Precious Forest Spring Water Tubs !!

Had an amazing time this past weekend at Precious Forest!!! Ken and his family are amazing! We had a group of 16 for a 40th Birthday Surprise Party and couldn't have asked for a better time! Me, being the plan freak that I am, had many questions for Ken prior to our arrival, because as host of the party I would be showing up late with the birthday boy while all the guests set-up the surprise party. Ken answered all my questions quickly and even helped my friends in the set-up before I arrived. Perfect place to throw a huge party, lots of space outside to hang out and roam around. The inside of the cabin sat our large group comfortably around 2 tables for dinner, we even got a game in of 80s scene it, using the TV there. Although the generator started going out towards 10pm, we were able to keep filling it up with the gas tank provided. We even met a friendly cat who hung out with us that night onto the next morning. We were able to use the stove inside without any problems and had plenty of food to feed our large group and then some! We also were able to use the small sweetheart cabin, which has the awesome outdoor tub, although it was a little too cold to use it, that didn't stop us from trying! This property is excellent for those who love the outdoors! It's definitely just like camping, but with a comfort of a bed and you don't have to worry about bringing anything but food, drinks, ice chests, and a flashlight! I never got the chance to meet Ken, but he was very great at texting me to see if I needed anything and how everything was going. Great host, great party, great cabin, great property! GREAT! GREAT! GREAT! I definitely want to come back again sometime and highly recommend it!

I cannot tell you how wonderful my stay was--I actually cried when I had to leave. I am from Australia and spent ten days up at the property working on my novel, and it was the perfect writer's retreat; peaceful, inspiring, relaxing. I was supposed to be in Little Sweetheart's Cabin, but the big house was also free so I ended up spending most of my time there. The property was so wonderfully quiet, with views over the trees to the lake, and I found myself falling asleep every night with a huge grin on my face (and Sinbad the cat asleep on my chest). There are several good walks you can do from the cabin, one with a sweeping view of the national park, and the other the perfect place to watch the sun set over the lake. Every evening I would treat myself to a candle-lit bath either under the stars at Sweetheart's, or in the giant bath (as big as as single bed) down at the main house. Both Sweethearts and the main house are very comfortable and tastefully done...rustic charm and simplicity combined beautifully. Both places have wood stoves to cook on as well as gas, so I just kept the wood stove stoked up, a kettle permanently on the hob, and the place was always toasty and warm. Ken was such a sweet and helpful host, even lending his gorgeous silly dog Dippy to me for my stay, for company and security. I am a solo female traveller, but with the dog I felt completely safe. Ken, thank you for sharing your amazing home with us. We had a great time. I couldn't keep our baby out of your huge tub or keep my nine year old from catching all the lizards.My husband spent a lot of time just appreciating the craftmanship. I loved your antique stove it really completes your kitchen. My family oohed and aaahed at the wonderful views and sunset from the top porch. My baby discovered the moon while here and could not saying wow. My dog was the calmest he has ever been. We would love to make this house a permanent vacation spot, it brought us closer again and reminded us why we all love each other. My husband is prepared to challenge you to horse shoes next time. I just read a bed time story to my daughter Lucienne upstairs on the deck as the sun was setting and the bats were starting to emerge. Now we are reading and writing by candle light as the crickets sing outside. All is quiet. Our week here has passed too quickly. It took three days to slow down from city life to this pace. A month would be ideal. Ah well at least we get to camp in Big Sur on the way back to LA. Thanks Ken for the lovely cabin, the ripe tomatoes and peaches and the good tips. Brassfield winery was gorgeous. Blue Lakes was so refreshing. And best of all the jug of water straight from the mountain. I wish I could fill the car with water jugs and take that home with us. 05/07/09 Positive Precious Forest is a great get away place to go for peace and quiet. We took our family for a mini vacation and although it was only a few days, it felt so much longer. The cabin is cozy and is majestically surrounded by beautiful trees and the blue sky. We had a very relaxing and fun get away. We enjoyed nights playing chess and cooking and spending quality time with our children. We also saw deers, turkeys and lots of birds nearby. When we returned home, I woke up the next day expecting to see the forest again … if you can take that with you, then you know you had a great time! Thanks Ken and your brother for always making sure we were o.k. We'd love to return again.

04/28/09 Positive We have been to The Cabin twice now & both times we have had wonderful adventures. We love The Cabin(we think of it as our private getaway). Whenever we feel the need to recharge we start talking about The Cabin. We fell in love with the antique cook stove-it is fun & amazingly easy to use-at first we thought we'd only be eating cold food :). It is beautiful & peaceful on the mountain, & you feel you've left all your cares behind. Ken is a wonderful host, & goes above & beyond to make sure your stay is a wonderful experience that you won't forget. He built this cabin as a labor of love & it definately shows.

04/02/09 Positive This cabin was awesome, and like the previous comment, was the perfect blend of comfort and rustic. It is a 5 mile drive up a dirt road, so it is away from everything, but not too bad of a drive.
The Clearlake area is great; we tried and recommend Rosa D' Oro and Wildhurst wineries.
Ken and Harley (the caretaker) do a great job, and we heavily reccomend Precious Forest.

03/31/09 Positive We had a great time at the cabin. It is the perfect blend of rustic and comfort. The siting of the cabin enabled a western view from the bedroom and upper deck that was spectacular! It was incredibly quiet and private. At night, the stars filled the sky because there was virtually no ambient light. There is hiking available further up Bartlett Springs Road at Pinnacle Rock. We liked Ceago Winery on 20E just down the hill from the cabin. Wilbur Hot Springs is just one hour east from the cabin--perfect for a day trip. The owner and caretaker were very helpful.

02/24/09 Positive Our stay at the Precious Forest cabin was PERFECT. We went there to get away from our busy schedule-- and spend a romantic weekend together, and that is exactly what we got. The cabin is beautifully made, and makes you feel as if you are far far away from the real world. The cabin has many windows in every room which was an extra bonus to be able to see the beautiful views as we were eating, sleeping, or just hanging out on the coach.

Ken and Eddie made sure everything was perfect for us, and made sure any concern or problem we had was fixed.

We had a wonderful time, and look forward to visiting the cabin again.

02/09/09 Positive My wife and I spent a lovely weekend in this isolated mountain cabin. The cabin itself is gorgeous - it is quite obvious that a lot of time and love went into building it. The weekend in the mountain truly felt like an escape from everyday life. We visited during the middle of winter, but the heater kept us warm and there was plenty of hot water. There was also loads of wildlife that we could see from the big windows in the cabin. Even our small dog loved the weekend getaway! We will no doubt be back for another visit.

I had the pleasure of staying at Precious Forest most of last October 2008 with my fiance. I am still thinking about the time we spent there and how it affected me. WOW! I really learned how to relax! Mountain living is where it is at!! The full moons are amazing! The sunsets are tops and the smell of fresh mountain air is the best. Also the long hot spring water baths were healing to my soul. THIS IS A MUST GO! I have paid three times more for a boring hotel room! STOP, GO TO YOUR PHONE AND CALL FOR A RESERVATION. Dundee

01/20/09 Positive This cabin is very secluded and quiet, which made for a very romantic weekend getaway for my girlfriend and me. The upstairs deck is a great place to have dinner and wine while watching the sunset.

Note: some off-road driving is required; don't bring a Corvette like I almost did!

Bartlett Springs road is a county maintained gravel/dirt road. The county grades this road twice a year. I do not reccomend nice sports cars on this road. Any car will make it to the cabin no problem unless there is snow or excessive rain which I monitor always. thanks again

Ken, Thanx so much for the time we has here. It was a well need break from our fast Oakland life. We recharged our batteries and go back with memories of candle light sunsets, bats, trees, joy, the hot Big Bath tub, walks in the woods and the hope of one day having a stove loke you!!

Ken, lovely place and we had a wonderful time! Thanks for the sweet touches of the food items and candles. We found a place to swim at Blue Lakes and I found a beautiful feather while walking around the cabin it has an orange spine and is a keeper.
