The cabin was clean, comfortable and locted on a nice lot. The drive to the cabin involves alot of gravel road, but it is an above average gravel road in terms of maintenance. The main drawback is that it is far from Luray and you have to bring your trash back to the Outfitter's store. Also, they don't have a toaster in the cabin.

Cabin, River & Hot Tub

The cabin is well built. A little small but quaint and just enough room for a long weekend. It was a relaxing experience, out in the woods with beautiful views. Private in general. The hot tub was on the front deck so one neighbor could see, but we enjoyed ourselves under the stars. If you want to get away and relax, this is a great cabin. The heat stove in the bedroom was awesome. I was worried because we went on a very cold weekend, but it was very warm with the heat stove. The cute town of Luray is close by. Good food, great small town shops and a beautiful movie theater. A true gem hidden in a small town. The cabin has a small kitchen to cook and also an outdoor grill. The only negative I can say is minor. The shower is very small, there was no toaster and the directions could have been a little better. Over all it was a very pleasant stay. The cabin was clean and private. The views are wonderful, I would go again.

Xmas in Shenandoah

we had a great time... us and our 3 kids/dogs! Great hiking convenient to cabin. Hot tub was exactly what we needed on very cold and windy nights to relax after hiking and watch the night sky. Cabin snug and comfortable and adequately equipped. From photos looked like the river was closer than it was, but the short jaunt nonetheless was welcomed by our pups daily. Cabins were closer to each other than we anticipated, but not really an issue. Overall: we are SO glad we found this place and plan to be back in the future. Had all we needed for a cozy holiday away from any hustle and bustle.

Modern Pioneers for Two Days

Our 2- day stay in the Wood Duck cabin brought us the best of the past and the present : we were surrounded by trees stretching to the sky and the Shenandoah River in our front yard, but inside we had the 21st century conveniences of heat,lights, and modern appliances.Since it was winter, we did not attempt rafting or even extensive hiking, but it was enough to be surrounded by the incredible presence of the forest with the black sky sprinkled by more stars than I have seen in a long time. Inside, our world was bounded by wood - floors and walls held everything we needed for " roughing it". A singer we heard in Luray on Friday night said it well - "there is nothing like waking up to the smell of coffee in a log cabin!" After this short stay, we plan to rent the cabin for our family this summer. We can all have fun being "modern pioneers"!

River Retreat!

The cabin was spacious, clean, and well appointed. The deck had great views of the Shenandoah River. Our golden retriever could come and go as he pleased, had a huge front yard to play in, and of course swimming in the river. The hot tub on the deck was just what we needed after a day of hiking in the mountains. The cabin is very close to the town of Luray, but also feels like your miles away when you are there. We definitly plan to return!

The area is away from it all. The views are phenomenal and the hot tube is a bonus!! The pictures don't serve this little piece of serenity any justice. The cabin is spacious and clean with a home appeal. I cannot wait to come back for some tubing in the summer. Thank you for making our 1st Anniversary a little special!

A fantastic location, away from it all, and right near the river. And it has everything you could ask for--fire pit, grill, hot tub, fridge, hot tub, hot tub (did I mention the hot tub?) Next time we're staying longer than just a weekend.
