My family and I spent three days at Trailview in early October. The home is immaculately clean, spacious, and has just about everything you could need. Definitely would do it again.

Rather than endure power outages, nerve-wracking views from home, and worry about family scattered across town, I booked Trailview cottage during Hurricane Irene and had a fantastic family get-away. The cottage easily accommodated nine adults and two small children. The common areas on the main floor and lower level were big enough for everyone to gather and the bedrooms were removed enough and spacious enough for privacy when desired. The cottage had everything we needed and was only a short drive from gas, groceries, and family friendly activities. The kitchen was more than adequate for preparing meals for the group and the views from the back deck and gentle breezes on the front porch swing were the perfect pairings with the wines from the nearby vineyards. The only thing better than the cottage was working with JW. With short notice and a hard luck story I was prepared for the worst, but everything about the rental process was pleasant and easy. My family is already discussing return trips.

We stayed here, along with 7 other people (9 people in all), and it was very comfortable. The house had lots of rooms and beds. The house comes fully stocked with linens, appliances, and FUN! The location of the house is amazing and steps away from Fox Meadows Vineyard. The party room downstairs is perfect with the TV and the speakers. The main floor is a great place to lounge and note the IPOD hook up under the TV!!! We were here to enjoy the area, vineyards, and tubing. The washer and dryer helped after the tubing trip. The firepit was amazing and we made a fire every night we were there. The owner and property managers are real nice. I dealt with JW from beginning to the end and he was super friendly and helpful. Upon our arrival, he helped with suggestions and ideas. The views were plentiful from here!!! Great place to stay in the area!!!

We had an awesome time at Trailview Cottage! We came with 2 other couples and we all had children 3 and under. (FYI~ the master bedroom closet is big enough for a pack and play with plenty of room to spare! It also has a window with a view of the mountains.) The kids had an amazing time with all the open space to run around. We went to the winery next door on the first night and got a really good bottle of wine. Then hit the Exxon.. Yes I said Exxon for a couple more bottles. The closest grocery store was in Front Royal, Exxon is just down the street. We really enjoyed our last night there. We spent the evening on the back deck overlooking the mountains & valley We had an amazing show. Millions of Fireflies, multiple firework displays off in the distance as well as a spectacular lightning over the hills. The house was plenty big for all of us and the rooms were spread out nicely for privacy when you wanted it. So over all we had a great time and plan to do it again. Thanks for sharing your home with us. It was everything we wanted and more that we had hoped for.

The house is had everything that we would need, including linens, cleaning items, and a fully equipped kitchen, including fridge with ice maker, microwave, stove. Construction was new or like new and the house was immaculately clean. It is tucked next to and behind a vineyard and from the balcony you can look off into the purple hills in the day and at night you can see the Milky Way if the sky is clear. Wifi if you just have to check in with work or friends -- worked fine. Large screen TV downstairs with surround speakers and a DVD (not Bluray) player for a movie in the evening. The backyard is fenced for dogs, but be aware that you can't walk the fence line because about half the fence is behind heavy vegetation; if you have an escape artist type dog there may be gaps large enough to worry about. Our dog disappeared into the bushes for a while and worried us, but it turns out he was was just camping at the edge of a rabbit hole. We stopped by the winery next door and got a bottle of wine; we walked the Appalachian trail, with entrances a mile or two down the road. (Be ready for hills.) We did have the stink bug problem some mentioned but figured out that they were coming down the chimney; close the damper, problem solved. All in all a wonderful relaxing away-from-it-all weekend for hanging out on the balcony and reading to hiking. Really appreciated the fact that I could bring my dog. J.W. was friendly, super helpful and patient -- got the sense that he and the owner really wanted to make sure that we had everything we needed to enjoy the house.

We had an amazing time at the Trailview Cottage. The house was very clean and even better than we expected. The back deck is fantastic and the fire pit made our evenings memorable. We drove about 5-10 minutes and went for a hike on the Appalachian Trail. We also walked to Fox Meadow winery and had a very nice afternoon on their back deck. We loved it!

I could not have asked for a better cottage to stay in for the weekend before my big wedding! Some of my fabulous girlfriends rented the place for us for the weekend and we LOVED it~ The house is great and to call it a cottage is laughable~ This place is practically a plantation home! Once all the fog clears, if you are so lucky, you can see for MILES and miles. The country side is amazing and the nature didn't invade our space too much. (Stink bugs weren't too bad :) I will say that without much cell phone coverage and some blacked out areas on GPS systems, the place can be tricky to find. We encountered a lot of Fog and with little/no signage for the entrance, we did pass by the drive way several....several times. The area itself is so beautiful and with all those wineries so close, this is a great location. All and all; GREAT experience!

The cottage is as advertised. A really nice set up with amazing views. 8 of us spent a rainy and windy weekend there recently cozy around the fire and cooking gormet meals. Plenty of room for folks to lounge around together or off by themselves. The fully fenced yard was great for our dogs .. alot more space then they are used to. The Trillium trailhead in GR Thompson Wild Life Management Area is just a little ways up the same road the house is on. The Hunter's Head Tavern in nearby Upperville was also a great treat. Highly Recommend.

Trailview Cottage is all that it is described to be and more! I had such a wonderful stay here during the Christmas holiday. The cottage is warm and inviting, very clean, tastefully decorated and complete with all modern day amenities. The cottage is hidden off the road on a lovely , private piece of land with the most spectacular views of the Shenandoah mountains. We enjoyed visiting a number of the nearby wineries , cooking and catching up in front of the working stone fire place in the evenings. My dogs also enjoyed safely roaming across the fenced- in backyard! Both the owner and the property manager could not have possibly been more accommodating throughout our stay. This is the perfect meeting place for a relaxing weekend with friends and family! I will definitely be back and look forward to visiting in spring or summer months in order to take full advantage of trails close by.

Over the Thanksgiving week we had a mini family reunion at this cottage. Eight adults stayed for six nights, cooked, ate, drank and were quite comfortable and happy. Mark was a true southern gentleman delivering everything he had promised and more.. After 20 years of vacationing in NC, we are switching to Va due to our experience with the people and the natural beauty of the area. Rent here, you won't regret it. Just leave Thanksgiving week alone. It's mine!

Really enjoyed my stay here with 3 other couples. Property management was extremely understanding and responsive right up to the last minute of our trip, requests which ranged from adding an additional person, additional pet, inquiring about information about the trip, and inquiring about the location of something in the cottage. This place was the perfect price/distance/location/size, everything we were looking for. Location next to all of the wineries is unbeatable. They should add Phillip Carter to their list of friendly wineries. To be honest, stink bugs were a bit of a nuisance, but frankly it's a cottage in the woods in Virginia in the winter; it's to be expected. I've been in far worse. View is a gorgeous shot down the Shenandoah mountain range that's something else.

We had a wonderful experience at Trailview Cottage. The view is so gorgeous! The house is quite large and nice. We loved cooking and making a fire one night. My husband appreciated that the house has cable & internet. Great location- we enjoyed hiking at Shenandoah National Park and wine tasting nearby. JW was great to work with- we definitely plan to return!

The cottage was very clean and nice except for the stink bug problem. Apparently, stink bugs have seasonally taken over the mountains in VA - there were so many! The view was beautiful and the house was big enough to move around in. We would definitely stay again, we just hope its cooler with no stink bugs!! Also, JW from the rental company was very pleasant to work with.
