Description of the Luray vacation cabin rental

Kalmia is the newest log cabin in Shenandoah Woods, our private 100 acre valley in the shadows of the Blue Ridge Mountains and Shenandoah National Park. Kalmia is the scientific name for Mountain Laurel, the evergreen shrub that graces our mountainside. We located Kalmia to take advantage of the incredible views. Kalmia sits 300 feet above the Shenandoah Valley on a private mountain which is a foothill of the Blueridge Mountains. Standing on the front porch the view to your left is Big Meadows on top of Shenandoah National Park. Directly before you just across the Shenandoah Valley is a spectacular westerly view of the Massanutten Mountains. Sunsets here are an event.

The master bedroom has a king bed and a private bathroom. The second bedroom has a queen bed. There is a loft with a futon that makes a double sized bed. The sofa also converts to a queen sized bed. The living room has an open cathedral ceiling with exposed heavy timber beams and a dormer to let in plenty of natural light. There is a gas log fireplace with a floor to ceiling stone chimney. Just above the fireplace is a 52" LCD HDTV with DirecTV HD package. There is a stereo with remote, iPod dock and line in jack so bring your MP3 player. Kalmia Cabin also offers free wireless broadband service. There is a full kitchen with new GE appliances. Pots, pans and dinerware are included. We think the front porch is the best feature of Kalmia, it's screened in, has a hot tub, table and chairs and a stunning view of the Shenandoah Valley. There is a ramp to access the cabin and all rooms except the loft are on the same level.

We live close by and are available if you have any needs or if you would like some information and suggestions about area attractions. We will also make every effort to accomodate unique requirements. Need a pack-n-play or a high chair? We can usually provide.

Every paying adult will receive a free ticket to Luray Caverns.

Shenandoah Woods is located near Luray, Virginia. We are 10 minutes from Luray Caverns and Shenandoah National Park, Skyline Drive and the Shenandoah River.  Gorgeous weekend at Kalmia, June 10, 2009

We had a wonderful experience and would love to return to the beauty and comfort of Kalmia cabin. The majestic views from the porch are stunning! The beds are comfortable, the kitchen nicely appointed (which was great for the cook!) and the cabin, spotless. It's new and beautiful, comfortable and quiet, making our visit one of complete relaxation. If you're in the mood for a fabulous hamburger, try the Hawksbill Diner nearby. Be sure and order some home fries with that :) You won't be disappointed! Thank you, Jason and Cori for your hospitality and friendliness. God bless!

Me the wife and the little one spent a few days in what we like to call heaven! The setting, the fire pit, the cabin itself was all perfect! We recommend it to everyone and will continue to visit on every opportunity available.

Our family just returned from our stay at Kalmia Log Cabin. We were there for a week but would have liked to stay for a year! The cabin is gorgeous, clean, tasteful and comfortable! The views from the porch are one of a kind, especially at sunrise and sunset! The firepit was a wonderful gathering place each night to view the stars and hear the train pass through the valley. We loved the pull-out bed by the gas fireplace...a great place to fall asleep watching the stars through the front windows! There are many places to hike around the cabin and even a playground nearby for the kids. The location of Kalmia was perfect for all of the local attractions! We cannot wait to go back! The owners are helpful, hospitable, and take care of all of your needs. For a perfect mountain experience look no further!

I spent 9/19-9/21 here for a relaxing birthday weekend. This cabin is absolutely beautiful. The pictures in no way do this place any justice. Everything was perfect. The beds were comfortable, the hot tub on the deck was nice and I found everything I needed in the kitchen. I will be back.

This cabin has it all! It is brand new and beautifully decorated...everything from the bed linens, towels, cookware, hot tub, etc. We celebrated our 26th anniversary here and will have many wonderful memories.
