Description of the Lubec vacation cottage rental

Lubec Bay Cottage is a classic Maine seaside cottage with spectacular bay views and is surrounded by three acres of lush meadows with a boardwalk leading to our private sitting area for reading, birding or launching a kayak. Conveniently located within walking distance of South Lubec beach and less than two miles from West Quoddy State Park with Lighthouse and four miles from town and Campobello Island, the Cottage is situated in a quiet, rural setting and beautifully landscaped. The cottage is furnished for convenience and comfort with charming antiques and decor, and has electric fireplaces both in the living room and the upstairs reading room for added atmosphere. For outdoor living, the expansive deck has a dining area, swing and separate space for gathering around the luminarium fireplace. The upper balcony has bistro seating and two lounge chairs for watching the sunrise. The artist studio is fully equipped and has plenty of natural light. Lubec Bay Cottage is a special place you'll look forward to returning to after a day of adventure!

Area Information

Lubec Bay Cottage is in an area where the opportunities are endless - you can take a Puffin Tour to Machias Seal Island with Bold Coast Charter Co. in Cutler! Birdwatch, Hike, Whale-Watch, Kayak, Beachcomb, and so much more! You can sometimes sight whales off West Quoddy, which is just down the road, or off East Quoddy on Campobello Island. In downtown Lubec, you can see seals feeding in Lubec Channel; rent a kayak & bicycle or take a water taxi to Eastport. At the nearby state parks, lighthouses and nature preserves you can hike, enjoy the spectacular views, and birdwatch. Artists, writers and photographers are inspired by Lubec's vast coastline, unspoiled natural beauty, and by the picturesqueness of downtown Lubec. There are numerous local artists and art galleries that you can visit. The Lubec Historical Society, McCurdy's Smokehouse and Roosevelt International Park showcase the local history. The Sand Bar Wildlife Management Area that is adjacent to the property is known for its migrating birds.

Lodging tax: 7%
Deposits: A $400 ($500 with pet) per week deposit is due when placing your reservation. Your reservation is held for one week pending receipt of your deposit. Once your deposit is received your reservation will be confirmed. The deposit becomes a damage deposit during your stay. No cleaning fee. Full payment of rent and tax is due at least 6 weeks before the start of your stay. Week runs Saturday to Saturday during July, Aug & Early Sept. Check-in at 4:00 pm; Check-out at 10:00 am.

Other Fees: We welcome your well-behaved pet at Lubec Bay Cottage. There are plenty of fields, beaches and trails for you and your pet to enjoy. To the rental rate, add $15 per night for one pet; $25 per night for two. Maximum of two small to medium-size pets. Prior approval is required for pets. Nightly stays require a minimum of 3 nights. No nightly rates during July, August and early September.

Lubec Bay Cottage is situated in a very quiet rural Maine neighborhood where you can relax, feel comfortable and be secure. Internet access is available at the library in Downtown Lubec, as well as Summerkeys music concerts; whale watching tours; bike and kayak rentals; chocolatier shops; art galleries/shops; museums; and a boat taxi service between Lubec and Eastport. Its a great area for Geocaching for treasures with your GPS!

Words can not describe the beauty of this property. The scenery is beautiful from the cottage and the surrounding area. Quoddy State Park is breathtaking, the walk along the coast, seeing whales, seals, bald eagles, deer , grouse and moose simply incredible. I would highly recommend this cottage for anyone of all ages. There is a beach to comb for shells, rocks and sea glass which we already made some crafts out of. Don't hesitate, give Catherine a calll. We will be back.

The pictures on the web site really didn't tell all the story. The views from the cottage were fantastic. The cottage itself, was very nice. We had a wonderful time and would go back to Lubec cottage.

We Could Live Here - May thru Sept.

We spent two wonderful weeks at the Lubec Bay Cottage. I'm writing this email from our"vacation" home in the Endless Mountains of PA. We're on our way home to Easton, PA. My wife just said to me that "looking our over our lake doesn't quite have the same effect as the Sunrise over Campobello Island. The cottage is so warm and cozy. The people in and around Lubec are just really nice. We had a great time. And to my amazement, I ran into a work colleague who now lives in Lubec that I hadn't seen in at least 8 years. He recognized me one day while I was at Cohill's. Again, it was just a wonderful time.

My husband and I recently had the pleasure of honeymooning at this beautiful property. We cannot recommend it highly enough! The house was beautiful, the views were breath-taking, and the area is the perfect combination of a quiet rural setting and plenty to keep you entertained with Campobello to tour, West Quoddy Head State Park for hiking amidst gorgeous scenery, and miles of beaches nearby for beachcombing.

The cottage itself is soooooo charming with gorgeous views out every window & it's well equipped with all of the essentials ... we felt very at home in this comfy space. And Lubec is simply a beautiful place! We relaxed, enjoyed the views, explored neighboring towns, walked some spectacular trails at Quoddy Head & Hamilton Cove, read books, visited the Lubec Library for wireless internet access, rented movies from the Quik Stop, savored Monica's Chocolates & I painted too! What a treat it was to have the art studio to keep my art supplies in along with my wet paintings & to paint in too!
