Description of the Lakebay vacation cabin rental

THE MOOSEHEAD CABIN is the perfect place to get away with friends or family, and is only 90 minutes from Seattle.

Located on the North Shore of beautiful and peaceful "Bay Lake". This lodge-like home can comfortably accommodate up to 12 guests. Spectacular views of the lake and meadows can be enjoyed from the large windows in the great room or the wrap around deck outside.

The giant stone fireplace (with "moose"), is the place to gather together to watch a movie, read a book, or play a game (plenty of all 3 are provided). The private hot tub (and pool in the summer) are just steps from the front door.

There is plenty to do on the seven private acres --including fishing, boating, volleyball, and roasting marshmallows under the stars. A short walk up the road is Penrose State Park, with salt water beaches and easy hiking trails.

Area Information

Bay Lake is just 90 minutes from Seattle, and 20 minutes from Gig Harbor, on rural Key Peninsula. Located on the North shore of a quiet, freshwater lake on-site, and just 1/4 mile Penrose State Park with salt water beaches and hiking trails. Weekend wine tasting is up the road, and wonderful shopping and dining are just 20 minutes away in Gig Harbor.

MooseHead Cabin

We had a house rented near Ft Lewis which fell through, we needed to be close to the base as we were there to visit our grandson who is in the Army. Needless to say we had driven from Missouri and were really tired of staying in hotels. I cannot begin to say how much we enjoyed staying at MooseHead cabin. We were able to relax and also visit with my grandson as a family. The cabin had everything we needed and was beautifully decorated. The view of the lake was great and I actually got to see Eagles. The cabin was close to Gig Harbor which I had always wanted to see, my husband however didn't want to leave the cabin so he stayed while we went exploring. It was about 30 minutes from base but my grandson knew back roads and never complained. I have 2 younger grandsons and know they would love the upstairs bedroom with the bunk beds and also building campfires. I cannot express how clean and fresh this cabin was. I only wish the best for the owners as you can tell they have put their hearts into this and made it into everything you could want for a visit with your soldier.

Beautiful lakefront cabin!

This vacation home is beautiful! A wonderful get away with lakefront views/access. Reservation process was simple, no issues and the cabin is immaculate, spacious and fully furnished with everything you could need.

privacy,quiet, beautiful,pool,hot tub,lake,hammock. kids's play gym, paddle boat, canoe,outside firepit,inside fireplace,and great amenities.So much to do. Great place! We saw a bald eagle while kayaking on the lake. there is a kayak rental place very close by. We roasted marshmellows one night and kept warm with the nice fleece campfire blankets provided. There is a volleyball net set up, also have a ping pong table set up. We stayed for 4 days and wished we would have stayed longer. We played games in the eveningand although there are tvs inall the bedrooms and living room, we didn't even turn them on. The house is really laid outnice with lots of space . Two leather sofas make it nice and comfy for everyone. Oh yes, the dining area has a really big table, so lots of sitting room. kitchen is big enough so that several people can work in rhe kitchen at the same time. the bathrooms have soap and shampoo dispensers. Overhead fans in the bedrooms and living rooms keep the house cool. We had such a blast in the pool, I worried that it would't be warm enough for the 2 babies in our family, but it was just right. ESpen and Jasymn had their very first swim and loved it. Lots of interesting books to read and even some kids toys. This place is a treasure,we want to come back again. Wow -- what a fantastic place you have there. We enjoyed every minute of our stay. In fact, in our three days, most of us never left the property (unless you count the middle of the lake). The pool, the fire ring, and play structure were huge hits with the kids. We really felt as though we were being hosted in someone's home instead of just renting a vacation house.

My family and I spent spring break at the cabin. It was great. The kids could run around the property without us checking on them every 5 min. and the view of the lake was so calming. We loved waking up to it every morning. The hot tub was great on the cold nights and movies with the kids by the fire was fun. Well worth the money and the drive.

This has been so wonderfully relaxing for our entire family. All of the comforts of home that I spent hours packing, to the point that our SUV could hold no more, we found provided so kindly for our use during our stay. From the wide variety of CDs, magazines, games, toys, history books, and children's videos to the fully equipped kitchen, we lacked nothing. Even the rain and cloudy skies are beautiful out here, and we enjoyed time reading, playing games, visiting and drawing pictures. I can't remember a time when my kids have played so well and watched so little television. In fact, the only time my husband and I turned on the TV for ourselves was to watch the Mariner game. Thank you for sharing your corner of paradise with us. We enjoyed every minute and can't wait to come back.

We really enjoyed our stay here at Moosehead Cabin. We really like boating in the Lake. We found everything in the cabin very comfortable and clean. We had a great time making s'mores in the fireplace. The sun was out most of the time. We would sit outside for hours reading.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q:Are there other houses near the Moosehead Cabin?

A:We are located on 10 acres on the North shore of Bay Lake. There are very few other homes around the lake, and none of them are "next door". Instead of looking at your neighbors bar-b-que off the deck, you'll be looking out at a beautiful lake with eagles soaring overhead.

Q:Is the pool and hot tub only for our use?

A:Yes, both are just steps from the house, and on our property. Not only can no one else use them, but they are so private that you can lay out in the sun without anyone seeing you!

Q:What is there to do in the area.?

A:Though Bay Lake is not a "destination resort" there are some worthy sights nearby. Penrose State Park is just up the road and has lovely salt water beaches, hiking trails, clamming/crabbing on the beaches, and overnight camping and moorage for boats. The historic and charming sea port town of Gig Harbor is just 25 minutes away, with shops, restaurants, and fabulous scenery.

Q:Can I bring my lovable and house-trained dog?

A:Though we love pets and have our own, the Moosehead Cabin is a pet-free home for the main reason that there are many guests who have allergies and we need to be able to provide them with the assurance that they won't be sneezing when they arrive from the dog that was just there! However, if you have an outdoor dog that likes to sleep outside or in the car, then we can talk about it. Bay Lake is great for water dogs!

Q:Is there fishing on the lake?

A:Yes. Bay Lake is a great bass fishing lake. However, each spring the lake is stocked with trout on opening day of fishing. Also, there is duck hunting on the lake, so don't be alarmed if you hear some shots in the early morning during the fall.
