slice of heaven, October 26, 2009
By Pam Sullivan (Georgia)
We LOVED this place!!! The upper loft bedroom was quite the romantic getaway. We awoke every morning to a beautiful sunrise which you could see even as you showered. And we were greeted with a basket of goodies on arrival which was very welcomed. This was our only house rental that supplied (nice)soaps, shampoo, conditioner and lotion. when you fly in this is very appreciated. Great location to escape the rat-race of Bar Harbor and the outlet malls. Pam (Georgia)

We loved this house, October 1, 2009

We really enjoyed staying at this property. The house is beautifully decorated on the inside and is very clean. The view of the bay from the house is wonderful. There is a path down to the bay that makes it even more lovely. We highly recommend this house as a family vacation getaway!

This is the perfect place to get away from the city life and career! The web site photos and description seemed almost too good to be true but they were absolutly perfectly correct. The location is perfect for exploring and sight seeing and within an easy drive to Bar Harbor and many other great locations. The house is absolutly beautifula nd everything you could possible need is there in the house, including a lobster pot! The owners have not overlooked anything in the little spot of paradise. It is worth the trip and stay just to see the sun rise on a high tide morning. I highly recommend.

"Beyond Expectations
While we were excited by the photos I had to admit some concern that "it can't be that good". We were absolutely thrilled by how well the house was furnished and cleaned. I was hesitant to get the BBQ grill dirty. Everything was in great condition and beyond our expectations. Anything we could possibly need was available. The master bedroom was really special. It was neat to see the sunrise above your toes in the morning. The downstairs rooms were simpler but met the needs of our elementary age kids just great. We all loved the location and were disappointed several times to not return "home" before dark to enjoy it more. When we first arrived in the dark, I was fearful of never finding the house but the directions were just fine. This location is a perfect getaway for a couple alone or with younger children."

"Perfect for Families
Laurie and Dave were perfect hosts, helpful in every way. The home was gorgous. Just as the pictures showed and house was so clean and comfortable!!! We had more than enough room to spread out, the kitchen had everything we could have possibly needed. The laundry came in very handy with our active vacation. The wildflowers and her gardens were so pretty. It is a special place in many ways. The views were amazing from every room... a true gem!!!!
Immediatley upon arrival my girls ran down to the stream, explored the ocean grass, tidal pools and found a birds nest on the ground and a crab. They were in in heaven. Kayaking was a breeze from the shores of raccon cove. We were able to see and hear many birds, including the eagles nest and explore the little beaches, granite shoreline and inlets on the cove. So fun.
Close enough to Acadia National park we would alternate between the park and staying at our home away from home on Frenchmans Bay. Bar Harbour was beautiful and we enjoyed the views, shops and resturants there.
Ellsworth was a quaint town. Resturants, groceries and shops were 15 minutes away. Finellis Pizza was outstanding!!!
Highly recommended!!! You will not be disappointed!!!!"

"It was clear early on that the homeowners were very warm and professional with their quick email responses about the home and friendly advice. Upon arrival, the external view of the house and bay were serene and more beautiful that we even imagined! What took our breath away was everything to follow. The house was remarkable... Perfect. This spot is great for a family or a romantic getaway. You won't want to go home! Acadia is only about a 20 minute drive, one of the most magnificent spots in the US! Bar Harbour is right around the corner, with lots of shopping, good eats, and fun things to do. You can't beat the convenience of the stores and 5 star restaurants 10 minutes away! whether it's the majestic outdoors you seek or a relaxing getaway, this place is ideal. Will definitely be back."

"We spent a week and a half in this lovely house in its even more beautiful spot on Frenchman Bay. The description and pictures of both in the listing don't do them justice! The house seems spanking new and is spotless and well-supplied. The downstairs rooms and master bedroom provide great views and the entire house is airy and open. It was wonderful waking up to the quiet beauty of the Bay. The owners were unobtrusive but extremely pleasant and helpful, whether it involved tire repair or tourist information. While the house happily is a bit off the beaten track, it is very easy to access Acadia and Bar Harbor. We certainly would recommend this house and would return ourselves if again we visit the area."

"We spent a week in this amazing home and it exceeded my expectations in every way. Waking up to views of the bay with the breeze rolling in through the many windows and enjoying evenings on the deck were just incredible. The house has everything you’d want for a vacation home from a well stocked, brand-new, kitchen and grill to a deck with ample outdoor seating to well-kept bedrooms and bathrooms. It is very secluded and private, but it is only a short drive Ellsworth in one direction and Bar Harbor and Acadia National Park in the other. The surrounding areas have something for everyone whether you’re seeking amazing vistas or adventure (Acadia), shopping (Bar Harbor), or fine dining (Bar Harbor/Ellsworth). Laurie and David were very gracious hosts and made us feel at home right away. I'd highly recommend this home to anyone looking for a wonderful place to experience Maine and Acadia. I’ll definitely come back."

"This was our first visit to Maine and it was better than we ever imagined. The house was amazing and very clean. There was always something to do - kayaking, beachcombing, fishing (on your "doorstep") and exploring and cycling in Acadia National Park (about 20 minutes drive away). Our only regret is that we only booked for one week instead of two weeks. We have told friends about "Frenchman Bay Retreat" and they are all asking for more details. We will be back again, only next time it will be for longer!"

"We had a wonderful vacation in Maine and this beautiful house was a great part of it. Super clean, awesome views of the bay and situated in the woods. It was as close to perfect as it gets. Great location near Acadia with endless things to do. The gentleman who delivered the kayaks was very nice. Thanks and we'll be back"

"The web page was very accurate. The proprietors were awesome. They provided everything we needed and were a great source of information about the area. I would definitely recommend this to a friend. Don't miss a drive to Schoodic Point!"
