Description of the Mackinac Island vacation cottage rental
Located on Mackinac Island, one of Michigan’s premier vacation spots, this 5 bedroom Victorian cottage was built in 1891. Its location high on the East Bluff overlooking the Straits of Mackinac, harbor, town, and Mackinac Bridge offers some of the most spectacular views on the island. The house has been updated over the years, but it truly retains most of its turn-of-the-century charm.
The house sleeps 10 in 5 bedrooms. It is 2 stories, and is over 2200sf. It features a large living room and adjacent den and dining room, making it open and roomy for large groups. The large, deep porch has great old wood porch furniture to relax in, and enjoy the spectacular view. The majority of the first floor has walls and ceiling of narrow heart of pine bead board. This is virtually unchanged since the house was built. It'll remind you of the cozy cottage your grandparents used to have!

If you’re looking for a unique vacation experience that reminds you of vacations from your childhood, this is the perfect opportunity for you.

Activities available within easy walking distance from the house:
-Hiking
-Biking
-Horseback riding
-Tennis
-Golf
-Sailing (boat not included)
-Shopping
-Historic Fort Mackinac attractions
-Relaxing (looking out on one of the most beautiful views in Michigan from the porch!)

Area Info
Mackinac Island is one of the most unique vacation destinations in the entire Midwest. The island is largely State Park land (the house is in the State Park). Located between the upper and lower peninsulas of Michigan in the Straits of Mackinac, it is accessible only by ferry boat, private boat, or small plane. Cars are banned on the island. All transportation on the island is via horses, bicycles and foot, which creates a unique, historic environment that is found few other places. You’ll feel you’ve been transported back in time!

The ruggedly beautiful island is covered with wonderful cedar and hardwood forest perfect for hiking, bike riding, and horseback riding, and has many natural rock features, as well as many historic sites (including Fort Mackinac) which date to the Late 1700's.

Downtown Mackinac Island, as you would expect of a great resort, has fantastic shopping, and restaurants and bars galore. It has a victorian character that is truely unique and romantic.
