Cozy Home Away from Home

This home was prefect for our needs. We rented the house to serve as a base of operations for a ski trip. The home was comfortable and inviting. The chairs, couches and beds were cozy and the fireplace and dimmed lights made for a lovely setting to chat, read or watch movies. There was ample room and sufficient bathrooms so waiting wasn't a problem! The ping pong table in the attic was a bonus that a few of us took advantage of. The only challenge we faced was the stove. The owners warned us that it was old and finicky and it lived up to it's reputation. Overall it was fine and we learned to work with it. We prepared a lovely dinner on our first night and gathered around the huge and beautiful dinning table. Our group is already talking about returning next year. We didn't want to leave!

Thanks so much Mela and all your "Ski Buddies". We're working on a kitchen remodel for this summer, although I'll have to say we'll miss that retro period piece stove! Old Mrs. Brender bought that and there's some sentimental value...oh well. Glad you enjoyed your stay. We'd love to have you back!

Delightful stay, delightful home

We had a delightful four day weekend at the lovely Brender Canyon Farmhouse. Our group of 8 loves to cook and we found the kitchen well appointed good pots, pans, coffee making options, pans, wine glasses, etc. Some day we may return to see the results of the anticipated kitchen remodel...if it matches the caliber of the restoration work in the rest of the house, it will be wonderful. The sleeping and bathroom arrangements worked very well for our group; plenty of room to spread out and not be in each others hair. We never even took advantage of the entire third floor play area...we spent hours talking and laughing in the great room which had the best seating arrangements for one large one or two smaller groups to gather and share stories and wine. The location is lovely in the winter with snow all around and the hosts were gracious in answering our one phone call inquiry about the iPod music system. We had a grand time and agreed we'd return here again.

Great place with lots of space.

We had a wonderful time at the Brender Canyon Farmhouse. The house is clean, comfortable and very spacious. The property is beautiful- there's plenty of land to roam. We had hoped for snow, but found the ground mostly bare and dry (I suspect that this was just a fluke for the time of year we were there). The fireplace and cozy living area were wonderful. The kitchen is very dated but functional. My only complaint is that the sink faucet is wonky and everyone got an unexpected spray when they turned it on for the first time. There are no tv channels (but an extensive DVD collection) and the guys would have liked to have watched the playoffs. If you are looking for a good getaway for a large crowd without a lot of distractions, this place is definitely worth the trip.

Thanks so much for the nice review! Yes, it's a fluke this year to have so little snow - but I believe there's about 24" today! You just missed it. We'll check out the sink when we get there next as we've never had that problem unless our 3 sons wanted to spray one another. We were hoping to have fiber-optic lines by Fall 2011 but the county cancelled the work which might be a blessing as we spend much more time visiting with one another, playing games and getting outdoors. We head to a local cozy pub for major sporting events. We will someday remodel the kitchen but we kind of like it that way--reminds us it's our "cabin" instead of a fancy home! So glad you came and we hope you can come back again to much more snow, the property and one another. THANKS!!

This is right in the heart of orchard country the houseis clean and well equiped, a most wonderful experence. Close to Levenworth to shop, eat and things, right on the wenatche river for tube floating, hikes and walks, yet out in the country for some fantastic nature observence and unlimited star gazing. We would like to come back and do this again. VERY WELL WORTH THE EFFORT TO GET THERE AND THE MONEY SPENT. T. Corier

Warm and inviting, big enough for the whole family

When the cold, rainy weather threatened to spoil our traditional Mother's Day camping trip, we scrambled to find a last minute substitute. The Brender Canyon Farm was an amazing find. It comfortably accommodated our 10 adults and two dogs, with room to spare. The house was spotless and we appreciated the fully stocked kitchen complete with condiments and basic staples. We enjoyed exploring the large property, scrambling up the hillside to get a view of the area and taking long bike roads down quiet canyon roads. This may become a new Mother's Day tradition.

Nine 50th Birthdays

Even the pictures didn't fully capture the open, welcoming environment that our family enjoyed at the Brender Farmhouse. Coming from a rural area farther East, this location provided the quiet we all grew up with and enough space to get away for private moments with family members. The kitchen space allowed us to cook together with more than enough counters for preparing large family meals. There were also plenty of provisions available for us to use if necessary. The open entertainment area and dining room were inviting and tastefully decorated with wonderful natural light from the picture windows. We found things very clean and easily accessible. If we can manage to coordinate a gathering next year, we would choose this location again.

Old Fashion Christmas

This was the most beautiful Christmas we have ever had. The whole property is was well kept and every member of our family ,from 4 to 85 walked into the house and said WOW! Our Family wanted to have an old fashioned Christmas this year and this was the perfect spot to do it. We made all of our Christmas decorations, we strong cranberries and popcorn on our tree along with personalized gingerbread boys. We all made homemade Christmas gifts and we didn't hear one complaint from one of our 18 family members. My 85 year old mother wants to go there again next year!!! Thank you so much for sharing your little piece of Heaven with our family.

The Perfect Space

I spent the weekend at the Farmhouse with a large group of friends. We were truly blessed by our time together in this very special space. We especially loved the great room - the perfect place to have some solitude (reading, writing, napping, etc.) or intimacy (conversations, games, etc.) while at the same time feeling like you're hanging out with everyone else too as they're scattered around the room! We also enjoyed a very special feast on Saturday night around the beautiful big table. Oh yeah - there were also some pretty intense games of ping pong going on up on the third floor! The fresh eggs in the morning were a bonus too! We all left agreeing that this was the perfect space for our group and wishing we had more time!

Best Christmas Ever!!!!

The house was more beautiful then the pictures on the web site. It was cozy and comfortable, plenty of room for the entire family. There were several special touches with the decorations like an ornament with our families name on it for the tree. If felt like home to all of us. Very comfortable beds, plenty of dishes and towels,, nothing extra we could have needed. We will definately rent again and pass the info on to other people. We love to see the place in the spring or summer.

The Guerin and Bernard families from Western Washington and British Columbia gathered at Brender Canyon Farmhouse for four days to celebrate a family wedding in the Cashmere area. It was wonderful to be together as one large family instead of in separate motel rooms. We loved the location, the warm (and dry) weather and wind, and even the sound of the resident rooster in the mornings. It was great to enjoy early morning coffee on the deck, breakfast in the country kitchen and barbeque dinners, play games or find quiet spots to read and relax. We're already making plans to be back sometime next year. Thanks, Szmanias, for making your beautiful home available to us.
