Description of the Lyons vacation home rental

Nestled within the Ancient Trees of the Oregon Cascade Mountain Range, along the banks of The North Fork of the Santiam River, lies the secluded Elkhorn Valley.

Located 35 miles East of Salem, The Cranberry House is situated on 40 acres of river front property adjacent to the Elkhorn Valley Golf Course.

Within minutes you you will find yourself in the lush forests and crystalline waters of the Opal Creek Wilderness Area. Recreational activities are in abundance or simply just relax in the yard, and enjoy the view and wildlife in the comfort of your very own mountain retreat.

The Elkhorn Valley truly has something for everybody. Hikers have the Opal Creek Wilderness and Scenic Recreation Area with its hundreds of miles of trails through the ancient forests and along crystal clear streams.
    Golfers can enjoy spending the day on the world class Elkhorn Valley Golf Course adjacent to our property.
    Horseback riding opportunities on remote trails and logging tracks are right outside your door. For those who wish to bring their own horses, you will find a safe and comfortable 6 stall barn with 3 pastures available for boarding.
    Kayakers will find The Little North Fork River put in right on the property, or start higher up and pull out right at home. Some of the best kayaking in the state is right here.
    For the fisherman, catch and release native steel head and trout fishing are just a short walk away.
   Families can explore the many parks & waterfalls, spend the day swimming or relaxing by the river, admire the view and wildlife, or simply read quietly in the yard in the comfort of your very own mountain retreat.

 Great Weekend in the Country, July 22, 2008

We are a group of 6 women who usually spend two weekends per year at the beach together. This is our 20th year. This year we stayed at the Cranberry House and LOVED it. The house is spacious, tranquil and relaxed. In fact, we have decided that the Cranberry House will be our summer destination for the next few years. There are so many activies nearby it will take years to explore them all. Our sincere thanks to Hillary and George for sharing the property with us. We'll be back next year for an even longer stay.

 

 Perfect for our small family reunion, July 17, 2008

The house offered all the basic needs for our 3 families to reunite and have plenty of things to do for the kids. We played golf at the course next door (difficult but real nice course) we hiked in Opal Creek wilderness area, and played in the river. The kids favorite part was intertubing some small rapids in the river. It's a great place if you like outdoor activities or just want to get away from the hustle and relax in peace.

We love to rent vacation homes for short, relaxing get-aways. The Cranberry House was, without a doubt, the most wonderful place to spend a quiet weekend. Steps from the river and only a few miles from Opal Creek Wilderness Area, this house had everything we needed - including a well-equipped kitchen, a hot tub, and a feeling of deep peace and privacy. (There's a DVD player, too, but we weren't savvy enough to figure out how to use it!) Would love to rent this house again soon -

We loved our stay! The Cranberry House is a charming home in a beautiful area! Because of its age, the home has a very comfortable feel. There's lots of living space and many conveniences. The bedrooms are spread throughout the home which makes each feel more private. The owners are very accomodating and were responsive to our needs and questions. Easy to work with! I can't imagine you would be disappointed if you choose to stay at the Cranberry House.
