Oceanside convenience, comfort and charm! From your door, a private boardwalk meanders through 3 acres of lush meadows to your own sitting area with 180-degree ocean views, birding opportunities in the marshes of the Sand Bar Wildlife Management Area that borders the property, and kayak access to the bay. Sandy beaches are a short stroll down the Bar Road; hiking trails and picnic areas at the West Quoddy Head Lighthouse and State Park are just down the road. Downtown Lubec with its shops and restaurants is less than three miles away. At Lubec Bay Cottage, each floor has spectacular ocean views and with 1920's charm it has all the comforts of home. There is a large deck for outdoor dining or star-gazing with a separate area for gathering around the warm hearth on a cool evening. The two bedrooms are cozy and inviting. The two full bathrooms and washer and dryer are so convenient. A private artist's studio is on the property for those who wish to capture the area on canvas.

Lubec and surrounding areas attract bird-watchers, hikers, whale-watchers, kayakers, and beachcombers because of the opportunities that abound. Whales can sometimes be sighted off West Quoddy just down the road or off East Quoddy on Campobello Island. In downtown Lubec, seals are often seen feeding in Lubec Channel, and there are bicycle rentals, whale watching charters, and a water taxi between Lubec and Eastport. The nearby state parks, lighthouses and nature preserves offer hiking trails, spectacular views, and bird-watching opportunities. Artists, writers and photographers are inspired by Lubec's vast coastline, unspoiled natural beauty, and by the picturesqueness of downtown Lubec. There are numerous local artists and art galleries in the area. The Lubec Historical Society, McCurdy's Smokehouse and Roosevelt International Park showcase local history. The Sand Bar Wildlife Management Area that is adjacent to the property is known for its migrating birds.

Lubec Bay Cottage is in a very quiet neighborhood where you can relax, feel secure and be comfortable. For added peace-of-mind, there is a roll-out ladder in each bedroom and a fire extinguisher and smoke alarm on each floor. All the windows are new and easily opened to get those cool sea breezes. In Downtown Lubec, there is Internet access available at the library; Summerkeys music concerts; whale watching tours; bike rentals; chocolatier shops; art galleries/shops; museums; and a boat taxi service between Lubec and Eastport so that you also may visit its art galleries, museums, shops, and restaurants, or take their whale watching and puffin tours and saltwater fishing trips. Lobsters, clams and scallops are available in-season for purchase from Lubec fishermen.

• Deposits: A $400 per week deposit is due when placing your reservation. Your reservation is held for one week pending receipt of your deposit. Once your deposit is received your reservation will be confirmed. The deposit becomes a damage deposit during your stay.
   
• Other Fees: We welcome your well-behaved pet at Lubec Bay Cottage. There are plenty of fields, beaches and trails for you and your pet to enjoy. To the reservation deposit and rental rate, please add $100 per week for 1 pet; add $75 to the rental rate for an additional pet. Maximum of two pets. Please inquire for off-season weekly and nightly rates and for long term rates. The 2009 Maine Lodgings Tax Rate is 7.0%.

The pictures on the web site really didn't tell all the story. The views from the cottage were fantastic. The cottage itself, was very nice. We had a wonderful time and would go back to Lubec cottage.

We spent two wonderful weeks at the Lubec Bay Cottage. I'm writing this email from our"vacation" home in the Endless Mountains of PA. We're on our way home to Easton, PA. My wife just said to me that "looking our over our lake doesn't quite have the same effect as the Sunrise over Campobello Island. The cottage is so warm and cozy. The people in and around Lubec are just really nice. We had a great time. And to my amazement, I ran into a work colleague who now lives in Lubec that I hadn't seen in at least 8 years. He recognized me one day while I was at Cohill's. Again, it was just a wonderful time.
