Lake Leelanau Cape Cod *Family Friendly*

This sweet cottage made the perfect "home base" for my family as we explored the Leelanau Peninsula. The decor is charming, with a shabby chic/vintage flair. You will feel like you are staying at a friend's home, not a rental property. The bathroom is newly renovated and very appealing and roomy. There are plenty of fun board games for all ages, and a nice selection of DVDs. The kitchen is well-equipped, so you won't need to pack anything beyond your favorite foods. Everything is very clean and in good working condition. The yard is full of pretty blooms, and quite large, with a nice fire pit and seating area, and there is small deck outside the master bedroom. The cottage is within easy driving distance of so many great little communities (Sutton's Bay, Leland, Cedar, Northport) and, of course, Traverse City. We took daily walks into the village of Lake Leelanau for groceries, coffee, pastries, lunch and antique browsing. The grocery store is just five minutes away and carries pretty much everything you need (including fresh produce, baked goods and a small meat counter), plus an amazing (and surprising) selection of homemade Indian food. We went to the town's farmer's market (Saturdays) and bought some fruit, homemade soap, and jewelry from some local vendors. There are lots of great beaches nearby, in addition to shopping, dining, wineries, dunes, historic attractions, farm stands, museums and so much much more. We rented a pontoon one day and explored Lake Leelanau. Everyone in the community was very friendly, and we never felt like tourists. The owners were very helpful and responded promptly to all questions. It is clear that this is not just a rental property for them, but a labor of love.
