We stayed Thursday through Sunday and were fortunate to have absolutely incredible spring weather! The cabin was exactly as described -- and even *better* than we expected. As many have shared, the cabin is well appointed and very clean with so many personal touches included, all of which made the 4-day weekend as carefree and comfortable as possible. The wrap-around deck with its cool breezes, wonderful hot tub and comfortable seating was where we spent most of our time and the outdoor BBQ grill made cooking dinner a breeze with little clean up; however, the well-stocked kitchen had everything we needed to cook inside as well. The beds provided great sleep, the hot water was plentiful and the living room (with fireplace, DirectTV television and comfortable furniture) made us feel completely AT HOME. We brought our fishing gear and really enjoyed fishing in the nearby pond and for families with children -- I cannot express enough how ideal this little area is! We spent some time in Stanley and in Luray and there is just so much to see and do in this area of VA -- we will certainly be back! Much gratitude to the owners for providing such a comfortable getaway, for being right down the hill while giving 100% privacy to your guests -- it was all so greatly appreciated.

Our stay at the Simple Pleasures Cabin was excellent. The cabin was clean, inviting, private, and appointed with the necessaties for the kitchen. The decor was comfortable/rustic and the cabin was easy to maintain. We brought 2 dogs with us (a Lab and a Cairn) and they too enjoyed the visit! We saw wild turkey and deer every morning. My oldest son used and enjoyed the hot tub. I would recommend this hideaway to anyone who enjoys nature and comfort. Thank you for taking care of all the details, so that all we had to do was relax and enjoy!

The cabin was very clean and well cared for. The furnishings were nice looking and comfortable. The kitchen furnishings could be better. Only 2 dishtowels, 2 very worn pot holders, pans had loose handles, knives were too dull to slice onions. Some knives had loose handles too. The master bedroom could use a chest or small rack to place clothes on. The bathrooms do not offer any surface space but we used the TV trays from the deck. The drive way is steep but not a major problem. It would have been wonderful to have a broom or vacuum have been included to clean the floors during the week. The owners seem to be nice and were very responsive with help picking up excess garbage. Overall, the week was a good one.

we have been coming to this area for the last five years. this cabin was by far the nicest/cleanest/well equipped cabin we have rented. the house is so comfortable - not cluttered, spacious i can not say enough good things about our experience. the "neighborhood" was great for running and for walking our dogs. The owner was very helpful with the questions we had. we will definatley rent again.

We stayed at Simple Pleasures last weekend and had a wonderful time! The owners were very pleasant to work with and quick to respond to any questions or requests. The cabin was very clean and well taken care of, it was perfect for our group, which included small children. The pond and playground was a short, beautiful walk....it was a little chilly, but it would have been perfect for a picnic at the shelter area. Wonderful weekend overall!

House was as depicted in the photographs, clean and tasteful. The front porch was great to hang out on. As others have said, the driveway was steep. We didn't have a problem in our SUV but I imagine it could be challenging for some. We were a bit disappointed that there was no view of the mountains as the cabin is nestled in deep, tall trees. The contract mentioned wood was provided for the firepit, but there was not. There were a couple rotten logs, but nothing burnable. We had to drive around to several stores to locate some wood - try the nearest gas station, that is where we found it. We would have came prepared had we known in advance. The rooms were cozy and clean. The beds were not the most comfortable though. One room (master) has an attached bath and the other rooms share a hall bath. The jacuzzi was also a nice touch. Kitchen had more than enough to get you through most meals. The grill is a camp ground rustic grill, not a propane so bring your charcoal! Overall it was a good experience and the owners were prompt and easy to work with.

We stayed at Simple Pleasures in Aug 2012. We had three sets of adult couples and 4 kids under 3 yrs old. As a 3 bedroom, it was a bit snug in the bedrooms for all of us, but there was plenty of living and kitchen space and everything was in great condition, very clean and tidy. Also linens and towels were provided, which was a nice perk since many other cabins require you to bring your own. The playground and pond were nearby, which was great for the kids. A couple of cons to the stay was the lack of yard space at the cabin. It's on a hill so there wasn't really any good space for the small kids to run around without any fear of falling. There is also a pretty steep driveway with very rough stones/gravel, making it a tough climb without 4x drive. I'd recommend it for adults or perhaps those with older kids - and 4 wheel drive!

The cabin was very clean and tastefully decorated. The owners were quick to respond to any concerns.

Stayed with my wife and two kids. Had a great time enjoying the area. Kids love the playground and pond. We caught 12 fish. The cabin was very clean. The kitchen had everything to prepare meals. The linens were comfortable. Enjoyed the firepit and hammock. Had A/C which came in handy during a heat wave. Would recommend to anyone.

The cabin was fabulous. Very clean and everything you need. The hot tub was great. We had a lot of fun and would highly recommend this cabin. A lot of bugs and back roads were very steep and a little scary to drive.

My husband, daughter, dog and I enjoyed the peaceful, relaxing, clean atmosphere of simple pleasures. It was everything that we could want in a quite family trip. The pond , playground and pavilion was within walking distance of the cabin, which was great for taking in the mountain views. We loved it and can not wait to travel there again!! Truely a home away from home.
May 1, 2012
The home was clean and spacious with items needed to prepare a small meal. There was a nice porch however no outside yard space for my little ones to play. The home was on a steep gravel hill, but our conversion van made the trip ok. The pavillion and pond was a bit further than expected, especially if carrying fishing gear or play items for young children etc. driving there would be better. Wi-Fi was great . Only 1 tv in the home located in the living room none in the 3 bedroom home, normally this would be a 2 rating for me especially with 4 adults and 3 children. The owners were great to work with and answered all my questions prior to my arrival.

We really enjoyed our stay. The cabin was spacious and picture perfect in every way. The property had everything we needed. Only drawback was cell phone service. I subscribe to t-mobile which has no towers in area. Otherwise all was super and i plan on going back this fall. Thank you, John Purgat

We had a great time! This house was CLEAN and had everything you could need. Our 3 girls enjoyed the hottub, hiking, the playground & pond. All of which we had to ourselves. We had to do quite a bit of backtracking to find all the recomended places however. Would have been nice to have directions in the cabin to the pond, playground, hiking trails etc. The driveway is VERY STEEP and rocky. Our mini got stuck 1/2 way up and we had to slide down and take another run at it. So be prepared. There really is no yard for the kids to play in so we really couldn't sit on the porch and relax while they played outside. The driveway and yard are the reasons for 4 starts. Everything else is a 5 start stay. We would rent again. BTW, Hawksbill Diner, was fantastic and the prices can't be beat!

Relaxing vacation when you want to just get a break from the hectic nature of your job and/or city life.
October 5, 2011
The cabin was very roomy, new, clean, and secluded.
August 3, 2011
Spotless and very tastefully decorated log cabin 15 minutes from Luray and just minutes from Stanley. Hot tub, fire pit, front porch, hammock and outdoor grill add to this already well equipped cabin. The pond, while not visible from the cabin, was within walking distance and a nice run for the dogs. The driveway to the cabin was a bit steep but conquered by a mini - although I would not be so lucky in the winter. If you like seclusion this cabin is for you. If you need a view, you might want to consider elsewhere. Five stars for cleanliness and for the decorator's touch. Five stars for seclusion. Five stars for amenities. I prefer a view, hence, the 3 star rating from me.

very nice cabin, secluded but very convenient to SNP and Luray, owners were very nice. Would definitely stay there again.

Coming from Holland I'll review the property in Dutch too We enjoyed our stay very much. The house is more like a small villa instead of a cabin. It looks all new and very clean!. Nice seats and sofa. 2 bathrooms , Fully equiped kitchen. All rooms airconditioned. It 's just all very much OK. We used the BBQ every day and sat around the camp fire pit comfy until late in the evening It is even better than the pictures suggest. Because there are no windows in the front and back walls, it really looks like a very basic cabin. But believe me, it isn't. The location is (nicely) secluded: the cabin is surrounded by trees. So you have a lot of privacy. This might, on the other hand, be the only little drawback I can think of: No mountain views. We loved the place! Alles is gewoon in orde.

This is a lovely home: very clean, new, plenty of space for a family. My husband and I and our two sons enjoyed the fire pit when it wasn't raining, tried our hand at fishing in the stocked pond, and went hiking in the Shenandoah National Park. The home is close to Luray, with all its shops and restaurants. I would have loved to stay longer, it was beautiful, quiet and relaxing. We didn't get to try the hot tub, but it looked very nice and clean. The grill was very basic, the type you see at a picnic area, not that we could use it in the rain anyway. The kitchen had any appliances you might need as well as some supplies. We have already recommended to all our neighbors and coworkers, and will certainly be back in the autumn!

My wife and I and our two young children shared this cabin with another couple who also have a child. The cabin was spacious inside with plenty of room for the kids to move around. The kitchen was adequately supplied with cooking utensils, pots and pans, etc. Cabin has large modern flat screen TV, with satellite, and DVD/VCR combo. It also has a variety of DVDs, many family friendly. All of this was much appreciated in the evenings when the kids needed to wind down with a movie. The property has a nice hot tub. A really enjoyable feature of this property is access to a large fishing pond that is located very close by. The pond is full of bream and I had no trouble catching them. The pond area has a covered picnic pavilion, with plenty of room for kids to run around, and a play area for kids too. Overall this is a good property for a quick get-away from the DC Metro area. We will probably stay here again in the future.

My husband and I spent 5 nights at Simple Pleasures. We normally stay at cabin on the river but reluctantly decided to try somewhere new. Our criteria was pet-friendly, private, clean, and wifi. We got all that and then some! Simple Pleasure is an extremely clean, well-built & decorated, & spacious log cabin. It sits among the trees, high on hill, just off Log Cabin rd. In fact, the driveway has a grade of over 25%. Just down the hill, you are steps away from secluded walking trails and a fishing pond, perfect for letting the pups run and swim. The pups had a ball! We did too. We soaked in the hot tub, lounged on the solid wood deck chairs, roasted marshmallows on the fire, and cycled! This is a perfect home base for cyclists as well. Though we brought our road bikes, we wound up using our mountain bikes since most of the roads with challenging climbs are gravel. Each day we left the house and road about 30 to 40 miles, climbing 3000 to 6000 feet a ride. The traffic was exceptionally light. We were respectfully past by a handful of cars each ride. We were so impressed with Simple Pleasures that we are returning in August for two consecutive weekends. The owners, the Moyers, live in a cabin down the road. But they never invaded our privacy. They let us know beforehand that they were there if we had any issues. We appreciate the wonderful retreat they built and manage. Thanks again. See you in few months! Respectfully, Rebecca & Mike Lowe

The Simple Pleasure rental was a wonderful place for the family. The cottage sits up in a small elevated mountain outside of Stanley VA. The inside of the cabin was immaculate; the amenities offered was just what the doctor ordered. The cool mountain breeze, fire pit, and built in grill made for a great time. The internet is available in case one needs to arrange for things to do in and around Stanley. Having the scenic Skyline drive and Luray Caverns are just a few things that make staying at this cabin so wonderful. I highly recommend and I will be staying there again.

My husband & I rented this property for a three day weekend. It helped us unwind from the stress of the city. It was private but other cabins were close enough to not feel alone in the woods. Cabin was clean. Had satellite dish, washer & drier, and a hot tub. All the convenices you would want to enjoy. Would bring family with us next time. Saw 7 deer walk down the mountain one night. Would love to buy this cabin. Definitely the place to go if you want convenience to activities and the peacefulness of a mountain get away. The gas fireplace added that special touch. Fishing pond near by. My husband loved driving up the huge hill it was on in his 4 x4 pick up.

We wanted to get a way for our Anniversary, something different then the usual beach weather. And I'm so glad we picked this cabin. The cabin was well decorated everything you needed just bring the wine! we some much enjoy the quietness of the woods. We drove to Massanutten for some snow tubing and skiing. Would not recommend the restaurant Fairways at the resort the food was nasty. We did a hike near the cabin and came back got in the hot tub felt so nice. built a fire to make smores . We will be back with the kids.

We had a great time at the cabin. It was very peaceful and quiet. The cabin was very clean and comfortable. The accommodations were perfect for a weekend of relaxation. It was a huge bonus that we could bring our dog. We will definitely be returning for another stay. Thanks so much!

Family visited from England and we stayed in the Luray cabins and let me say they were fully satisfied. There was six adults a baby and we took our dog. This place was beutiful to say the least we stayed fo 3 days in the cabin which catered for all our needs and more. It was about 15 mins drive fron Luray caverns and well within 30 mins of skyline drive which was awsome, the scenery was unbelievable, however we would've been happy to stay in the cabin the whole time. One slight downside was the steep road leading to the cabin. An offroad vehicle would have been ideal, we had a chrysler town and country but managed in the end to get up the hill (even though the wife was driving). There is food lion nearby which comes in handy too. Overall 10 out of 10. We were fully satisfied with our holiday and would recommend it to anyone.

After viewing many cabins on the internet, I decided to reserve this cabin for a girls weekend away with my daughter, best friend and myself. Wow, what a wonderful choice. This cabin is absolutely amazing. The decor was warm, welcoming and adorable. The accomodations were great and the cabin is extremely well maintained and very clean. The pictures really does not do this cabin justice. It truly exceeded my expectations. Very quiet and tranquil surroundings, and something to do for everyone. I cannot say enough about this cabin, as well as the owner, very pleasant person to do business with. I am already planning our next weekend getaway at this cabin.

My wife, two sons (ages 8 and 5), and I were very pleased with our stay in this cabin. The accommodations were very clean and well-maintained and allowed for excellent privacy. We roasted hotdogs and marshmallows while sitting by the outside fire pit. The outdoor hot tub was a plus also. The playground area with the lake allowed our children to play, skip rocks, and just have a great time without being concerned with other people being too closeby. We will definitely visit again.

This is a really nice place to stay. It is clean, new and very comfortable. We enjoyed our stay here very much.
September 23, 2008
The cabin more than met our expectations. The kitchen is very well equipped... right down to the wine opener! It was clean and decorated very nicely. And even though there are other cabins around, we had plenty of privacy due to the natural tree/brush growth. We had a lovely time and hope to return soon. The playground, pond, picinic shelter... it all made the weekend great.
August 27, 2008
We only stayed for a few days, but this immaculate cabin is appointed like an upscale hotel. The decor is woodsy, whimsy and charming, and this cabin had everything our family of five needed for a quiet and peaceful vacation. We loved the wonderful smell of this newly built log home! No mountain view, but the cabin is a short walk from a stocked fishing pond and picnic area. Photos do not do this property justice -- so peaceful, pretty, and quiet! Also close to Skyline drive, caverns and all the activities in the Luray/Massanutten area as well. Loved the hot tub also!! Bring your fishing gear, BBQ, stuff for s'mores over the firepit - a great family retreat!
