Description of the Mackinac Island vacation home rental
Rent our cute, 3 bedroom, 2 1/2 bath, detached home nestled between the 11th and 17th fairways on Mackinac Island. Yes, ON the island. Spend a week to a month on the most romantic island anywhere. Bicycles and horse carriages rule this island because automobiles were banned over 100 years ago.
We use our family home for part of every summer, but you can use it any other time. We visited for a family vacation a decade ago, and come every summer now. Our victorian home was built in 2008, so the home is in great shape!
Summers include horse rides, carriages, bicycle rides, boating, parasailing, shopping, high teas, historic forts, hiking, golfing, tennis, swimming, and lots more on this resort island. A winter visit should include Christmas and New Years, with horse drawn sleigh rides.
You will have a fully furnished home that sleeps 6 in the bedrooms, and can accommodate 9 total. Bring your laptop for our high-speed AT&T wireless if you want. Wireless means our TV with DVD and VHF can also run HULU, Netflix, etc. Access to the island is no problem with the regular boat ferries and airplane access. Bring your bikes, don't forget your golf clubs, enjoy the horses, savor life without automobiles, and sample the Island’s world-famous fudge!
Area Information
Mackinac Island is the crown jewel of Michigan, primarily composed of Michigan State Park land.
While the island is only 8 miles around its outer banks, there are dozens of miles of trails throughout the island. Walk the trails, bike the trails, or rent a horse and ride the trails. You won't run out of trails. On horseback, it takes about 20 hours to ride all the trails.
There are two 18 hole golf courses on the island, and tee times are generally easy to obtain.
The Victorian downtown bustles with quaint shops of all sorts, saloons, wonderful restaurants, and world famous fudge stores.
Historic sites abound all over the island, including the Mackinac Island fort with daily reenactments of a 19th century soldier's life on the Island. This island was a booming metropolis when Detroit and Chicago were mere blips on the map. Now it is a sleepy resort town bent on your summer enjoyment.
For fans of the movie "Somewhere In Time" the island's scenery will look very familiar. It was all filmed right here. So was the movie "This Time For Keeps".
This romantic island has something for everyone!
