Description of the Lannion vacation home rental
Allo allo! The "Ancien Cafe" is a lovely converted cafe-bar in a charming corner of the Cotes d'Armor, in the Breton-speaking heartland. Don't worry - everyone speaks French!!

Ground floor accommodation comprises a very large lounge/diner, with books, games, music and a fireplace (it makes a great party room!) a spacious fully-equipped kitchen, a small WC and a wooden veranda.

Upstairs are the three main bedrooms (1 twin, 2 doubles and a small child's room adjoining one of the doubles). All three main rooms have ensuite bathrooms. The lounge also has a sofa-bed that can bring total accommodation to eight if required. Total living space is about 1,400 sq ft.

Outside you have a private garden with boules court, and a large yard with ping pong, barbecue etc. Three cars can easily be parked off road on the property.

The superb beaches on the Pink Granite Coast and beyond spoil one for choice. You can take boat rides to the islands, do water sports (sailing, windsurfing, diving etc.), take long strolls among the dunes and the rocks, or just lounge in the sun. The attractive markets at Plouaret, Lannion and Morlaix will make your mouth water, and the unspoilt Celtic charm of ancient villages surrounds you on all sides.

Please let us know if you have any special requests and we will do our best to accommodate. We look forward to welcoming you!

Area Info
The old village of Vieux-Marché was once bustling, but since the high speed railway went to Plouaret, most of the activity went with it. Consequently it now slumbers in unhurried bucolic bliss with very little traffic.

It is just 8 miles from the coast, 30 miles from Roscoff ferry port and 70 miles from St-Malo ferry port. Brest International Airport is 60 miles away. The high speed railway, with services to Paris and beyond, is just over a mile away. The TGV to Paris takes around 3.5 hours.

It has a few amenities, but there is a wider choice in Plouaret, just over a mile away. There you will find all the basic shops, supermarkets, petrol station and even a weekly market. The local pardon (Breton religious festival) takes place in late July. A unique feature of the area is the joint Christian-Muslim pilgrimage to the shrine of the seven sleepers of Ephesus.

The nearest town is Lannion, about 15 Km away. This unspoilt town of 20,000 inhabitants sits on the river Leguer and is a riot of flowers in summertime. Here you will find an excellent range of shops and restaurants and a wonderful weekly market in the historic square. The same square also plays host to the 'tardives' - outdoor concerts held in the summer months.

On all sides are tiny villages to discover, full of unspoilt Celtic charm. Among them nestle some real gems of restaurants offering delicious local fayre at unbelievable prices. We heartily recommend the Sainte-Barbe at Plouaret for starters (and mains, and desserts!)
