A Relaxing Family Vacation

February 26, 2012

We wanted a quiet family vacation as a break from our busy lifestyle and found it at the Massanutten Springs Cabin. The cabin is positioned along a small country road which is a great break from the I-95 corridor. The cabin has a rustic, yet modern feel. The construction and renovation work is well done with all the ammenities. The family room is where we spent most of our time. The hot tub was relaxing and a fun escape right outside the back door. You can take long walks on the property, explore country roads driving your vehicle or take a short drive to town and enjoy all Luray has to offer.

A Definite Recommendation !

February 22, 2012

Pros: The cabin is beautiful and very comfy. You really get a feel for rustic 1850's living in the old part of the cabin.Perfect location for exploring luray caverns an skyline drive area as well. The entertainment system / home theatre is top notch with a large flat screen ,surround sound and Blu ray player. The hot tub is a lot of fun and the views are excellent. The master bath is huge and extremely nice . Annette was a pleasure to deal with and made the transaction a breeze Cons: the concrete floors while attractive to look at, are frigid in the winter.. Why no radiant heat ? ... Bring slippers or flops ....this is a must !!! The master bath while large an spa like has only a soaking tub ... No jets ( very minor detail) The kitchen has great stainless appliances but some of the cookware is laughable and frankly some of the skillets were unusable do to cheap non stick coatings peelin off. This was the biggest drawback by far, but one that can easily be fixed All in all this is good to great rent for the price and location a solid 7.5 out of 10. With a few tweaks it could easily be rated up to a 9 .... A definite recommendation for renting !

Owner's reply:

Thank you John for highly recommending our cabin. I am glad you enjoyed your stay. Actually I thought about radiant heat after the fact... The one plus is floors are very nice in the hot summer! I will add to my list of things you may want to bring - Slippers. The big reason there are no jets in the 6ft soaking tub is simply the jets trap bacteria really bad. I elected to not expose our guests to this. I picked having a hot tub ( water temp is 101 and you use chemicals to treat the water) it seems as tho it is a better way to go- plus the soaking tub is great for a bubble bath by candle light! The kitchen is very nice indeed- a chef's dream... however, the laughable and unusable skillets I discovered after reading your review are not mine. The only pots and pans I provide are the 3 pots 1 skillet that are stainless steel and I do provide quality dishes and silverware. Although after finding the laughable skillets ( not sure why my housekeeping lady did not see these?) I have added some more skillets. I think somewhere along the line - someone bought these cheap skillets to use while at cabin and then left them behind. - they must have felt I needed more skillets. Anyways, I got a chuckle out of that myself...When you return - the skillets are gone>.....We look forward to having you as our guests in the future!!!
