Description of the Lakebay vacation cabin rental

Cabin is located on a point of land in Puget Sound and surrounded by 8 acres of natural woods. Views to the East of Mt Rainer and to the West of the Olympic Mountains.Large great room with fireplace and wood burning stove, outside granite BBQ/fireplace, and 3 decks. Three bedrooms in the main house, one with bunkbeds and one with queen. Attached screened in bedroom with 1/2 bath. Trails through the woods leading to a treehouse and full size tipi. Depending on the time of year, pick blackberries or huckleberries. Watch for chipmunks, squirrels, fox, deer, eagles, ospreys, and blue herons.

Well, we were at the cabin last month and here we are packing up to go back today! The Riptide was the most special place our family has ever visited. Our eight year old asked if we could spend our summer holiday at the cabin every year. The Riptide is a place to sit in a tree house, hang out in a teepee, go fishing, dig for clams, watch the seals, spy on a little fox family, roast s'mores every night, sit by the outdoor fire and drink wine and read a good book, chase little beach crabs, enjoy the magnificent view, cook wonderful fresh meals, make sangria, get romantic, play in the forest and stay up late! When the 4 of us first walked into the Riptide, I started to cry...it is truly the perfect little getaway. From the setting to the views to the vibe of the cabin...we will be regulars at the Riptide!

A slice of Pacific Northwest heaven

This place is amazingly relaxing. I have gone down to the beach to wander. I have gone for a walk along the country roads and waved to the friendly people that live there. Sure you could rent a kayak and paddle around the sound. But me? I'd rather sit and stare at the volcano. I have seen seals, eagles, blue herons and a (contested) viewing of a pod of porpoises feeding on the sand bed in the channel. I've skipped rocks in the middle of moonless August night to see the phosphorescent ripples spread out in ghostly circles. I have cooked fresh oysters with butter and garlic on the outdoor grill, I have cooked pounds of fresh clams from the farm down the street. And eaten fresh produce from the farmers market we passed on the way. I climbed cliffs to find lost toys and gathered huckleberries and blackberries for pies and pancakes. I have watched the sunset from a tree house and had a pow-wow in a tee pee. I can think of no place I'd rather be and look forward to another

I had a wonderful relaxing time with friends last Labor day. The setting was great and I really enjoyed the feeling of being away from it all, but in close enough driving proximity to get supplies and such. Fresh air, plenty to wander around and do or just a great time sitting back taking it all in. I look forward to my next adventure out there. Its fun to lift up logs on the beach and watch the little crabs scatter.

I had the chance to stay at riptide on three different occasions from July to September 2007 - what an awesome place! The view from the yard is spectacular, the beach is super-close and I love that there is a tipi and a tree house in close proximity. Very relaxing, lots of stuff to poke on the beach, and lots of wildlife to oooh and aaahhh over.

We are fortunate to live close enough to drive to Riptide for weekend get aways when we just need a break from the world! The calming atmosphere makes for the most wonderful and relaxing experience to be found. My son cooked and ate his first clam, dug up by his own hands - it was quite an experience! During A "strenuous" week at Riptide I read three books and sketched and painted sunsets over the mountain, wild flowers, and the woods. I feasted on salmon and oysters, purchased locally and barbequed on the patio. The bald eagle even flew by one evening to check us out. What a wonderful rest. Thank you.

situated above puget sound, a trail down to the beach...this was such a serene and peaceful world away from the city..terrific hiking, beachcombing..great patio..open living, with the feel of being at an established summer home...architecturally mid- century cooooool Felt like a great family camp. The sunrises over the water and Mt Rainier greeting you every day is sheer heaven....thanks for letting us be a part of it ! We'll be back!
