Brand New Little Switzerland Log Cabin w/ Hot Tub
|Per night||$125 - $135|
When your not relaxing at the cabin or exploring the property, you are close to groceries, restaurants, hospital, mountain music venues, and various tourist attractions like Emerald Village. You are also close to many wonderful natural attractions. Just hop on the Blue Ridge and you are close to Crabtree Falls and Mount Mitchell to the south. Head north and you come to the Apple Orchard at Altapass (where free mountain music is played frequently), Linville Falls, and Grandfather Mountain. My favorite local activity is going to majestic Roan Mountain where beautiful rhododendron gardens and evergreen forests await. This is also where the Appalachian Trail follows the N. Carolina/Tennessee border and a short and easy walk up Carver's Gap will bring you to mountain balds with some truly spectacular long views. We provide our guests with a booklet of suggestions with directions that includes a varied mix of information to fit different tastes and interests.
Please feel free to contact me with any questions or concerns. In the meantime, we sincerely believe that you will have a wonderful and memorable experience if you try our cabin.
Just 2 miles from the property, you can also hike to Grassy Creek Falls, a high, delicate fall that is quite lovely. Its a lovely walk and If you go at dusk, your chances of spotting a bear are pretty good if you are interested in that.
Visit Little Switzerland downtown and Spruce Pine for interesting shops and a wide assortment of restaurants. I particularly like the funky but extensive bookstore located in Little Switzerland. Besides the usual mix of fast food there are 2 good barbecue restaurants close by as well as fine dining at the Switzerland Inn, Little Switzerland Cafe, Mountain View and Knife and Fork restaurants.
Spruce Pine is the site of a blacksmiths fair each spring as well as a large gem and mineral show and a bluegrass and barbeque festival in the summer. The nearby towns of Burnsville, Micaville, Old Fort and Black Mountain all have their own charms as well as festivals, especially during the summer months.
Gems and minerals continue to play an important role in this community, and our property is just a few miles from the only commercially viable emerald mine to have ever operated in the US. You can also see historic mines and try your luck at finding gemstones at the Emerald Village, less than a mile from the cabin. From the road you will see a very picturesque old mine that now contains water below the multi-hued rock walls that climb 50-70 feet above.
Authentic mountain music is played regularly at many local venues that are close by, including the Apple Orchard and Young's Mountain Music. A little further, but within an hours drive, are Asheville with its diverse art and music offerings, the Biltmore Estate, Grove Park Inn and Spa, and an extensive and international selection of fine restaurants. A wellspring of new music that often combines bluegrass, rock and international rhythms, Asheville hosts a lot of concerts as well as free music events like the Downtown After Five, Bele Chere, and Shindig on the Green series.
Be sure to also check out my favorite local spot, Roan Mountain, with its famous rhododendron gardens and evergreen forests. When you go, also take at least a short walk on the Appalachian Trail that crosses at the entrance to the Park at Carver's Gap. Just an easy and short hike up the natural balds that characterize the tops of some mountains in this area are some of the most spectacular views in NC. On the way to Roan Mountain, you can also stop in Bakersville for some wonderful gourmet goat cheese that is produced by a local farmer. You also might try one of the great hamburgers sold at Bonnie and Clyde's in nearby Loafers Glory.
There are many, many other things to do in the area and we provide our guests with a guide to the foregoing mentioned activities as well as a host of other activities ranging from horseback riding, golf, canoeing, skiing, whitewater rafting, etc. at the cabin. But you will also find plenty to do right on the property as you explore the hardwood knoll across from the cabin, playing in or lounging by the creek, or simply sitting on your porch or in the hot tub watching a beautiful sunset or the amazing stars seen on clear, dark nights. Deer may wander into the pasture and the fireflies can be magical

My first time in the mountain and it was WONDERFUL. Mr. Pearson was a pleasure working with. He made our first visit a great one. The cabin was just as he advertise, plus more. The cabin is located where you can see the beauty of the mountain. Inside was very comfortable and had everything you need for anything. All you have to bring is your food and yourself. There is a great view of Mt. Mitchell and it is very easy to get to .Blue Ridge Mountain and Parkway are also close by.The town of Little Switzerland ,the people and view are breathe taking. And if you are into exploring this is the place for you. I just wanted some peace and quiet and I got it. Oh yes , not to forget my furring friend I call him Big Boy, the neighborhood dog. I felt safe with him around because he walked with me around the area keeping harm from me. And Mr. Doug , oh yes Mr. Doug ,he help us with direction to the cabin. He was very patience and friendly with us. We are looking forward to going back in the summer and many ,many more times. Thank you Mr.Steve and Mr. Doug for allowing us to stay in you warm and homely cabin. It was a pleasure.

Our stay at the cabin couldn't have been any better. Doug, the caregiver, was completely awesome.Very nice guy. He even went out and bought a snow tube for my son so he could go tubing down the hill. The hill by the way, is just perfect for sledding. The cabin was very cozy. There was a true warmth about it. The cabin had everything you could ever need to cook and clean with which was awesome. I had forgotten laundry soap and aluminum foil, but have no fear, there was some there! We will definitely be returning. I highly recommend this place to couples and families looking for some quality time together. You can really get away from it all. The views were absolutely breath taking. Oh and we saw turkey and deer almost every night and every morning. Thank you Steve and Doug for making our stay everything we wanted it to be and so much more!!

Great cabin for a weekend getaway, the hot tub was great for star gazing, well furnished, comfortable, and had everything we needed for a break from ordinary.

The cabin was super clean, (looked new), charming and cozy. We really enjoyed our stay and hiked every day at nearby hiking trails located 10-50 minutes from the cabin. The owner and property manager are very thoughtful and accommodating.

Nice new cabin and great location. Owners were terrific and made my stay very comfortable. This is a great location if you like the Blue Ridge Parkway, hiking, biking or just kicking back and enjoying the mountain views. I'd give it ten stars if that were an option.
