Description of the Lorgues vacation home rental

between Lorgues and Les Arcs, LES CIGOGNES is part of an ancient family compound ("hameau").

The house
is situated at an altitude of 120 meters above sea level.This former bergerie was renovated for human habitation about 20 years ago, and over the past years was renovated to a more modern standard.

The peaceful, forested location is scented with herbs and pine, and has free views of nearby hills as well as distant mountains, and has a feeling of ancient, traditional Provence. Here, one is close to nature.

Several buildings of the hameau, which are next to the house on the eastern side are ruins, many of which are overgrown with fig and vine, and make an impression of a painting of the Romantic Period. Continuing on the other side of these are two ancient farm houses which are seldom occupied, the owners of which also possess some of the ruins.

Area Description

The surroundings:
The garden which lays off the terrace on the surrounding "restanques" (stone reinforced terraced land) is planted with olive, lavender and oleander. Lying below, is a large flat shaded area, ideal for lounging. A long hose which is fed by a well, is connected to an outdoor shower for refreshment of people and plants.

Shopping:
The neighbouring village is 3 km away and offers a bakery, small general store, bar, post and a good wine cooperative. Lorgues (6 km away) has 2 supermarkets, restaurants, banks and various small shops including a beauty salon with public internet access. Every Tuesday morning local farmers and merchants hold a market day.
