Description of the Lamoine vacation cottage rental
Enjoy Maine's natural beauty and the many attractions it offers while staying in this spotless log cabin that is just right for two or for a family of six. Cove House sits on a bluff about 25 feet above the Cove. It has a spacious, open-floor plan - a great room with cathedral ceiling and two stories of windows for panoramic views. Dining area and fully equipped kitchen provide everything you need for a pleasant eating experience.
A queen bedroom and a twin bedroom, fresh linens, a full bathroom with laundry facilities, lots of fluffy bath towels and beach towels, round off the first floor. French doors lead to the deck and the comfortable porch.
The second floor has master suite with king bed, dresser, desk, satellite TV, large walk-in closet, and plenty of room for a crib and pack-and-play (provided as needed). The bathroom has a large jetted tub and separate shower. A hall closet holds linens, towels, extra bath rugs, puzzles and games. A loft overlooking the living room has comfortable seating and is ideal for board games, puzzles, chess or just reading a good book.
A bench and two Adirondacks overlook the water making it the perfect spot to sit and enjoy the views of the mountains of Acadia to the South, Frenchman Bay and the Schoodic Peninsula to the east, and Hancock Point and Marlboro Beach to the Northeast. There is access to the shore at only one spot on the property to protect the delicate vegetation and prevent erosion.
Children are welcome. We aim for a low allergen environment by keeping the property smoke- and pet-free.
Radiant heat on the first floor for cool Fall days keeps you warm and cozy as you walk around barefoot. The second floor has baseboard heat and warm wood floors.
Area Information
In less than thirty minutes you are in beautiful Acadia National Park with its hiking, horseback riding and biking trails. Bar Harbor is 10 minutes from Acadia's entrance, and the other lovely towns of MDI offer famous gardens, vistas, restaurants, and activities for everyone to enjoy.
On Mount Desert Island, go on a whale watch, kayak, ride a bike, ride a horse, hike, climb, relax, take an evening cruise on a schooner and watch the sun set, enjoy classical music performed by visiting renowned musicians, motor in a lobster boat and learn about those delicious crustaceans.
Other areas nearby include beautiful Schoodic Peninsula (part of Acadia National Park) near Winter Harbor and Prospect Harbor. Blue Hill is a few miles west of Ellsworth. Beyond is the bridge over Eggemogin Reach to Deer Isle and Stonington, a charming fishing village with views of islands, lobster boats and kayaks.
Come to the log cabin on Raccoon Cove to read, rest, eat, hike, kayak, explore, shop, sleep and enjoy!

The owner provided absolutely everything imaginable for our use, from a bookcase full of carefully chosen and catalogued books, to every cooking utensil, pot, pan, spice that we could imagine. We were very sorry to go, the views, the cabin itself and the proximity to Acadia were all first rate. We definately plan to stay there agagin.

Peace and fun
September 4, 2012
We had an amazing time at the Cove House! It is on the most beautiful cove with eagles, osprey, porcupine, and squirrel as constant companions. We have a 1 year old, and all baby amenities were provided!! The house itself has everything you could need, is so comfortable and well-appointed. We enjoyed hanging at the house, hiking in Acadia, exploring the surrounding area, and of course, eating lobster at local restaurants and at home (all supplies for cooking them at home are also provided!) We highly recommend the Cove House!
Owner's reply:
Dear Colleen,
We're delighted that you enjoyed Cove House! I'm so glad you used the baby items. Having grandchildren, I understand why it's so much easier for parents if they don't need to travel with all those extras. You need to carry enough as it is!
You are welcome any time at Cove House. It was a pleasure having you there.

Northern Exposure
July 20, 2011
This spectacular property provided a warm and welcoming "home" base from which to share with our kids (7 and 5) the many wonderful adventures my wife and I have cherished from Maine and Acadia - our 3rd visit to Mt. Desert. This cabin is so well appointed, we thought we were in a spec house from Log Home magazine. Early mornings on the bench, sipping coffee and watching the local clammers and lobstermen ply their trade in the cove, while the birds and wildlife romped about in the dawn light was the perfect start to every day and will be remembered forever. While close to all the popular attractions, Cove House also fosters exploration of the many smaller coastal towns often overlooked. We love exploring off the beaten path. We lacked for nothing (in accommodations and activities) during our stay. Biking, hiking, swimming, sightseeing, and of course...eating. Wish we had another week.
