Description of the Lamoine vacation cottage rental
Enjoy Maine's natural beauty and the many attractions it offers while staying in this spotless log house that is just right for two or for a family of six. Cove House sits on a bluff about 25 feet above the Cove. It has a spacious, open-floor plan - a great room with a cathedral ceiling and two stories of windows for panoramic views of the Cove and beyond. The dining area and fully equipped kitchen provide everything you need for a pleasant eating experience.
A queen bedroom and a twin bedroom, fresh linens, a full bathroom with laundry facilities, lots of fluffy bath towels and beach towels, round off the first floor. French doors lead to the deck and a comfortable porch.
The second floor has master suite with king bed, dresser, desk, cable TV, large walk-in closet, and plenty of room for a crib and pack-and-play (provided as needed). The bathroom has a large jetted tub and separate shower. A hall closet holds linens, towels, extra bath rugs, puzzles and games. A loft overlooking the living room has comfortable seating and is ideal for board games, puzzles, chess or just reading a good book.
A bench and two Adirondacks overlook the water making it the perfect spot to sit and enjoy the views of the mountains of Acadia to the South, Frenchman Bay and the Schoodic Peninsula to the East, and Hancock Point and Marlboro Beach to the Northeast. There is access to the shore at only one spot on the property to protect the delicate vegetation and prevent erosion.
Children are welcome. We aim for a low allergen environment by keeping the property smoke- and pet- free.
Radiant heat on the first floor for cool Spring and Fall days keeps you warm and cozy as you walk around barefoot. The second floor has baseboard heat and warm wood floors.
In less than thirty minutes you are in beautiful Acadia National Park with its hiking, horseback riding and biking trails. Bar Harbor is 10 minutes from Acadia's entrance, and the other lovely towns of MDI offer famous gardens, vistas, restaurants, and activities for everyone to enjoy.
On Mount Desert Island, go on a whale watch, kayak, ride a bike, ride a horse, hike, climb, relax, take an evening cruise on a schooner and watch the sun set, enjoy classical music performed by visiting renowned musicians, motor in a lobster boat and learn about those delicious crustaceans.
Other areas nearby include beautiful Schoodic Peninsula (part of Acadia National Park) near Winter Harbor and Prospect Harbor. The village of Blue Hill is a few miles west of Ellsworth. Beyond is the bridge over Eggemoggin Reach to Deer Isle and Stonington, charming seaside villages with views of islands, lobster boats, kayaks and sailboats.
Come to the log house on Raccoon Cove to read, rest, eat, explore, shop, sleep and enjoy!

This is really a wonderful property. There were 5 of us 2 adults 3 teenagers. the house was perfect for us. The kitchen was well stock with kitchen utensils and even more items than we expected, like a big pot to cook lobsters in, and a cooler for our use.Plenty of extra linens and blankets to use. Loved having a washer and dryer to use, we all packed only 5 days of clothes in carry on bags for a two week stay, did not have to check our bags on the flight. We have stayed at many time shares and rented other homes and this one tops our list of favorites. We will definitely return to this home when we return. I would absolutely recommend this home to any one traveling to this area. Lynda, you have done a great job with the place. Thanks so much for sharing it with us.

This is a lovely home with that is very comfortable with a great view. After driving through the pouring rain and arriving we all agreed that it was beyond our expectations...truly the best of Maine. It is near to many local beaches as well as Acadia National Park. Everything we needed for a relaxing and enjoyable vacation. Owners provided a crib, pack & play, high chair and stroller which made packing for the trip with my family much easier. The home is absolutely beautiful with an open concept layout . So, while cooking, we could all be involved in the process. A short walk and sunrise over the cove can be viewed with the Acadia Mts. on the horizon. Very peaceful. We hiked and toured all day coming back to a relaxing and lovely vacation "home". I would recommend this as a great family vacation location and we hope to return next year.
We're delighted you enjoyed staying at Cove House! It is music to our ears when families are happy with what we provide to make their stay as pleasant as possible. Travelling with little ones has its own set of challenges, so we try to make easy for them while visiting Cove House. Thank you for your comments, and we'd love for you to visit again next year!

Great House - Great Time
July 25, 2013
Our family had a wonderful time staying at the Cove House. The house was well appointed - it had everything we needed to thoroughly enjoy our stay. We truly felt that it was our home away from home. We highly recommend to anyone planning to vacation in the Lamoine area.
Your visit to Cove House was memorable in that your roots are right in Lamoine! It was a pleasure having you here, and we hope you got some good results in your genealogical research. The Lamoine Historical Society is a great source of that kind of information.
Best wishes for a great summer. We look forward to seeing you again.

What a wonderful time we had at your cottage Lynda and Chris. It rained the whole time we were there but we enjoyed every moment of our stay! You made our visit to the Bar Harbor area just perfect. We live in an area of Pennsylvania that is so beautiful but to get away and stay in such a confortable place was just what we needed. (Oh, by the way, the Silverware was such a nice touch.) We did get to see the beautiful red fox and saw the evidence of the bear passing through. We were hoping to see more wild-life but since it rained so much they were all sleeping somewhere I guess. I would love to recommend the cabin for just anyone who would like to have a "real" vacation. Could not get any place better! I've been talking about it to everyone since I got home. Thank you again--and we will be back there as soon as we can. We would love to come up in the winter. Even if we got snowed in for a week it would be a wonderful place to be. Cj, Gary, Linda and Fred
It was so nice to have the opportunity to meet you. I was delighted that you enjoyed your stay at Cove House in spite of the weather! We thank you for your comments and hope your next visit is full of sun shine and warm days. The weather finally broke on Memorial Day!
Look forward to seeing you again.

The owner provided absolutely everything imaginable for our use, from a bookcase full of carefully chosen and catalogued books, to every cooking utensil, pot, pan, spice that we could imagine. We were very sorry to go, the views, the cabin itself and the proximity to Acadia were all first rate. We definately plan to stay there agagin.
Peace and fun

We had an amazing time at the Cove House! It is on the most beautiful cove with eagles, osprey, porcupine, and squirrel as constant companions. We have a 1 year old, and all baby amenities were provided!! The house itself has everything you could need, is so comfortable and well-appointed. We enjoyed hanging at the house, hiking in Acadia, exploring the surrounding area, and of course, eating lobster at local restaurants and at home (all supplies for cooking them at home are also provided!) We highly recommend the Cove House!
We're delighted that you enjoyed Cove House! I'm so glad you used the baby items. Having grandchildren, I understand why it's so much easier for parents if they don't need to travel with all those extras. You need to carry enough as it is!
You are welcome any time at Cove House. It was a pleasure having you there.

This spectacular property provided a warm and welcoming "home" base from which to share with our kids (7 and 5) the many wonderful adventures my wife and I have cherished from Maine and Acadia - our 3rd visit to Mt. Desert. This cabin is so well appointed, we thought we were in a spec house from Log Home magazine. Early mornings on the bench, sipping coffee and watching the local clammers and lobstermen ply their trade in the cove, while the birds and wildlife romped about in the dawn light was the perfect start to every day and will be remembered forever. While close to all the popular attractions, Cove House also fosters exploration of the many smaller coastal towns often overlooked. We love exploring off the beaten path. We lacked for nothing (in accommodations and activities) during our stay. Biking, hiking, swimming, sightseeing, and of course...eating. Wish we had another week.
