Description of the Lake Lure vacation home rental

Stay on Lake Lure !! Bring your tubes and rafts and swim from your own private beach area. There is also a play area for the kids.

Home is a 2 bedroom, 2.5 bath. Kitchen is fully equipped with a dishwasher, microwave, coffee maker and a large pantry. New flat panel TV just installed with cable. Views of the lake from every room. Large deck out back with grill and patio furniture. Both bedrooms are upstairs and each has a bathroom. There is a Queen bed in one bedroom and a Queen bed plus a single bed in the other. You also have a futon in the living room which can sleep 2. Wake in the morning to the beautiful view of the lake from your bedroom window. Have your morning coffee out on the deck and listen to the birds singing.

Being in the thermal belt, the weather is mild and this home can be enjoyed all year long. Spring brings the blooming of the dogwoods. daffodils, rhododendron and mountain laurel. Summer brings lush greenery and the autumn colors are extremely beautiful. The winters are mild.

You are just 29 miles east of Asheville and the Biltmore Estate. You can tour the mansion and winery, and at Christmas enjoy the beautifully decorated trees and lights. Biltmore Village is home to many unique shops and, according the Food Network Channel, one of the most beautiful McDonald 's restaurants in the world. Locally, Chimney Rock Park, where The Last of the Mohicans was filmed, is a perfect place to spend the day hiking and admiring the beautiful views. The Lake Lure area, the site of the Dirty Dancing filming, offers seasonal scenic boat tours, tennis, golf, horseback riding, biking, fishing, and restaurants. Just 20 miles away is Rutherfordton, where you can enjoy wonderful meals and great shopping. Thirty minutes away historic downtown Hendersonville is great for antique shopping, restaurants and live theater. If you want to shop at a mall, Asheville has the Biltmore Mall and the Asheville Mall.

Area Description

Lake Lure covers 720 acres in the Hickory Nut Gorge, a
valley in the Blue Ridge Mountains in Western North Carolina.

National Geographic says that Lake Lure is perhaps the most beautiful man made lake in the world, with over 720 acres of sparkling,
crystal clear blue water, three long bays, an island, and a
background of tree clad hills and mountains, along
its 21 miles of scenic shoreline.

Lake Lure has gained fame as the location of the 1980s hit
"Dirty Dancing", "Firestarter", "Last of the Mohicans",
and the 2006 HGTV Dream Home.

Boat tours of the lake are given and include lunch cruises, dinner cruises,
and evening champagne cruises.
The tours can also be rented out for private groups.

The Lake Lure Marina offers boat rentals ranging from kayaks to pontoon boats. For those interested in fishing, Lake Lure has plenty of rainbow trout,
carp, catfish, and bluegill, among others.

There is also a beach with water park style attractions and lifeguards. An admission fee is charged for entrance to the beach. There is a grassy picnic area with picnic tables near the beach which can be used for
small picnics or large gatherings.

Nearby attractions include a number of golf courses, river rafting, riding stables,
bicycle tours, Flat Rock Playhouse, Harrah's Cherokee Casino,
and the Biltmore Estate, the largest
private home in the country.
