Happy. Just a few suggestions.

October 15, 2013

I take a trip to Luray at least 3 times a year (for the last 8 years). Usually a 7 day trip and then (2) 4 day long weekends. I usually rent a cabin from the same company but this trip was last minute and there were none available. I stayed in the Turtledove cabin. The cabin itself was nice, and clean,, kitchen items (plates/flatware/bowls etc) are VERY sparse though. There are a few suggestions that I have for the owner/rental agents; I arrived at approx 7:30 pm and the house was completely dark, inside and out. I had to depend on my headlights and the glow of my cell phone to find my way around, it wasn't easy. I know check-in is at 3pm, but not everyone will get there during the daylight hours. I think that outside lights should be left on when someone is due to check-in, especially someone who has never been there before. It can be quite intimidating trying to find your way around in the pitch dark in the woods. There wasn’t a sign stating the cabin was ‘Turtledove’ so I wasn’t even 100% sure I was at the right one. Also, the selection of DVDs is extremely slim. There are about 5/6 of them and none that are really even remotely 'new'. I know it is about getting away from things and getting back to nature but if DVDs are advertised, there should be a selection, especially since there is no cable. There isn't even a radio in the cabin. There is a small CD player, but it doesn't really work. It caused every CD I put in it to skip excessively (and the CDs were not scratched). Having a small radio at least gives people the option. I like having just a little bit of background noise so it isn’t extremely quiet. And my last comment,, every cabin I have ever stayed in has had some sort of sanitizer that they ask the guests to put into the hot tub after each use, there was none at Turtledove. I know it seems as though I’m complaining about a lot, and I’m really not. These are just suggestions. I would rent this cabin again.

Ursula Ardy Our visit to Caraway cabin was absolutely wonderful...loved the peace, the cabin and all the thoughtful extras. Jonah (our toddler grandson) and Gus (our Goldendoodle) had the best time ever. The caverns, zoo, hot tub and campfire were among many highlights. Have some great pictures which I will post later.
