Description of the Luray vacation cabin rental
Our cabin at Bear River Valley has everything you want to augment your relaxation in the peaceful harmony of the Shenandoah River.

Sit around the campfire with your feet in the river, listening to the calls of 100 different birds. Free canoes sit nearby for your immediate use. Make sure to grab the oars and life jackets from the shed before heading out!

A full acre of open yard, from the house to the river, gives you plenty of space to setup your soccer game or volleyball net.

A brand new, 7-foot hot tub was recently installed with over 45 jets. This hot tub, from one of the top manufacturers in the business, is great for evening relaxation or morning soak. And while you soak, look out across the river and mountains.

On the top level of the deck, a large commercial-grade gas grill is waiting for your hot dogs, hamburgers and steaks. Want a more authentic outdoor grill? In the mood for roasting marshmallows or a late-night chat? We have just the thing. In the middle of the lawn is a stone campfire pit, over 6 feet in diameter. Find all the wood you need next to the shed, and pick up the lawn chairs from inside the shed.

In the shed, we 've placed 4 mountain bikes for those days when you want to head down the road and check out nature one spin at a time. Be sure to grab the helmets too!

The cabin is also outfitted with the best technology has to offer. Satellite TV in every room with 200 channels of crystal-clear satellite service. FREE LONG DISTANCE phone calls. DVD and VCR player in every room. Free washer and dryer. Wireless HIGH SPEED INTERNET access, totally free.

We've installed a whole-house filtration system that routes all water from the well directly through a series of five different filters. It also runs through a commercial grade softener. You can drink directly from any faucet in the house (and it might even be better than what you 've got at home!).

We've even paid for local trash service so you don't have to lug all that stuff home with you.
Area Information
Nearby activities range from Luray Caverns, canoeing, tubing, kayaking, swimming and fishing in the South Fork of the Shenandoah River, Massanutten Water Park, to hiking and horseback riding in Shenandoah National Park, Skyline Drive and the George Washington National Forest, to visiting local antique stores and flea markets, to touring civil war battle fields, awesome caverns and nearby vineyards. Then too, there is time for just propping up your feet and watching and listening to the calls of over 100 varieties of local birds. There is also guided fishing and hunting around Luray, VA.

great log cabin and location!

cabin was very clean and nicely furnished; had everything you needed; great location and right on river; well equipped with tubes and canoes; only issue I had was the combination would not unlock the canoes but we were able to use the tubes to go down the river; house is right on the river and well furnished; I would certainly stay again.

Owner's reply:

The canoe combination lock needed lubrication, we're taking care of that.

We stayed at BEAR BLUFF and loved it!!

Bear Bluff is an immaculate blend of rustic and modern--perfect for getting away from Washington, DC! We used the fire pit, the fire place, the hot tub (nothing better than a hot tub with a light snowfall!) and the washer and dryer! Oh, and the gas grill---tandoori and jerk chicken breast, with roasted root vegetables--best lunch we have had...ever! Bear Bluff would easily accommodate two couples or a family with kids, but it was a perfect romantic getaway for my husband and I. We loved sitting on the screened-in porch with coffee in the morning, watching the snow drift down. We will come back in the spring, when it's warm enough to use the canoes and tubes!

Relaxing weekend

We spent a very relaxing weekend at this cabin. It was very well appointed, cozy, clean and very comfortable. We enjoyed the hot tub, the river flowing by out back and the ability to take long walks down the dirt road through the woods. I would come here again...it had everything we needed to get away and relax.

More than honest!

We had booked a stay at the Bear Valley Cabin based on the photos, availability of the river, bicycles and canoe. However, 2 weeks before our anticipated arrival, our daughter had a nasty accident, requiring hospitalization and repeated surgery, forcing us to cancel. Although the contract stipulated that the owner could have legally kept the entire deposit amount, he was kind enough to refund 80% of it, the amount normally refundable only up to a month prior to the reservation.

Fantastic Escape

We were amazed by the tranquility, the scenery and a very welcoming Bear River cabin. Many hours were spent at the Shenandoah rivers edge making boats out of sticks and leaves with our kids. The fire pit was a delight for much needed family time and s'mores, and the hot tub was delightful after a hike in Shenandoah Nat'l Park. Highly recommended for families looking for a little piece of heaven !!!!

perfect home in the woods

We had a wonderful time relaxing by the river with our 11 yo and 13 yo, both of whom never got bored! loved canoeing, swimming, enjoying campfire. In this cabin, the added bonus was the cabin's cleanliness, comfort, and more that 200 movies to choose from! We would definitely go back.

This cabin was everything the owner described. It did have everything we needed, and it was a beautiful piece of property. The hot tub, firepit, river canoes and mountain bikes make this place better than most! Thank you for offering a piece of heaven. BTW, no bear sightings for those who are afraid of them. Just deer, foxes and birds!

This one is a new one - just added within the year. In as few words as possible, the inside is beautiful and the outside is peaceful. You will want for nothing and only wish that you had booked it for longer periods of time so you can try out all the amenities. I will be coming back next year and the year after. See ya then!

BEAUTIFUL stretch of river front. Could not be more peaceful and relaxing. We've been here twice this year already. The view out the front or along the river is to die for. I want to BUY this cabin and retire here.

J. and B. White.

It rained a lot while we were here but we almost didn't notice with all the stuff you guys had on the inside. Kids loved the games and TVs. We saw deer and a lot of other wildlife too. We will be back again. Thanks!
