This cabin is fully equipped with many amenities that exceed above and beyond most seasonal rentals. Full kitchen w/open concept Dining Room/Living Room, Bathroom with hot water Shower stall, two private Bedrooms. Sleeping accommodations for up to 7 or more people. View our pond thru windows w/ screens from three sides of cabin revealing the beautiful Barkers Pond.
This rustic cabin makes you feel a world away from every day stresses and allows you to feel close to the outdoors, giving you a camp-like feeling in Maine's woods. However, you are so close to Maine's coastline if you wish to explore all that Southern Maine has to offer. We have a handy local attractions guide listing all the popular tourist sites.
Basically pack your overnight bag and plan on enjoying a time you and your special ones will cherish for a lifetime.
We have an additional optional package that allows you to arrive and immediately relax and enjoy all that this cabin and the pond has to offer. We offer a unique service:Upon your request we will set up a pre-stocked refrigerator. Simply check-off food items on list provided to you. If you would like to have your refrigerator pre-stocked prior to your arrival. We will provide you with the best quality BBQ foods available from the best local retail meat market around! We will fax-or/e-mail your grocery bill to you and request 50% deposit on food items ordered and balance due paid 30 days prior to check-in. FREE DELIVERY, there are no hidden charges other than the exact cost of food. It's a convenience that many enjoy.

Great Fun for the entire family. All equipment was made available by Dean and Michelle. They were there to help out us "city" people when we didn't know what to do!! Place is beautifully rustic looking and very clean and neat. Supermarket not far at all. The owners were awesome!!

This was our second vacation to this cabin. The owners are wonderful and cabin in equipped with everything you could possibly want. Pics and description are very accurate so what you see is what you get. Plan to return again next summer. My son-in-law and grandkids found the fishing to be alot of fun. We watched 4 loons on the pond all week which was a treat. The location is close enough to many other attractions if you want to take off for a day trip. And of course, Walmart is only about 20 min. away. Overall, it was a wonderful week!

This was a wonderful vacation for my husband and I with our two 14 year old girls. The pond was beautiful, the kids spent a lot of time swimming, kayaking, fishing. We felt secluded but close to everything at the same time. The owners were so nice and helpful. The view was gorgeous, the cabin was cozy and clean. We had a wonderful time and will return. If your looking for a nice place to stay without being charged for all the little extras, this is the place. The owners truly just want you to enjoy your stay and visit again. They go out of their way to give you your privacy but are right there to help you or offer to get you whatever you need. We will be recommending this cabin to all of our friends!

Authentic and quaint cabin on a beautiful pond

We had a wonderful stay at this cabin. It was down to earth, warm and inviting with quilts and candles and an old fashion wood burning stove that kept the cabin warm. I loved the atmosphere. It had a gorgeous view of a beautiful, spring fed pond. It was an enjoyable and memorable trip for our my mom's 80th birthday. Children would really love it because of the fishing, canoeing, etc that was available to guests. The location was also great. We went from the mountains to the Atlantic, from Portland to Ogunquit in short day trips. Lastly, and I could go on for a while, the owners were so kind and helpful. We enjoyed seeing them and even their dog who visited us every day. Everything was truly wonderful and I hope that I can return to this rental again.

We had an absolutely great time! Could not have asked for nicer people to rent from. Dean & Michelle went above and beyond to make sure we had everything we needed or wanted! We had a great time, but I think the dogs had more fun. Lola (german) and Chance (golden) spent all day jumping into the lake and going for walks. They had so much fun I think they slept all the way home. The Shields are great and I plan on going back up next year with friends for a atv trip.

We Just got back from Barker's Pond. We had an amazing time. This was our 6th trip to Maine, but our first trip to this area. Lots of canoeing, kayaking, fishing, swimming, and napping. Went with my family of 4 and golden retriever. Don't know who had more fun the kids or the dog! Something for everyone, and not far from the ocean beaches, great restaurants and shops on the coast. Photos are very accurate on the website. Really beautiful cabin, with all the comforts of home. Everything was so homey and cozy. Slept great at night with all the Maine fresh air. I highly recommend this vacation to anyone looking to kick back and relax and reconnect with family and/or friends. Michelle and Dean were great hosts, we will be back!

This cabin was in a great location, everything from shopping to the ocean was just a short drive away yet you felt miles away in the mountains! The deck overlooking the pond was a great place to have you coffee in the morning and just take in the quiet. I stayed for part of one week with friends and enjoyed the vacation very much. we BBQed outside each night and enjoyed using the small fire pit for a mini 'campfire' at night. the cabin was rustic but was equipped with linens, pillows, lots of kitchen items, towels, and homey touches. the neighbor pets were especially entertaining. a great getaway!

A great vacation! Dean and Michelle Shields host one of the finest get-a-way cabins in all of Maine. It was rustic and quaint and yet had all the amenities you could possibly want and more! A serene lake, kayaks, canoes, fire pit, slide into the lake, deck over the water, wood stove for chilly nites, beautiful sunsets, fishing, church nearby: Mix all the above together and you have a wonderful vacation! Close to shopping too so a rainy day is okay. A really great extra is that you can order your meat and meal items from the Shields - their store only sells the finest cuts of meat. For our first "extended family" vacation, we could not have asked for more. The Shields were the best hosts and could not have been more accommodating. The pond is quaint and just the right size if you want to get away yet enjoy the daily canoe or kayak ride. A relaxing walk can take you all the way around the pond or a nice fire can keep you visiting into the night. The ocean is only a short drive as are shopping outlets and other amusements. Amenities abound, activities keep children and adults entertained, and being able to have your pet(s) with you helps you to relax. Our thumbs up and strong recommendation for Barker's Pond.

We had an awesome time. Lots to keep busy if you want. Fishing, kayaking, canoeing, paddle boating, swimming, bbq, campfire. Hammock was great for when you wanted NOTHING to do. Also a great vaca for our dog... swimming, walks around the pond and she made friends with the owner's dogs. The owners, Dean & Michelle Shields were gracious hosts who were very helpful and cared that we had a great time. We would definitely repeat this vacation next year.

We enjoyed a one week stay at this Maine cabin and had a terrific time. The area and pond is so peaceful to sit back and relax. The accomodations were great inside and out. Sitting by the open fire in the Adirondack chairs roasting marshmallows and hot dogs was a plus! Would definitely rent again.

We traveled from Florida to Maine for a quiet, scenic, peaceful vacation. The amenties listed for this rental were exactly what we were looking for (and exceeded our expectations). We all enjoyed canoeing, fishing, swimming, volleyball and horseshoes. Roasting marshmallows in the evening was the perfect touch to ending a great day. This place truly offers the best of both worlds. Sightseeing is availabe in all directions. The Shield's family offered incredible hospitality! We look forward to returning in the near future.

This vacation spot is just perfect if you are looking for peace and relaxation. The location is close to local attractions and shopping. I was pleasantly surprised with the comfortable beds and linens (big plus!). You'll find everything you need for cooking and the Shield's hot dogs are a terrific welcoming gift.
