six steps bring you down to the quiet, cozy lakefront home with a sizeable yard, nice-sized deck, three bedrooms (one queen, one full, three twins) and two baths. It is situated on a quiet, well-maintained road. Canoe or fish in the private lake with the picturesque mountain as a backdrop. (Please note: motorized boats are not allowed on this lake. Sorry...)

Nearby towns play host to many events, such as Americade, the World's Largest Yard Sale, the Adirondack (hot air) Balloon Festival, weekly fireworks and boat cruises on Lake George, river rafting, hiking, and much more! This house is great for relatives of college graduates (Albany, Potsdam, Plattsburgh, Green Mountain, and maybe even more colleges that we're not aware of!), or for families and friends of the Miss New York or Miss Teen New York Pageant contestants. (Albany is 80 miles away but this is so worth the drive.)

This warm and inviting getaway, complete with linens, household supplies, and washer and dryer, is ready to go…

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS:

CAN WE SWIM IN THE LAKE?
Yes! It's very clean. Make sure to bring your snorkel equipment!

IS THERE A TV?
There is a TV for DVDs but no cable…allowing guests to get back to the basics and unwind…playing darts, poker, board games, having drinks with friends, listening to music, canoeing, fishing, and roasting marshmallows around a crackling fire underneath a starry sky.

WHAT IS YOUR RATE?
$250/night with a two-night minimum. $200 night after that. $1200 for the week (seven nights). Payment via PayPal.

HOW CLOSE IS GOOD HIKING?
The Bomoseen Trails, an 8-mile hiking loop, is 11 miles away in Hydeville, VT. (The Vermont state line is about five miles from the house.) Visit a Web page called wildernet for information on this hiking trail.

Please note: no motorized boats are allowed on lake. Sorry!

HOW CLOSE ARE GROCERY STORES AND RESTAURANTS?
The closest town is about five miles away; there are several little towns in both New York and in around-the-corner Vermont. There is a list in the house of different types of restaurants and their price points.

HOW LONG IS THE DRIVE TO NEW YORK CITY?
About four hours, not counting stops for fuel, etc., and THAT, as always, depends on NYC traffic!

WE HOPE TO SEE YOU SOON!

Area Description

Located on a quiet, well-maintained road, and situated directly on lakefront property, this lake has only eight (very nice) homes on it. The view from this home is of the lake and across to mountains, which are totally natural (no development!). A canoe and a "pedal" boat are at your disposal for fun on the lake. A campfire is at the ready at the bottom of the roomy deck for roasting marshmallows under the stars. A nice-sized yard, with a swingset, is there for the kids, and the fishing and swimming in the lake is great.

The nearby towns offer great country activities, such as hiking, indoor rock wall climbing, going to the nearby waterfall, picking apples in local orchards, or getting homemade maple syrup from a nearby farm. Sheep graze, horses provide a beautiful and peaceful landscape, and the local people are very friendly. If country living and a big step back from the hustle and bustle is what you're craving, this is the place for you. Not only will you leave feeling refreshed, but even better, you'll leave with a renewed sense of restored faith in humanity thanks to the friendly local people.
