Magen's Bay, with its famous mile wide beach, is one of the treasures of the Caribbean. It is a mile wide, four mile long "U" shaped bodies of water, stretching northwest to the Atlantic Ocean, Because of high hills on three sides, the Bay is protected and very calm, and the wind blows out the Bay, keeping the waters still and the bottom sandy.
St. Thomas is a US territory, more easily reached than any other Island in the US or British Virgin Islands. Direct flights reach the Island from every major city in the eastern half of the United States. The Beach is on the very quiet north side of the island, but the nightlife, restaurants, and shopping of the Island is just 20 minutes away by car. St. Thomas is widely regarded as having the best high end shopping of any place in the Islands.
Your 1000 sq. ft. condo unit is right above the beach, reached by a short walk down a stair war to the beach. The condo has a large living room, a good sized kitchen, and two bedrooms, one equipped with a king sized bed and the other with two twins. The unit has a 9' by 40' deck the whole length of the condo, with seating for four guests, a place to eat, barbecue, or just lounge and watch the spectacular sunsets and the lights of the houses across the Bay at night. The entire property was renovated in 2007, with new kitchens, baths, and furniture.
This condo is located as part of Villa Eau Claire, a gated private home located on Peterborg Road about a half mile from the main Beach. The owners live next door in a three bedroom unit, but they are infrequently on Island and will provide you with privacy if they are there. The Condo has its own entrance and its own stairs down to the Beach. The Villa is equipped with a 27K generator, providing constant power during the frequent breakdowns of power in St. Thomas.
This condo is part of Villa Eau Claire, which has a larger and more expensive two bedroom, two bathroom, 1,400 sq ft residence that is also for rent. The facility pictures aren't of recent day. The facility appeared old and not well maintained. There was a dead water bug on it's back inside the clothes chest, the yellowed moisture spot stained pillows smelled like old perspired clothes, the two dusty CD players did not work, once white patio furniture looked like it had dried mud on it's surface which made it okay as a plant stand but not for eating at or even touching, a white shower towel had a huge gray stain and varied others had little rust stain circles, the plastic, stale smelling, slimey interior shower curtain had mildew spots all over, there was what appeared to be a dead centipede in one of the plastic kitchen bowls and the unorganized closets had a plethora of randomly strewn things that were layered in dust. The views from the patio were breathtaking but I felt like I sacrificed quality of daily life to have it. This facility needs an attentive cleaning staff as well as a good dedicated maintenance crew. Seems like those two service providers take advantage of unit owner's absence collecting a paycheck but not providing a very good service. This unit owner seemed nice but I have to wonder when she was there last or if she just has very low living standards. Place which has obviously been neglected needs much attention and professional care. I can see why it was so affordable....location, location, location.

Wonderful spot with a very private, cozy feel. You can only catch a glimpse of the neighbor’s houses from one or two spots. The view is amazing with an almost 360 degree panorama. You can watch the sunrise from the east deck and toast the sunset over the ocean from a hammock poolside on the west deck. With 3 bedrooms and lots of extra sleeping space in the family room there was plenty of room for our 2 families. The amenities were great. The kitchen is nicer than my own- not that I did that much cooking. Besides the great pool, we spent lots of time at Magen’s Bay which is the most popular beach on the island and featured in all kinds of travel magazines. It’s probably within walking distance if you’re in good shape but we drove- takes about 5 minutes to get there by car. The kids loved it. The gift shop rents out snorkeling equipment, floating mats etc. Driving to downtown Charlotte Amalie for shopping was a bit of an adventure as you drive on the left in the Virgin Islands. The trip was worth it as the shopping was great. I'd recommend this Villa for anyone.

My husband and I stayed for a week and we were depressed when we had to leave. We kept pinching ourselves every morning, not believing this is the views we got to wake up to! The pictures do not do it justice, this property is magnificent! We went sight seeing a few times, but decided that the best place to be in St. Thomas was at the Villa Eau Claire! eeing a few days, but decided there was no other place we wanted to be but at Villa Eau Claire...
