Description of the Lakeville vacation home rental

Gorgeous, updated estate c. 1776 - with apple orchards, sweeping views of property, and distant Berkshire Foothills. Main house is fully restored with modern amenities, yet the integrity of the "old house" has been preserved. The "piece de resistance" is the gigantic 18th century fireplace in the living room. The house has several additional fireplaces. Two modern wings were added in 2002/2003, including a new Wood Mode kitchen, a large family room with gorgeous views, an octagonal conservatory/office, with a sweeping slate deck, wrap-around porch, and master bedroom wuite with dressing room, office and limestone master bathroom. House includes lovely china and crystalware, a bar in the living room, and an enchanting dining room. Bathrooms are of stone, most with heated floors. The Decor is total luxe. It is a treasured get-away, which we have decided to share. In the summer months, the gunite pool is open, fenced in with an apple orchard, stone walls and garden.

Area Description

The Northwest Corner of CT is a precious jewel of rolling hills, colonial New England charm and culture. Litchfield County is known as an exclusive get-away for people in the know. It's quiet and relaxing, with great restaurants,golf, horseback riding, swimming, kayaking, hiking trails, art galleries, etc. nearby. There are several ski areas approximately 30 minutes to an hour away. The great towns of Lakeville and Salisbury, CT are next door. Kent and Litchfield, CT and Millbrook, NY are nearby.

In the Fall, there is apple picking on the premises, and nearby berry picking in the summer. Sharon is noted for it's Audobon Center.
