Beautiful Home on Lake Superior (#19410)

Lutsen, Minnesota

Description of the Lutsen vacation home rental

"Lutsen Lakehouse" - The ideal choice for a premier, private North Shore haven of rest (available year-round).

"The heavens declare the glory of God and the earth shows His handiwork." Reserve your stay at Lutsen Lakehouse and you will experience Psalm 19 as Lake Superior's thundering waves crash against the ledgerock shoreline, northern lights dance across the sky, the call of a loon ricochets over the water, and a full moon rises over the big lake they call Gitchigummi. And that's just outside.

Inside you will appreciate the finest comforts of home: sleep soundly in a first-floor master suite with jetted tub, unwind by a soothing fire in the massive wood-burning fieldstone fireplace, relax in the white pine sauna, and savor a meal in the top-of-the-line kitchen complete with Sub-Zero fridge and Weber grill. And bring your laptop for free WiFi internet service!

Enjoy all this and be just a few minutes from Lutsen Ski Resort, Superior Hiking Trail, Superior National Golf Course, and North Shore cross-country ski trails.

Lutsen Lakehouse -- The creation of God without. The comfort of home within.

MORE ON LUTSEN LAKEHOUSE...

RATES: The weekly rate is a 10% discount for reservations of six or more nights. Payment is made through personal check or credit card (half of the total rent reserves your dates; the second half is charged the week before arrival). The rate is the same for up to six adults. There is a $25 per adult charge over six. 6.875% MN state sales tax is added to total rental.

AVAILABILITY: The availability calendar is updated regularly. Please email or call with your desired dates.

HISTORY: The home was built in 1994, has been owned by our family since 1999, and only recently has been offered to respectful renters.

LOCATION: Lutsen Lakehouse is conveniently located about one mile east of "downtown" Lutsen and about 2 miles east of Lutsen Ski Resort. Grand Marais is located 17 miles east of the house and Tofte 10 miles west. Duluth, MN is 90 miles down the shore to the west.

PRIVACY: The home has lots of privacy on 200' of Lake Superior coastline. There is no home on the neighboring property to the west and plenty of distance and trees from a home on the neighboring property to the east. There is also ample buffer (~600') between the home and North Shore 61 with a short service road (Pedersen Lane) and long driveway.

LAKESHORE: The home sits very close to Lake Superior (about 75' of gradual slope to water's edge) and has an incredible southerly view. The ledgerock shoreline is perfect for walking, campfires, or just sitting and enjoying the view.

VIEW: The home is designed around the dramatic view of Lake Superior. All bedrooms (master bedroom downstairs and two bedrooms upstairs) have perfect views of the lake. Watch for iron ore boats sliding along the horizon.

BEDROOMS and BATHROOMS: The master bedroom has a queen-sized bed. The attached master bathroom has a large shower and separate bath tub with jets. The two upstairs bedrooms each have two twin beds. There is a half bathroom upstairs and a full bathroom with large white pine sauna downstairs. (The house has three bedrooms and three bathrooms and a good-sized loft with piano.)

LIVING ROOM, DINING ROOM, KITCHEN: All three rooms are open and inter-connected. The living room extends out from the center of the home with views out and up the shore in both directions. A massive wood-burning fieldstone fireplace sits opposite the windows. The dining room has a large, beautiful wood table that seats 4-8 people. The kitchen is fully equipped with Sub-Zero fridge, gas and electic stove, two ovens, dishwasher, and a large island with two stools.

DECKS: A large deck extends off the upstairs west bedroom and a large covered deck with a Weber grill sits off the kitchen and dining room area. There is also a deck that runs along the entire lakeside of the house with a table for four.

AUDIO/VISUAL: There is a RCA 27" television in the living room with satellite TV (Direct TV) and DVD and VHS players. Local Minneapolis channels are also available. The sound system plays CD's, cassettes, FM/AM radio, and has an cord for your iPod device.

INTERNET: Free high-speed internet service via WiFi is available in the home.

WASHER/DRIER: We store our personal items in the laundry room, so while the home does have a washer/drier, it's not available to guests. A laundromat is available one mile west in Lutsen. For extended stays, clean linens and towels can be arranged upon request.

SUN/MOON: The home faces almost due south so lots of sunlight pours in during the day. Watching the moon rise over the lake is always a memorable moment.

WILDLIFE: Be ready to see white-tailed deer walk through the yard, bald eagles soar overhead, and loons call on Lake Superior. If you're a little more fortunate, you may even see a timber wolf trot through the property or a moose wading in a lake.

PETS: We don't allow pets except to pre-approved renters.

NON-OVERNIGHT GUESTS: Not allowed in the home except if part of same family (i.e. small, quiet gatherings okay; parties are not).

DIRECTIONS AND KEY: Given upon reservation.

CONTACT: Email or call us about availability and other questions.

 Excellent, December 29, 2009
By Taylor Duersch (Eden Prairie, Minnesota)
Virtually a perfect getaway! The view is exquisite. While we were there the weather was stormy with 6-8 foot waves crashing on the rocks; it was completely mesmerizing. The house had everything we needed (even a waffle iron). We have stayed a lot of great places on the North Shore, but the Lutsen Lakehouse was the best.

Relax and Enjoy, August 6, 2009
By Rich Kramp (St. Paul, Minnesota)
My family spent one week at the "Lutsen LakeHome" and enjoyed each and every day. The home offers comfort, convenience and unparalleled views of Lake Superior - up close! The big sky views are also attractive. There is a cosy and convenient coffee shop minutes away in Lutsen and much to see and do in Grand Marais. Bring your play clothes and do not forget a camera and binoculars.

We all thank you for sharing your beautiful home with us, it could not have been more of a perfect weekend! Unbelievably, we had blue sky's and mild weather all weekend! Shorts and t-shirt on the golf coarse! We loved all of the personal sayings around the home and what a breathtaking setting, just an amazing time. I will recommend your home to anyone looking for a unforgettable place to stay! Thanks Again, The Bentrup and Kronquist family.

By Peterson's (Falcon Heights, MN)
This is a lovely home that has phenomenal views of Lake Superior. It is perfect for a family get away. Whether it is a bonfire by the lake or a toasty fire indoors, this place has it all. After a day of hiking at any of several state parks within an easy driving distance, you can return for a sauna, barbecue dinner and games with the family. Truly a restorative get away!

Luxury Lutsen Lakehouse, March 24, 2009
By Josh and Elizabeth (Deephaven, MN)
This is no ordinary cabin on the north shore - all the charm of the north woods, but with the modern perks. The shoreline and setting are beautiful and quiet - far enough off the main highway. Plenty of room for a large family or group to relax and not feel on top of each other. Well equipped modern kitchen and a whirlpool tub and sauna to top it all off! Every room in the house takes advantage of the breathtaking view!

 Sweet Dreams, October 21, 2008
By Mary Jo Swenson (St. Paul, MN USA)
Myself and three girlfriends stayed in Lutsen Lakehouse from a Friday to a Monday. The home was perfect for us with the open layout and the right amount of bedrooms and beds. I usually bring a wave noise machine that I play at night, but didn't need it since I could hear the waves from the lake crashing. It was fantastic!!!! We had three nights of beautiful fires in the fireplace. We appreciated the wonderful dry birch wood. The kitchen was well equipped and easy to work in. The home is located close to Grand Marais and hiking trails. I hope to be back next year with my family for our ladies weekend with my mother, sisters and niece. Thank you for sharing your beautiful home.

Best of the North Shore, October 15, 2008
By Laura (Blaine, MN USA)
David, Hi, we are now back from a beautiful weekend at your home. Thank you so much for letting us share your home. As I had said earlier, we have stayed at several different beautiful homes on the North Shore over the last 7 years, however we all four of us agreed that your home was the best of all for us. What a beautiful and practical floor plan! The views from all the windows are spectacular. Awesome fireplace. Thanks also for the good hot water your home provides! The double oven was appreciated. Excellent location! Your home is even more impressive than the pictures show. Store & hiking close; best pie from the Pie Place in Grand Marais. Thanks again for sharing your home. We will return.

 "A Perfect 10", July 14, 2008
By The Johnson Family (Maple Grove, Mn USA)
Having done quite a bit of traveling as a family, we were probably not expecting our time at the Lutsen Lakehouse to be one of our favorite and most memorable times together! But from the moment we arrived, we knew we were in for a rare treat! The home is fantastic - design, layout, spotless, like-new, yet comfortable, homey. The views and proximity to the lake are unbelievable. The peace, serenity, tranquility, and absolute joy of being hidden away in all the beauty of that pristine nature...the sights, sounds, and smells of the North Shore are hard to be compared! Enjoying delicious meals together, playing games, the sun-drenched deck with lake breezes, bonfires by the lake, relaxing in the sauna, it simply could not have been a more wonderful family getaway. We even found it hard to pull ourselves away from the house to enjoy the area's kayaking, canoeing, hiking, and golfing, we were so content. And when our time was up, no one was "ready" to leave! Thank you so very much!

 Magical, March 24, 2008
By John (Arden Hills, MN USA)
We gathered our far-flung children to spend Holy week togther and this was the perfect place to do it. The home is spectacularly beautiful and the setting is even better. We watched eagles, deer and even a wolf. We played and prayed and reconnected as a family. We made elaborate family dinners in the gorgeous kitchen. we played cards around the huge round dining table (which easliy sat all of us). We had great talks in the sauna and we watched the full moon rise over the lake while listening to the waves break down the winter ice. It just doesn't get much better than this.

 Dream Lakehouse!, November 28, 2007
By Dale (Bloomington, MN)
This place actually sits more closely to the water than the picture shows and the property is wooded. It has total privacy. This beautiful house is well maintained that looks like almost new. This is well designed house that if you stand in the middle of the living room, you get to have 180 degree lake view(windows everywhere). We loved openness of the layout but also all the bedrooms are nicely distant which gives enough privacy. Well, the moment we walked in this house, we just fell in love. We have talked about building a beach house someday and the image of the house we had was exactly like this one. This is our dream house. The reflection of the moonlit on the lake was just so amazingly romantic. Of course, I would strongly recommend this place for anybody for a perfect getaway. But at the same time, I feel like I want to keep this special jewel secret so it will be available when we want to revisit. And we will go back for sure.

 Amazing Home!, October 29, 2007
By Cynthia (Twin Cities, MN)
This house was the perfect get-away. Everything about the house was even better than the pictures on the website led us to believe. The views were specatcular and made every minute of the day a treat. Our two teenagers loved the house too. We all felt comfortable and at home. A short walk down on the rocks to the "private" lakeside is a must. I would recommend this house to everyone.

Even better than the pictures..., September 19, 2007
By Melisa (Omaha, NE USA)
My friends and I went up to the lake house for a week of peace and quiet. It was every bit that we had imagined-and more. Our pictures do not even come close to the serenity that we each felt while staying there. I know my favorite part of the trip, was falling asleep and waking to the sound of the lake every morning. The house was exactly as described to us. We would love to go back next year!!

Space To Breathe, August 2, 2007
By Vic Klimoski (St. Paul, MN)
Our two families gathered for the week and found the house and the property an excellent setting just to be at peace. The house provides a lot of common space with its open floor plan. Access to the Lake is easy, and the privacy terrific. We liked the location and the convenience it offered for getting to our favorite hiking spots. I can't imagine anyone being disappointed. Oh, yes, the last night featured a full moon, something the owner promises as a bonus?

 Lutzen House, July 24, 2007

Our family of four enjoyed perfect weather during a three day stay in July. The house is quite spacious, is in excellent shape, and sits on a beautiful spot with a incredible view of the lake. Love it!

 100% As Advertised, July 6, 2007
By A renter (Maple Grove, MN)
We spent the weekend in late June and had a wonderful time with my parents and our two kids at the Lutsen Lake house. The place is clean, spacious, secluded, and right on the water with amazing views. Highly recommend to all- We'll definitely do it again next year.

North Shore memories, December 26, 2006

The Lutsen Lakehouse is a special place. Words cannot describe the beauty and peace our family experienced while staying at one of the finest homes on the north shore. The property and it's owners are truly blessed and we are thankful they have decided to share it with others. This home has something to offer any time of year and we highly recommend it for your next vacation! Sincerely, The Anderson family
