D#: 232734670 Well..where do I begin? With the basket of goodies to welcome us..Laughing Whale coffee...Soap...Jam all from the farmers market in Lunenburg that is worth taking the time to attend. The cheerfulness of the house is hard for me to explain as it was everything I had dreamed about. The bright colors, the art on the walls as well as scattered throughout pieces of Folk Art. Comforting,Welcoming ...in every room of the house the feeling of being home! The view of the inlet from every room. The discreet attention of the owner Cindy who was very helpful with suggestions and knowing if we needed anything she would be there but we needed ...nothing. The old fashioned cast iron bathtub...the outdoor shower on a rock in the morning sun...the smells of the various flowers in the perennial garden...watching the bees..walking barefoot ALL week..listening to the birds...sitting on the dock of the fish shack many times in the day..chatting with the friendly though non- intrusive neighbours..sitting in my favorite chair at the top of the stairs with the sun shining in and watching it glisten on the water with relaxing music from the varied CD collection playing, cuddling with our puppy who loved it there and who celebrated her 5th Birthday .Cindy..thank you for creating such a sanctuary for the Soul!!

The house is incredibly comfortable and the decorating style is a delight. I had everything I needed for an excellent writing retreat. Down at the fish house, there is lovely outdoor space for reading and doing yoga right above the water .Rented a bike to tour the gorgeous Blue Rock Area. Neighbors are helpful. Lunenburg is a friendly, interesting, historic town.
I'm delighted that Joyce has found the house ideal for her writing retreat. I've always thought of it as a sanctuary - the perfect spot for any type of retreat. I'm also thrilled that she has enjoyed the beauty of the nieghbourhood - beauty that comes from gorgeous locations and wonderful people.

Love this house and area!

This was my family's summer home when I was a child. (The date listed above is made up, dates are required in order to post.) Cindy bought this house from us years ago, and has loved it as well. It shows! The property is lovelier than ever. The buildings look great and her gardens are beautiful. This area is amazing. The waters are a delight, especially if you are a paddler. The seals pop up all around you when you pull up your paddle around some of the smaller islands. Their eyes are so soulful and their expressions so dear. Come stay at this house. You will love it. The neighbors are wonderful people. The view is spectacular. Go for a walk. Pick some wild blueberries. Go clamming. Go paddling. Go sailing. Check out the Folk Music Festival and the Folk Art Festival. Enjoy it all. Have fun in Stonehurst! I kinda like it there. :)
To receive such heartfelt comments from Jennifer, who spent her childhood summers in this house at Stonehurst...is quite wonderful. Thank you Jennifer. Jennifer's family this remarkable home from its orginal owner/builder, Henry Whynacht, who was a fisherman in Stonehurst. A portrait of Henry ("Hennie") hangs in the kitchen. Both Hennie's family and Jennifer's filled the house with wonderful memories. And Jennifer is so right about the soulful eyes of the seals. And the blueberries....

Cindy's house is charming and comfortable and has wonderful views from almost every window. The outdoor spaces are varied with many places to sit and drink in the beauty of the area. When the mood strikes, it is so simple to slip the kayaks into the water and explore the many nearby inlets. Close by are Bachman's beach which is good for swimming and Hirtles beach which is great for a long beach walk at low tide. Lunenburg and Mahone Bay are both very appealing towns where one can enjoy art galleries, pottery studios, and good food. There are several local farmer's markets that are really worth seeking out as well . Stonehurst is very special and words cannot fully describe the majic of being there.

A beautiful home, comfortable and warmly decorated, with all the amenities you could hope for including a clawfoot bathtub and outdoor shower! Sleeps 5 comfortably with two double beds and a single. The house itself is built in the tradition of those quintessential Eastern seaboard homes with charming wood shingles! It overlooks a breathtaking bay and little boathouse from which you can swim, kayak, or simply enjoy the sunset. Close to the picturesque town of Lunenburg and a scenic drive from surrounding beaches, we will definitely be returning! Cindy was friendly and extremely helpful.
From a grateful guest last summer:
Old world charm in a unique location with all the conveniences of home...and more!
How I miss luxuriating in the bath after a day kayaking right from the doorstep, not to mention awakening to sunrise in the cove. The visions still haunt me.

About:Hello, I've lived in Nova Scotia since 1996. I moved to Stonehurst South, just outside of Lunenburg after living in the urban core of downtown Toronto. I fell in love with this rustic fishing area formerly known as Black Rocks. I've never known such a friendly, easy- going community. Due to my graduate...
