Great location!

We had a great stay at Christopher's River Cabin. We stayed 4 nights, loving how secluded the cabin is and its location right on the river. The views driving into the cabin are breathtaking. We were able to sit in the hot tub in the snow while watching the river - magical! The fee for our dog is much lower than other places, and it was a great spot for her. The cabin has everything you'd need - Be sure to bring spices, oil, etc. from home. Also any of your favorite pans or pots. The only concerning moment we had was that one of the upstairs bedroom windows was open when we arrived, and we didn't notice. The next day we entered the house and there was a poor bird stuck to a sticky mouse trap in the middle of the living room. I guess the bird flew in through the window and smelled something on the trap (I was concerned about our dog finding a trap after that, but we couldn't find any more so I guess they are well-placed). My boyfriend took the bird outside and put it out of it's misery - it was very sad. Otherwise, great vacation! We hope to return!

Location, Location, Location

This modest ' no frills ' cabin is river front and located on the south fork of the Shenandoah River. It is very easy to find, clean, has comfortable beds, efficient A/C unit and a functional kitchen. It is a perfect location for swimming, tubing, kayaking, canoeing and fishing all day long. The large, well kept yard is great for outdoor games and the fire pit inviting. Cell phone service comes and goes inside the house and there is no land line phone. There is no internet service. The sunroom is spacious and faces the river as does the deck. The hot tub also faces the river and was very clean. Very little traffic goes by the house and although you can see the neighbors on both sides of the house it is at the same time private. The property manager is efficient, available and accommodating. This is a property we would come back to.

Total isolation

Great cabin! The views are unbelievable! NO Wi-fi! If you want to make a phone call with your cell phone or go on the internet, you have to walk out into the cornfield in front of the cabin about 20 yards.

Private Getaway

Perfect little private getaway spot that is easy to get to. What a view! Cabin was nice and clean with all the necessary accommodations. Unique loft style lay-out was lots of fun. My dog and son loved the yard and the river so thank you for making this dog friendly. Bring your own water!

Great Location, Bring Bottled Water

The trip was perfect in every way (river, hot tub, grill, fire pit, open space), except the water smelled bad. Just bring a ton of bottled water.

Great location....

Everything was great - fireplace, sun room, deck with hot tub, spiral staircase, RIGHT ON THE RIVER with easy access, close to shopping, great mountain views. The only downside is the well water - it stinks to high heaven! Bring lots of bottled water.

Owner's reply:

I agree, the place is fantastic. We are very close to the river and the base of the mountain and there is a high sulfur content in the water. This is one reason I keep the cost lower then most places of its caliber.

Best Kept Secret in the Valley

This place has got to be the best kept secret in the valley. It is difficult to pick a cabin by looking at pictures on the internet. You kind of have to pick one and hope it turns out to be what the write up says it will be. Well, this place is more than what the write up says. It is beautiful! Right on the river, clean, comfortable, secluded and quiet. Even though it is secluded you are within a 10 minute drive to downtown Luray. We enjoyed walking the Hawksbill Greenway, shopping in the local shops, swimming at Lake Arrowhead, fishing in the river. Oh, and watching Wranglers Baseball. If you go during the summer make sure you take in a game. We can't wait to go back again next year.

Great cottage

We loved our visit to the cottage with great views from the river to the gorgeous blue ridge mtns. We enjoyed exploring the river beds, fishing, and the neighbors were nice as can be. The caverns and town of luray were beautiful and clean with lots of immenities, even a local ice cream spot. We will definitely return again soon!

Great Birthday Weekend

5 of us stayed here for a birthday weekend and really enjoyed ourselves. The bed was very comfy, linens and towels were provided, and we even had extra sleeping space. The hot tub was a huge hit, and you really are right on the river. Thanks for a fun weekend!

Very relaxing stay

Thanks for such a wonderful stay. The cabin was very clean and cozy and I can't say enough how beautiful the riverfront property was. We caught so many fish in the river and enjoyed time around the multiple campfires. Thanks again!

Great visit

My family had a great time at the cottage. The setting was spectacular with the mountain views and the river in our backyard, and the cottage was very cozy, just what we were looking for. We hope to visit again!

Overall the property was great. It was nice and secluded and we loved the hot tub & fire pit. The only complaint I have is that the instructions say to take your garbage with you but does not say where to bring it. When you have a packed car and a 3 hour drive it would help.

Christopher Robin Cottage

I stayed there with some friends. This house is just perfect! It fits 7 people. When we arived, everything was clean and nice. The place where it is, is awesome, you can see the mountains and the back yard ends at the Shenandoah River. On the back porch is a big grill and a big hot tub (when you are sitting in there, can you see the river) If you are looking for a place to relax and feel free and good, book this house! :) We had an awesome weekend there!
